ARNOLD BRANDT
Arnold Brandt of Steinbach passed away at the Bethesda Hospital on Monday, February 14, 2011 at the age of 73 years.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years Gertrude (nee Penner); children Jennifer (Les) Friesen, Josie Brandt, Heidi (Cameron) Wiebe, Marlowe (Meg), Darcen (Feleana), Quincy; 14 grandchildren; his brother Dave (Mary), brother-in-law Henry Plett, sister-in-law Annie Brandt,. He was predeceased by his parents George and Elizabeth Brandt, seven brothers and two sisters.
Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Thursday, February 17 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held Friday, February 18 at 2:00 p.m. at Southland Community Church, 52 Hwy W, Steinbach. Interment at the Blumenort EMC Cemetery.
If friends so desire donations may be made to Four Winds Project, a ministry of Southland Community Church, Box 219, Steinbach, Manitoba R5G 1M2 or to assist the family with funeral expenses.

VERNA ANN PROULX (Nee Easton)
Verna was called upon by the Lord. At home, with her family by her side, peacefully the angels carried her to heaven.
A celebration of Verna’s life will be held Monday, Feb. 28 at 1 p.m. at the Ste Anne Roman Catholic Church, Mass at 1:30 p.m. with Father René Chartier officiating. Interment to follow at the Ste. Anne Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Verna’s memory to Cancer Care Manitoba or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
GERHARD ENS
Gerhard Ens passed away at the age of 88 on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011 with his family by his side.
His memory is held dear by his wife Anni; children Helen, Anne and Michael, Gerhard and Denise, Werner and Christine, and Waldy and Janet; grandchildren Diana and Mathias, Philip, David, Brian, Eric, Tommy, Karin, Gerald, Sarah and Lynette; siblings and in-laws Betty Ens, Sara Ens, Bill Penner, Helen Ens, Abe and Helen Ens, Adolf and Anna Ens, Mary-Anne Zacharias, Werner and Marlene Ens and Armin and Caroline Ens and their families.
He was predeceased by his parents Gerhard and Helena Ens, brothers Frank, Henry and Ernie, his sister Margaret Penner, sister-in-law Jean, son-in-law Dietmar Ens and brother-in-law Frank Zacharias.
There will be a viewing at the Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church on Thursday, Feb. 17 between 7 and 8 p.m. with a meditation at 7:15 p.m. The memorial service will be held on Friday, Feb. 18 at 11 a.m., also at Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church on Sargent and Garfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mennonite Foundation of Canada (12-1325 Markham Rd), designated for the Gerhard and Margaretha Ens Endowment Fund Scholarship.
MARGARET LOEWEN GIESBRECHT
Margaretha (Margaret) Loewen Giesbrecht, born Mar. 7, 1915 near Steinbach, went to be with her Saviour on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011. She is lovingly remembered by her sisters Elizabeth (Winnipeg) and Mary (Vancouver) and her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her five brothers Ben, Jake, William, Cornelius and Pete and two sisters Anna and Tina.
Margaret dedicated her life to being a missionary teacher, touching the lives of countless children from Northern Manitoba, NWT, BC, Costa Rica and Japan. She was a student of the Word and ministered to others as a way of life.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, Feb. 15 at 11 a.m. at Willingdon Church in Burnaby, BC with interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Burnaby.
JOSEPH HOVORKA
Joe Hovorka died at the age of 96 on Tuesday February 8th, 2011 at the Altru Roseau Hospital.
Joe was predeceased by his wife Lillian of 72 years, father and mother Anton & Maria, two brothers Tony and Frank and sister Annie, one brother-in-law, Andrew Szeliga, three sisters-in-law, Rosie, Margaret and Mary, and one son-in-law, Wayne Banker. Remaining to forever cherish his memory are five children, Marvin (Doris) Hovorka, Muriel Banker, Linda (Ray) Smith, Terry Hovorka, Brian Hovorka, and their families.
Funeral services will be held Friday February 18th, 2011 at the Vassar Catholic Church. Family viewing is from 12:00 to 12:30 p.m. Public viewing is from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Church service will be at 1:30 p.m. followed by lunch and celebration of his life at the Vassar Hall.

REV. HENRY DUECK
Rev. Henry Unger Dueck, born July 24, 1929, near Steinbach, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 8, 2011. He is survived by his beloved wife Maria (Friesen), his six children, their spouses, 19 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter.
Henry dedicated the greater part of his life serving his Lord and Saviour in Pastoral ministry. His legacy of gentle wisdom, love and patience lives on in his family and the many lives he touched.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, February 13 at 3:00 p.m. at Word of Life Mission Church in Niverville with interment at Hespeler Cemetery.

Mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Elisabeth Kroeker, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on February 7, 2011 at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Steinbach, Manitoba at the age of 92.
Mom was predeceased by her husband, Jacob L. Kroeker, and two sons, Dennis in 2007 and Peter in infancy. She is survived by eight children, Rosalind (Irvin Dueck), Laura (Al Friesen), daughter-in-law, Janice, Erma, Dave (Agnes), Elda (John Enns), Ray (Louella), Clarice (Roger Plett), Vern (Anne); 27 grandchildren and their families.
Viewing will be at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Dr, Steinbach on Thursday, February 10 at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place at the Evangelical Mennonite Church, 422 Main St, Steinbach on Friday, February 11 at 2:00 p.m. Interment at Heritage Cemetery.

It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Harry Woroniuk on September 23, 2011 at the age of 63 years at his residence in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Harry was born in Vita, Manitoba on April 15, 1948. He will be missed and remembered by his family and friends.
Harry is survived by his two daughters, Laura (David) and Carrie (Kelly); and was the proud grandpa to his grandsons Brennan, Carson & Gavin and his granddaughter Abigail; his mother Mary Suprowich; and his brother Bill (Iris), and his sisters Marge, OIga and Elsie.
Harry was predeaced by his father George Woroniuk, his stepfather Nick Suprowich and his nephew, Raymond Eliuk.
In accordance with Dad’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 1:30 in Vita, Manitoba at the Vita Funeral Home, 256 Railway Avenue, Vita, Mb.

On Friday, September 23, 2011 Ray passed away in Bethesda Hospital.
Ray was dearly loved by many, many people, starting with his wife Linda, daughter Laura (Grant), and grandchildren Brandon, Dixie & Austin Baldwin. He is also survived by daughter Carol (Don) & Brittany & son Jeff (Glenna) & Ryan. His extended family includes his sister Doris and her children Al (Dora), Norm (Dee), Tom (Linda), Brian (Kathy), and Sandra (Stacey); his niece Shirley (Jerry) from his late sister Vera (Jim); and the New Zealand relatives from his late brother Wally (Mary). He is also survived by Rudy & Adelina (father & mother-in-law), Mark & Connie & family, Richard & Donna & family, Ron & Deirdre & family, Al & Kerstin and family, Dorlan & Corinne, Robert & Angela & family. He was also predeceased by sister-in-law Carol.
A memorial service will take place on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach.

On September 21, 2011 Eugene passed away at the Vita P. C. H.Eugene was born April 14, 1923 at Vita. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Anne of 65 years, daughter Elizabeth, grandson Scott, numerous in laws and one cousin Bill Andrusiak of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
He was predeceased by his parents Peter &Glikeria and one brother Walter.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the departure of Therese Nelson, who passed away peacefully at the Glenboro Personal Care Home on September 20, 2011. Therese was predeceased by her beloved husband Harley and leaves behind sons and daughters Loren (Janice) Nelson of Glenboro, Wayne Nelson of Glenboro, Celeste (Larry) West of Winnipeg, Roger (Grace) Nelson of Calgary, Dolores (Ron) Friesen of Winnipeg, Mark Nelson of Winnipeg, Marie Nelson of Winnipeg, Renee (John) Gray of Winnipeg, 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister Georgette Major of St. Norbert, her brother Michel (Marien) Richard of Folly Beach, SC, sister-in-law Clarice Pospishel of Winnipeg and many more nieces, nephews and cousins.
Prayers and viewing will be held at 7:30pm on Friday, September 23 at the Willmor Chapel in Glenboro. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at the St. James Catholic Church, Baldur MB on Saturday September 24, 2011 at 11:00 am with Father Philip Malayil officiating. Afterward, interment will take place at the Glenboro Cemetery with a reception to follow at the C.E. Building in Glenboro.
