Kay will be sadly missed by her loving husband Elmer; children: Dennis, Dave (Michelle), Dorrie (Wilf), Doug and Deanna. Grandchildren: Kandis, Jarrod, Megan, Sara, Tawny, Garrett and three great grandchildren. Born in Ethelbert, Manitoba, October 17, 1930. Predeceased by her parents, brother, sister and two infant children. Kay was Mom and Baba to everyone who knew her. Her home was always open and her heart full of love. She will always be remembered for her beautiful garden, incredible perogies, her love for family and her joy of life. Funeral service will be held Friday, April 18, 2008, 3:00 pm at Assman's Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Spirit of The North Healthcare Foundation. Marie (Florida) Ivonne Gendron October 18, 1917 - November 9, 2008 It is with deepest sadness and regret that we announce the passing of Marie Florida Ivonne Gendron (Bernard) Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister and aunt. Florida passed away in Nanaimo hospital on November 9, 2008 peacefully in her sleep. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband of 71 years, Philias, sons Albert (Shirley), Raymond (Ivy), Oliver (Carol), Edward, Lawrence (Cheryl), Alex (Shirley), Bruce (Jackie) and daughter Dianne (Albert),23 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, sister Josephine Kraklay and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her Father and Mother Joseph and Eugene Bernard, her brother Albert Bernard, sisters Alice Dudar, Laura Pollard and her great grandson, Shawn Currier. Florida was born in Fisher Branch, Manitoba on October 18, 1917 to her parents Joseph and Eugene Bernard. She married Phil Gendron on June 21, 1937 and lived in Tisdale, Saskatchewan until 1951. They moved to Prince George and lived there for 17 years. In 1968 they moved to Parksville, Vancouver Island. Florida has been a member of the Drop In Center in Parksville for many years. She loved to knit and do crafts which she was really superb at. She also liked to dance and did so until her late 70s. She will be sadly missed by everyone that knew her. MAURICE LEVESQUE May 17, 1943 - September 20, 2008 HUSBAND, FATHER, FRIEND Maurice died peacefully in his sleep on September 20, 2008 at the age of 65 years, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Left to mourn his loss are his loving wife and daughter, Lynda and Jenny; brothers, Guay (Alice), Gilles (Micheline), Gaetan, and Gaston (Louise); sisters, Gisele, Gaetane, and Pierrette; brother-in-law, Jim (Pauline); sisters-in-law, Donna and Vanessa and many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. Maurice was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Jeanette; brothers, Patrice, Sylvio, Pierre and Mario; sister, Jean D'Arc, and son, Sean in 1998. A Funeral Service will be held at Assman's Funeral Chapel, September 27, 2008. Prior to the service the chapel will be open from 12:00 - 1:30pm for visitation, the service will begin at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, if one so desires, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Rotary Hospice House. We wish to send special thanks to everyone who helped us to care for and comfort Moe in his time of need. Your love and support will never be forgotten, you all know who you are, thank you. McAvany, Leonard Clark McAvany, Leonard Clark passed away peacefully in Prince George on Tuesday, June 10, 2008. Leonard was born in Point Lake, Saskatchewan on February 11, 1931 at the family home. Len was an un-pretentious man who lived his life in a simple and honest manner. From horse wrangling and farming in Saskatchewan to equipment Operator in Alberta and proud Owner and Operator of a small fleet of logging trucks in Chetwynd, BC, Len lived his life giving 110% and with his wife instilled in their children and grandchildren the same work ethic "An honest days work for a days pay and if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right". Leonard leaves to mourn his passing and celebrate his love his best friend and wife of 53 years, Ursula,Children, Grandchildren, Great Grand-children, Lorraine (Rick), her children, Trevor (Trudy and their children Talia, Trinity, and Teagan), Shayna (Aron and their child Ayden), Patrick (Kymm and their child Nikki); Kathy (JR) and their children, Troy (Brittany and their new born boy Grayson), Kristal (Doug); Marianne (Allan); Lee (his children Megan and Ryan); Ian (Debbie); siblings (in-laws) Edwin (Alice), Rose (Chuck), Pat (John), Keith (Donna), Hartman (Eileen), Hans (Audrey); nephews, nieces, extended family, and many friends. Len was predeceased by his parents Clark and Mary, parent in-laws Gustav and Gertrude, Brother Clair, Sisters Irene, Louise, and Pearl. Len touched many hearts and lives with his great sense of ha ha and his caring and love for family and friends. After moving to Prince George, Len and Ursula spent much of their time with family and close life time friends, The Ryans, The McCabes and families and Clarence Perry. The family thanks the Paramedics and the hospital team led by Dr. Hagan who observed his wishes and left him with his dignity. There was no service at the request of Len. The family and very close friends held a Celebration of his life and love on June 13th at Fort George Manor. Len was a "Giant" of a man who stood 5'6" and will be loved, missed, and remembered forever by his family and friends. McInnes, Mabel Evelyn We deeply regret to inform you of the recent passing of Mabel. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family after a courageous fight and lengthy illness, which she endured with her typical strength, humour and dignity. Mabel is survived by daughters; Gail (Bruce) and Penny (Andrew) of Australia, sons; Larry, Roger and Ken (Kelly), brother; Dickson (Hazel), sister; Josephine, grandchildren; Mark, Michael, Tess and Mary-Alice, and numerous relatives and friends.Mabel was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. A wake will be held at the home of Dickson and Hazel Alexis (Stoney Creek), commencing @ 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 30th until 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 2nd. A viewing will also be held Friday, July 4th from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. from St. Mary's Catholic Church (1088 Gillette Street) in Prince George. Louise Katherine Norquay NORQUAY - Louise Katherine, we regret to announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sibling and friend. Louise Katherine Norquay (Kirschner) was born on February 26, 1930 and passed away in Prince George on November 17, 2007. Lou will be sadly missed by all - she touched so many lives. Left to mourn her loss are daughter Anna (Carsan), sons Alan (Sara) and Robert. Also surviving are grandchildren, Justin (Nadine), Kevin, Andrew, Bailey and Zachary. Two sisters, Frances Berg & Annette Giesbrecht, and beloved brother David Kirschner. Lou was predeceased by her husband Fred, companion James Gray and parents Agnes and John Kirschner, sisters, Eva, Jean, Agnes (Toots), and brothers John, Joseph (Butch) and infant brother Billy. A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 22, 2007 from 7:00 to 8:00pm at Assman's Funeral Chapel. Memorial services for Lou will be held on Friday, November 23, 2007 at 1:00 pm from the Royal Canadian Legion, 1335 7th Avenue. Mrs. Mary Eggen On Sunday, November 9, 2008 Mrs. Mary Eggen passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 77 years. Mary was born April 20, 1931 in Thorhild, Alberta. She was predeceased by her parents Walter David McMillan, Mable Alice Barore and four siblings Raymond McMillan, Thelma Bartel, Floyd McMillan and Harold McMillan. Left to mourn her passing are siblings Roy, Rodger, Glen, Verna, husband Lorne Eggen, family and friends. After growing up in Thorhild Alberta Mary worked 8 years in banks in Thorhild, Barhead, Edmonton and Yellowknife. While in Edmonton she met her husband Lorne on April 24, 1955. After a whirlwind courtship they married four months later on August 20, 1955. Mary was 24 years old. After their marriage Mary and Lorne first moved to McKay, Alberta and then soon moved to Prince George, British Columbia where they eventually purchased the property on Christenson Road with a little house already on it. In a true pioneering spirit they started with very little, but over the years the little house expanded as the family grew. Mary and Lorne have four children Ron (Beverley), Joan (Gord), Barry (Catherine) and Cathy (Gary). She is beloved grandmother to her eight grandchildren (Lyle, Ben, Heather Anna, Stan, Hannah, Mary, Aaron and Sophie). Mary was mother to many children she babysat in her home, many of whom are still dear friends. Mary filled her time tending her enormous garden, preserving all the good food she grew for her family. She was an amazing cook and everyone looked forward to a meal prepared by her. Mary was also a gifted knitter and she made many beautiful garments for her loved ones. Mary's life was spent in dedication to her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by everyone's life she touched. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 15th at 11:00 a.m. at Assman's Funeral Home (1908 Queensway, Prince George). In lieu of flowers, donations will be gratefully accepted to the Prince George Hospice whose care of Mary during her valiant struggle with cancer was so appreciated by Mary and her family. Donations would also be appreciated to the Lung Association. Earl James Person PERSON - EARL JAMES In loving memory of Earl who passed away in Edmonton, Alberta on May 23, 2008. He is survived by his daughters: Kylee and Courtney, his brothers: Grayham (Alice) and Rodney, his father: Charles. Alex Paul Reszitnyk RESZITNYK - Alex Paul passed away after a struggle with lung cancer on Sunday, January 1, 2008 at the age of 73. Alex was born on August 9, 1934 in Sclater, Manitoba. Alex deeply loved his family and he will be greatly missed. He is survived by his loving wife Walda; daughter Donna Condon (Jim) of Kelowna; three sons: Wayne (Karen) of Kelowna, Randy of Fort St. John, Colin of Burnaby; five grandchildren: Tara, Tanna, Trevin, Gracie and Jenna. Shirley Frances Richter Aug. 16, 1935 - Sept. 14, 2008 Shirley passed away on a beautiful fall day, leaving a legacy of grace and wisdom. Shirley is survived by her husband of 49 years, Paul Richter; her children Peter (Colleen) of Vernon, Jo-Anne (Alain Pietroniro) of Saskatoon and Karen (Derek Barnes) of Whistler; and her grandchildren Kris, Karmen and Kolby Richter, Katherine and Erica Pietroniro, and Sam and Joe Barnes. Shirley was a dedicated educator, friend, sister, wife, mom and grandma. She had a love of learning and a spirit of adventure that guided and defined her life, and influenced the lives of others.
