JOHN JACK BIALLY
It is with profound sadness that we announce that on Feb. 24, 2006, John Bially, aged 87, beloved husband, father, grandfather, died suddenly at his residence in Tolstoi, Man.
Jack is survived by his devoted wife Helen, and their son Edward, daughter-in-law Donna, as well as three grandchildren, Adam,
Katie and Scott. Jack is also survived by sister Olga; sisters-in-law: Eva Bially, Elsie Dolynchuk, Elda Dolynchuk, Sonia Dolynchuk; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was also a godfather to many children.
Jack was born June 22, 1918 and grew up in Overstoneville, Man. area; attending Zelota School/General Welding Course School of Instruction, Electric Acetylene Welding; a businessman and community minded. Jack never truly retired, spent a busy life as his health permitted to the very end.
Jack and Helen were married in the Tolstoi Sacred Heart of Jesus Ukrainian Catholic Church on July 25, 1953. They lived in Tolstoi all their lives. Jack was active in the community, and served as a school trustee on the local school board, vice-president of the Ukrainian Catholic Church, the Community Centre and Tolstoi Seniors, being instrumental in its beginning as first president. Jack's true pleasure was his family and friends.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, Feb. 28, 10 a.m., at Sacred Heart of Jesus Ukrainian Catholic Church in Tolstoi, with interment at Overstoneville Independent Cemetery. Pallbearers were his godchildren: Allan Dolynchuk, Larry Dolynchuk, Sandra Maluzynsky, Allan Fredrick, Jim Bially and Michael Bially. Officiating minister was Rev. Father Gregory Zubacz. Cantors Lew Kurdydyk and Vasyl Maluzynsky harmoniously did the responses, with the congregation joining in. Carrying the cross and the church banners were grandchildren, Adam, Katie and Scott.

JACOB M. FRIESEN
Jacob M. Friesen passed away Sunday, Feb. 26 at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Steinbach, Man. at the age of 95.
He is survived by one brother, Martin M. Friesen of Steinbach; five sisters, Anna Neufeld of Grunthal, Man., Gertrude Neufeld of Niverville, Man., Katherine Kehler of Paraguay, Helen (Abe) Kehler of Steinbach, and Sara (George J.) Kehler of Steinbach; sisters-in-law, Esther Friesen of Steinbach and Jessie Friesen of Ontario. He was predeceased by siblings, Maria (Cornelius W.) Friesen, Margaret (Henry) Hiebert, Aganetha (John S.) Friesen, David (Helen) Friesen, Cornelius (Tina) Friesen, Peter Friesen, Henry Friesen, Diedrich (Elma) Friesen; sister-in-law Sara Friesen; brothers-in-law, John Kehler, Henry Neufeld and Jake Neufeld.
The funeral service will be held at the Sommerfeld Mennonite Church in New Bothwell, Man., Thursday, March 2 at 2 p.m. Interment at the church cemetery.

MARGARET FRIESEN
Peacefully, at her residence in Kleefeld, Man., with her family at her side, Margaret Friesen passed away Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006, at the age of 93 years.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Andrew (Jessie), Lena (Ed Harder), Betty, Elma (Ben Dyck), Alvera (Peter Brandt), Melvin (Mary); 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers; and one sister. She was predeceased by her husband John F. Friesen, and one daughter Alice.
The funeral service for Margaret was held Tuesday, Feb. 28, at the Rosenort E.M.C., with Rev. George Toews officiating. Interment took place at the church cemetery.

ABRAM D. (ABE) MARTENS
Abram D. Martens, age 74 years and five months, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away Feb. 28, 2006 at his home in Mitchell, Man. He died peacefully in the loving arms of his wife.
Abe was born Sept. 4, 1931 and raised in the Plum Coulee, Man. area. He married Katharina
Friesen on May 23, 1964 and they enjoyed 42 years together, and resided in Mitchell for the last 30 years. He leaves to celebrate his memory, his wife Kathy; his oldest daughter Lisa; his son Dave and his wife Bonita; their children, Alix, Logan, Mikayla, Andrew, Kyle and Tyrel; his younger daughter Barb and her husband Cory and their son Nicky. He is also survived by two sisters, Jessie
Rempel and Nettie (John) Anderson; six brothers, Jake, Pete
(Evelyn), Dave, Cornie (Mary), Bill (Mary), and Richard (Hilda); sister-in-law Betty (Gerry) Shore; and their families.
He was predeceased by his father David; his mother Justina; two brothers, Henry and John; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy, Ruth and Pat; one brother-in-law, Adolph; and five nephews.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks for the excellent care provided by the paramedics, RCMP officers, the staff at Bethesda Hospital ER, and for all the support and caring of family and friends.
The funeral service will be held Friday, March 3, 2006, 2 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, with viewing prior to the service. Interment at the Mitchell CMC Cemetery.

ABRAHAM S. SAWATZKY
Born Aug. 13, 1922, Abraham passed away peacefully Monday, Feb. 27, 2006 at the Menno Home, Grunthal, Man., at the age of 83. He is survived by two sisters, Agatha (Ben) Voth of Grunthal, Kay Peleck of Winnipeg, Man.; two sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter P. and Anna Sawatzky, and nine brothers and sisters.
Abe lived with his parents till they passed away. He remained in Niverville, Man. till he moved to the Menno Home on May 31, 2002.
Abe was a Big Brother to many young boys and attended many Bible Camps to help with the children. He particularly enjoyed doing leather crafts with them. He was a handyman and did whatever was required. Through these experiences he made many lifelong friends. Abe was also a shoemaker for many years.
The family wishes to express sincere thanks for the kindness and special care he was given by the staff and management at the home. Special thanks go to Mr. Jake Friesen and Mr. Abe Unger and the Niverville CMC Church for all the love and care they gave Abe when needed.
The funeral service will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Dr., Steinbach, Man., Thursday, March 2, 2006 at 2 p.m. Interment at Hespeler Cemetery in Niverville.

JEAN-PAUL SAINDON
Jean-Paul Saindon of Richer, Man. passed away at the Ste. Anne Hospital, Friday, Feb. 24, 2006 at the age of 71.
He is survived by children: Lorraine (Paul) Laramee, Paul (Lorna) Saindon, Robert Saindon; grandchildren: Sheri and Annette Saindon, Lucien Laramee and Sheri Scott; great-grandchild Aden Laramee. He was predeceased by his wife Adrienne in 2005 and son Maurice in 2004.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held Tuesday, Feb. 28 at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, Man.

FREDERICK R. VINET
Fred lost his heroic fight to cancer on Feb. 26, 2006 at St. Pierre Hospital, at the age of 80.
He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy; and daughters Jan and Arlene. He was predeceased by his beautiful daughter Karen. Fred loved the land and was one with nature. He had a good heart. He will be loved, missed and remembered always. Rest in peace, Fred.
Heartfelt thanks to Dave and Helen Wiebe, Pastor Andrew Wiebe, the congregation of Grunthal CMC church for their prayers, Dr. Strank, palliative, home care and hospital staff.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA.
Interment has taken place at Waverley Memorial Gardens.

Peacefully, Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006 at the Carman Memorial Hospital, Olga Karalash, beloved wife of the late Frank Karalash, passed away at the age of 87 years.
A funeral service was held from Doyle's Funeral Chapel in Carman, Man., Monday, Feb. 27 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Harold Kenyon officiating. Interment followed at the Greenwood Cemetery, Carman.

HELEN JULIE LANGE
Helen Julie Lange (nee Lederny) passed away Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006 at the age of 64, at Morris General Hospital.
Helen was born in Dominion City, Man., Feb. 17, 1941. She married Clarence Lange Oct. 10, 1964 and moved to the Emerson, Man. area.
Helen was predeceased by her parents, one brother and one sister. She is survived by her loving husband Clarence, her son Dennis and daughter-in-law Shelley, her brother Mike Lederny, sister Mary Fechuck, and many extended family members and friends.
Helen touched the lives of everyone she met and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services were held Feb. 17, 2006 at Zion Lutheran Church in Fredenstahl, Man. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Zion Lutheran Memorial Fund.
DELIMA CLAUDIA AUSTINSON
It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mom and grandma, Delima Austinson, Saturday, March 4, 2006, at the age of 77 years, with her family at her side.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Oliver (Lorraine), Harriet, Palmer (Marilyn), Gerard (Caroline); grandchildren: Tony, Tracey, Jill, Nick, Dale, Reina, Rhoda, Kendra, Christopher, Samantha, Dustin, Miranda, and Alia; great-grandchildren: Jordan, Jesse, Devon, Joshua, Julian, Mackenzie, Riley, Kathryn and Robyn; Mom's sister Florence; brothers, Jean-Baptiste and Marcel.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband Harry; one son; and three brothers.
Before Mom's illness took over, her life was filled with many hours of knitting and crocheting. When she was not working, she loved to spend time in the country with her children and grandchildren; going for rides, reading, and playing cards with family and friends.
We, the family, would like to thank the Vita Personal Care Home in Vita, Man. for their caring and kindness while Mom resided there.
Funeral service was held Thursday, March 9, 2006 at the Roman Catholic Church in South Junction, Man. at 2 p.m., with viewing half hour prior to the funeral service. Interment followed the service in the Wampum Cemetery.
Even though you may be gone, our memories of you will never fade.

URGEL FILLION
Peacefully, Saturday, March 4, 2006 at his residence in Ste. Anne, Man., Urgel Fillion passed away at the age of 84 years.
Urgel is predeceased by his sister Fleurette (Joseph) Laurin, and brother Urbain Fillion.
Urgel leaves to mourn, his sisters: Elorianne (Omer) Desrosiers, Majella (Aime) Charriere; brother Laurent (Therese) Fillion; and sister-in-law Aurore Fillion. Also left to mourn are numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral mass was celebrated Thursday, March 9, 2006 at Ste. Anne Roman Catholic Church in Ste. Anne, Man. at 11 a.m., with viewing one half hour prior to the service. Father Rene Chartier officiating. Interment will take place in the Ste. Anne Cemetery at a later date.
