Mrs. Lily Pidlubny (nee Kotyk)
August 3, 1923 - February 24, 2008
It is with great sadness the family announces Lily’s passing on February 24, 2008 at the Regional Science Center in Thunder Bay.
She is lovingly remembered by her sisters Olga Rogers, Elizabeth Kotyk, brothers William (Alice), Nestor (Shirley), Ted (Norma) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lily is predeceased by her sisters Mary Nind, Dora Fairbairn, her brother Nick Kotyk and nephews Martin Bell and Doug Fairbairn.
Lily served as a Corporal in the R.C.A.F. in Summerside, P.E.I. and Gander, Newfoundland from August 6, 1942 to April 8, 1946.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street.

Mrs. Winnie Turkitch
January 23, 1930 - February 16, 2008
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Winnie on February 16, 2008 at the age of 78, beloved wife of the late Bill Turkitch, with her children by her side at St. Boniface Hospital.
Winnie leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her loving memory her children, Linda (Paul) Paradis, Judy (Emile) Chartier, and Allan Turkitch; grandchildren, Ryan and Aimee Paradis, and Mitchell (Dayle) and Karen Chartier; great grandson Jecht Chartier.
She will also be missed by her sisters, Elsie Huminiuk and Evelyn Kulikowski; brothers, Jimmy (Edith) Colmer and Oliver (Bernice) Kolmatiski; sister-in-laws, Margaret Colmer, Vera Colmer, and Mary (Eric) Burrows of England; and many nieces, nephews, friends and other family members.
Winnie was predeceased by her beloved husband, William (Bill) Turkitch; parents, Catherine and Michael Kolmatiski; brothers, Henry Colmer and William Colmer, and sister Joyce Borys.
Mom was a person of great courage, independence, and strength, with a lifelong faith in God and a strong commitment and loving devotion to her home and family.
She raised her three children alone after her husband, Bill became ill, and was faithfully caring and devoted to him throughout his 44 year long stay at Deer Lodge Centre until his passing in 2004.
She was a beautiful person, both inside and out, and made a multitude of friends throughout her life.
People were always drawn to her likable, friendly and outgoing personality.
Mom was an avid walker throughout her entire life, and enjoyed socializing with her friends in Norwood.
She had a tremendous sense of humour. We will greatly miss her.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Paradis, Mitchell Chartier, Andrej Brasko, Myron Borys, Bill Bodman, and Douglas Bakuska.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 22 at 10:30 a.m. in the Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons St.
Interment to follow in St. Boniface Cemetery.

AUGUST 7, 1967 – OCTOBER 17, 2007
After a courageous battle with breast cancer and with her family at her side we sadly announce the passing Of Donna Mae Ivison on Wednesday October 17th, 2007 at the Saint Boniface Palliative Care Unit.
Donna is survived by her spouse Richard Thom & son Caine, Father Norm Ivison (Connie), Mother Jose Ivison (Ralph), Siblings Darren (Paula), Michael and Stephanie, Mother in-law Gloria Thom, Father in-law Eric Thom, Brother in-law Randy (Tracie), nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Born August 7, 1967 in Winnipeg MB. She attended Lavallee School and graduated from Dakota Collegiate. She worked at Shoppers Drug mart at River and Osborne for 16 years where she made many friends. Her life centered around her partner Rich and their son Caine. Donna embraced life and fought hard. She was very involved in the fight for Breast cancer and supported the cause whole-heartedly. She participated in the walk to end breast cancer this summer and was team leader for “ Tree for Life” cancer care. She enjoyed spending her time outdoors fishing with Caine and Rich and their newly acquired cabin. Through her friends and work she touched many hearts. Donna will be sadly missed by everyone and her MSN cancer care support group.
Special thanks to Saint Boniface Palliative Care Unit for their care and compassion to Donna and her family.
Memorial service to be held on October 20, 2007 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the reception centre.

Mrs. Edith May Zimmerman
September 8, 1919 - October 17, 2007
Edith May Zimmerman (Taylor) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, Edith passed away at the Bethania Personal Care Home at the age of 88 years.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters; Beverley (John) Venn and Diane Zimmerman, grandchildren; Roger (Darlene) Venn, Ryan Venn, Barry (Krista) Venn and Danielle Dyck, great-grandchildren Kaylynne and Travis.
She is survived by her sisters-in-law Irene Taylor, Pat Taylor, Louise Kletke, Norma Schuh, Fern Zimmerman and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years Ron in 2002, her parents Fred and Elsie Taylor, brothers Fred Taylor and Wally Taylor, parents-in-law John and Philipina Zimmerman, sisters-in-law Sophie Platz and Caroline Zimmerman, brothers-in-law Edward Zimmerman, Ewald (Buddy) Zimmerman, Wallie Platz and Bill Kletke.
Edie was born in Winnipeg on September 8, 1919. She grew up in Elmwood and worked along with her father and brother at Ogilvie’s.
She loved skating, and it was there she met and later married her sweetheart Ron in 1942. They were long time members of Gordon King Memorial United Church, where mom enjoyed sharing her delicious dainties at coffee hour. We all enjoyed her great cooking, especially roast beef and Yorkshire pudding on Sundays. She took great care in all she did for her family and we will always remember with admiration her beautiful knitting, spotlessly clean home, and perfectly ironed shirts.
Most importantly she loved her family and will cherish the many memories of the times we spent together.
With sincere appreciation we wish to thank the staff at Rosewood Village and Bethania for the comfort, compassion and dignity given to our Mother during her stay.
A Memorial service and reception will be held on Monday, October 22, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street.

Mrs. Janet Ann Edwards

Loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, auntie, great-auntie, friend.
Quickly and quietly on the morning of October 19, 2007 Janet Ann Edwards passed away in her home.
Janet was predeceased by her father James Parris. Janet is survived by her husband Carlton; sons CJ, Nigel, and Nolan; mother Vivian; sister Dorothy; brothers James (Diane) and Marshall; sister-in-law of Pam, Barbara, Paul, Colin, and John; nieces and nephews Keiley (Blair), Douglas, Keelan, Ashlen, and Damon; grandchild Felicia and three others; great-niece and nephew Sierra and Graham; cat Tigger; and friends.
Janet was born on April 23, 1957 in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Janet was an amazing person. She was employed by the Federal Government for 31 years where she actively participated in many multicultural committees, sat on the board of PEASC and earned her certificate in Human Resource Management. She will truly be missed and forever loved.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at 3:00 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave.

Mrs. Jessie Davidson

Jessie Davidson passed away peacefully, on Monday, October 22, 2007, Jessie Hannah Davidson (Nee McArthur) passed away at the Charleswood Care Center at the age of 96 years.
Jessie was born at Swan River, Manitoba on September 1, 1911, the daughter of Margaret and Archibald McArthur. She is survived by her three granddaughters, Deanna (James) Haggarty of Athabasca, Alberta, Trina (Andrew Sinclair) of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Melissa (Gary) Horbas of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and their mother Wilda Davy and two sons Andrew and Patrick Maxwell, and three great-grandchildren Cody Haggarty, Dallin Haggarty, and Nolan Horbas. She also leaves two sisters, Lillian Dunn, and Evelyn Suggitt, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Walter, son Robert, brother John and two sisters, Maude (Gordon) and Edith (McIntosh), and great-grandson Braden Haggarty.
In 1943, on November 25, Jessie married Walter Davidson. They farmed in the Lidstone district, and spent their winters down south until retiring to Winnipeg in 1980.
She was a member of the Lidstone Women's Institute, Rebekah Lodge, and 4H. She will be remembered for her kindness, gentle nature, and strength. She was a treasure and a real joy to be with.
The memories she has left will be a healing for our sorrow. We are grateful for a very caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and dear friend.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 26, at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Interment will take place at a later date in Swan River.

April 1, 1923 to October 26, 2007
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Tom, late Friday night. Although unprepared and not ready to give him up yet, he has now been reunited in Heaven with his loving wife Ruth who left this earth 10 years ago and whom he missed incredibly. They will rest in peace together.
A good, kind, and loving family man, he will be remembered and missed by daughter’s and their families Linda, Judy and Robert, and Kelly and Brett, grandchildren Daniel, Jeffery, Aileen, Anna, Melanie; sisters Mary (Arthur), and Gloria; and many friends made over the years.
Tom worked for the CNR on Main Street his entire career, retiring in 1985 from the Regional Equipment Dept. after 38 years.
Regular get togethers with family and friends was very important to Dad, as were lunches out at his favorite restaurant, Maxime’s. His wit, humor, and great stories will be missed by all.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 2, 2007 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint). Interment to take place in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the reception centre.

Alice McDonald (Roy)
September 13, 1913 ~ October 28, 2007
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Alice McDonald at the St. Boniface Hospital.
Alice was predeceased by her first husband Frank Klippenstein.
She leaves to mourn her five children Evelyn (Victor), Arthur (Sylvia) Joan, Arlene, and Brenda (David). She also leaves behind her 15 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren who have always known her as “Grandma the Great”, many relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.
Alice lived in Winnipeg until 1966. She moved to B.C. and lived there for 30 years. She returned to Manitoba in 1997.
She was always admired for her beauty and was well liked by her peers and caregivers. She loved to travel. One of her favorite destinations was Thailand, which she visited 5 times from 2000 to 2005. Hawaii was also a favorite and she spent many winter get-aways there. Every year she visited her children in MB, ON and Washington State. The list would be extensive if all the places that she traveled to were included.
A special thank you goes to Dr. Nadine Fontigney and the caregivers at the Tache Centre for their excellent care.

Mrs. Joanne Lorraine Sarna (Legge)
April 8, 1958 - November 7, 2007
Thoughts and prayers go out to our angel, Joanne Sarna. The greatest Mom, wife, sister and friend. Her ten-year battle with cancer ended late Wednesday night surrounded by family and her husband Tom Sarna at her side. She is now in a better place, enjoying her pain free life with long time friend Darlene and parents Mildred and Mason Legge.
She was an angel sent down to earth to spread her love and wisdom to everyone she met. She will be greatly missed by her husband Tom Sarna and kids; Gillian and Joshua Parry, Meghan, Philip, Joshua and Zachary Sarna. Her mother-in-law Joyce Sarna and sister-in-law Joanne Sarna. Her brothers and sisters: Gord and Carol Legge, Christina and John Gulyas, John and Martha Legge, Rob and Rose Legge and her many nieces and nephews. Her soul sisters, daughters and avid lunch goers; Karen Bassett, Karen Mc Gregor, Eva Karpyza, Michelle Jonker, Suzi Prazeres, Lindsay McKnight, Judy Bargain, Jennifer Okaluk, Janice Farion, Cathi Parenti, Susan and Louise, and many more girlfriends who took her out for breakfast and lunch every day of the week! Words cannot explain this awesome lady! Her spirit will live on as she planted a piece of herself in everyone she met.
Joanne was a warrior who never let her illness get the best of her. She wrote a testimonial titled “I’m living to live, not living to die”, which explains exactly who she is. She was to read it November 18th, at her church, The Lighthouse. Her husband will now be reading it, with her shining spirit nearby.
For anyone who knew Joanne, “Leggey”, “Mommy”, “Jo-Jo”, “Jay-Jay”, “Joanney”, “Buzzard”, or any other name known to describe her, a celebration of her life will be held on Monday, November 12th, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. If you plan on attending, Joanne had asked that the women wear something pink, and the men wear something either blue or black.
You may be gone Mom, but your spirit will live within us forever and shine through. We’ll love you forever, we’ll like you for always, as long as were living, our Momma you’ll be. XOXO

Maria Pilar Bautista (Nee Sarte)
Peacefully, on Wednesday, November 7, 2007, Maria Pilar passed away at the Grace Hospital at the age of 93 years.
Left to mourn are her children: Fely B. Paredes, Boy (Neneng) Bautista, Celia (Arnel) Purificacion all of Winnipeg, Emong (Bining), Maning (Lucy), Ben (Lydia), Bautista, Henia (David) Paredes, Ising (Etoy) Tabing, Cely Bella, all of Philippines, and daughter in law Mila Bautista of Las Vegas, Nevada, as well as numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Maria Pilar was predeceased by her parents Felix Sarte and Jacinta Sapanghila, her beloved husband Felipe, son Tana, brothers, sisters, and sons in law Narciso Paredes, Esting Bella and dear infant grandson Jowel Paredes.
Visitation (Lamay) will be held Friday and Saturday, November 23, 24, between 6:00 p.m. and 12:00 midnight with a funeral service both nights at 8:00 pm, Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd.
Lola Pay will be taken home to the Philippines to be with her beloved husband and family.

Mrs. Isabelle Gardener Goodbrandson
March 2, 1932 - November 6, 2007
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mom, grandmother and friend. Isabelle Goodbrandson passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 6th, 2007.
Isabelle is survived by daughter Gail (Robert), sons, Gary (Linda) and Garth (Lisa), grandchildren Shawn, Chris (Veronica), Jonathan (Caryn), Leanne, Samantha and Dale. She is also survived by her brother Jim Edwards (Vivian) and sister Betty Hepting (Hal).
She was predeceased by her loving husband Siggi and her parents Richard and Elizabeth Edwards.
Mom was born on March 2, 1932. Dad and mom were married in 1951. Mom was a devoted and caring wife and mother and a friend to many. She was well known as a fantastic cook who loved to entertain family and friends.
She curled and golfed for many years. And, anyone who has ever walked with her needed track shoes to keep up with her. Isabel was an accomplished seamstress and she also knitted wonderful scarves, mitts, coats and blankets for all her grandchildren.
With a warm sense of humour and a beautiful smile, our fondest memories of mom were Sunday dinners of roast beef and Yorkshire Pudding.
Mom struggled the last several years of her life with Alzheimer’s. It was a sad, long journey where eventually she no longer knew family or friends. We are very grateful to the staff of Riverview Health Centre for their exceptional care of our mother. We are also grateful to Elizabeth McBride who visited and cared for mom for the past several years. Elizabeth made her daily life so much easier.
Mom is now at peace and reunited with her husband and our dad Siggi. Mom will be deeply and sadly missed.
A private family service to honour her memory and to celebrate her life will take place. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire donations can be made to the Riverview Health Centre, The Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba or The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
