JOSEF BACHMEIER
The family of Josef Bachmeier announces his peaceful passing at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach with his family at his side, on September 18, 2011, at the age of 87.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife of 60 years Renate, and their three sons; Axel (Lydia) of Winnipeg; Ron (Carol) of New Bothwell and Reinhard (Rose) of Kleefeld. Along with them he also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and their spouses, and nine great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with interment at Heritage Cemetery.

CARROLL ANN KNOX (nee Laing)
With great sadness we announce the death of Carroll, wife and mother, who peacefully passed away the Bethesda Hospital, Steinbach, MB.
Carroll was predeceased by her parents Harry and Ann, her parents-in-law George and Mary.
Carroll is survived by her husband of 44 years, Barry of Paradise Village, Ste. Anne, her daughter Kim (Glenn) Laycock of Thompson, her son Blake (Tracy) of Seattle, Washington, grandchildren Brady, Trent, and Lance Laycock, Sienna and Justin Knox, and Ethan Wright. She is also survived by her sisters Sandra (Murray) of Kelowna, B.C., Nancy of Ottawa, ON; sister-in-law Rosemary of Sherbrooke, PQ. She also leaves four nieces and three nephews as well as numerous grand nieces and grand nephews.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service and celebration of Carroll’s life was held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach, MB. Flowers are gratefully declined.
For those who wish, a donation to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3, or a charity of choice would be appreciated.

JOHANN FUNK
Johann Funk, 81, of Richer, MB passed away at his residence on Friday, September 16, 2011.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sophia Dale (nee Kork); son Donald (Krissy Kirkpatrick) Funk of Anola, grandchildren River and Reese; son Gerald, grandchildren Darcy and Dallas Funk of Richer, Jodi (Priscilla) Funk, grandchildren Robin and Matthew; Aaren Pelletier of Steinbach, grandchildren Darlene and David.
He was predeceased by his parents Aaron and Suzanna Funk of Menisino, MB.
The funeral service will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Saturday, September 24 at 10:00 a.m. with interment at the Menisino Cemetery.

GERARD (GERRY) HRECHANYK
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Gerry Hrechanyk, of La Broquerie, MB. After a brief but courageous battle with cancer, Gerry peacefully passed away surrounded by his family at the Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, at the age of 55.
Gerry leaves behind to celebrate his life, Angela, his wife of 28 years, and sons Aaron and Kyle; his sisters, Anne (Wes) Keating and Marianne Curtis; four nieces, two nephews, a grand-niece and grand-nephew.
He was predeceased by his father Zon in 1997 and mother Helene in 2009.
A celebration of Gerry’s life will take place Wednesday, Sept. 21 at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach. Interment followed at the Sandilands Cemetery. In Gerry’s memory, the family requested those attending the funeral to bring out their classic automobiles.
In lieu of flowers, a trust account has been set up at the Steinbach Credit Union to assist the family. Donations may also be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in his memory.
ALEX NENKA
Peacefully at his residence, Alex passed away at the St Adolph Nursing Home, St Adophle, Manitoba on September 15, 2001 at the age of 68 years.
In memory of Alex a Memorial Service will be held in Alex’s home town of Vita, Manitoba at Vita Funeral Home 256 Railway Avenue Saturday, Sept. 24 at 11:00am. He will be laid to rest beside his mother following the service.

TARAS WERYHA
Taras Weryha of Steinbach passed away at the Bethesda Hospital on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at the age of 70 years.
He is survived by his wife Verna, two daughters, three sons, a god-son and their families.
The funeral Service will take place at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Monday, September 19 at 2:00 p.m. with interment at the St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery in Sarto. Viewing will be held Sunday, September 18 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 8:00 p.m. and at the church prior to the service.

ALFRED PAUL JANZ
Peacefully on Friday, September 9, at age 83, Dad went home to be with his Lord and Saviour at the Rest Haven Nursing Home in Steinbach. Born to Artur Janz and Erna Janz (nee) Goetzke, he was predeceased by his wife Kathrine Janz (nee Wiebe), one son in infancy, three brothers and four sisters. He is survived by six children, Mark, Paula (Paul), Art (Robin), Irene (Boris), Christine (Danny), and Andrew (Trina), and ten grandchildren.
Dad was born and raised in Klien Marianwalda, East Prussia. He survived WWII and immigrated to Canada December 23, 1951. Dad moved to Winnipeg the fall of 1959 and took employment at Health Sciences Centre, where he met Mom. They were married in October 1960. In 1975 the family moved to Middlebro, Manitoba. Soon after Mom passed away in December 1997, Dad moved to Steinbach, where he enjoyed his last years.
Funeral will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach on Saturday, September 17 at 1:00 p.m., with viewing a half hour prior to the service. Burial at Full Gospel Mission Cemetery in Sprague. A special thanks to Jack Moran, Werner and Hilda Janz, and the caring staff at Rest Haven and Vita care homes.

JEANNETTE STELMACK
Peacefully, with her family by her side, Jeannette passed away Friday, September 9 at Bethesda Hospital. She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 40 years John, son Mike (Susanna), daughter Karen, brothers Arthur (Gladys), Armand (Joan), her sister Rita (Mike), numerous nieces and nephews and many close friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Bethesda Hospital for their excellent care. We would also like to say a special thank you to Dr. Reimer, the palliative care nurses Anne and Debbie as well as all her home care staff.
In keeping with our mother’s wishes cremation has taken place and there will be a private burial at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

EDWARD KOSHELANYK
We announce the tragic and unexpected passing of Edward Koshelanyk at his home on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011 at the age of 59 years.
Eddie was born in Vita on Jan. 11, 1952 to Marco and Lena Koshelanyk of Caliento, MB.
He was predeceased by his mother Lena Koshelanyk on Oct. 28, 2010 and baby brother in 1962. Eddie is survived by his father Marco, his brothers Jim (Lee) and Tom (Marg), his sisters Christine and Marianne (Roger), and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Eddie’s funeral took place on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 11 a.m. at Vita Funeral Home in Vita, MB with interment in the Caliento National Cemetery, Caliento.
In lieu of flowers or donations, please do an act of kindness, as Eddie had done many times.

ELSIE BIEDLER
Elsie Biedler, 85, of Steinbach passed away at her residence on Thursday, September 8, 2011.
She is survived by five daughters, two sons, one son-in-law and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Edward in 2007 and her daughter Donna in 2008.
Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Sunday, September 11 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. and at the church prior to the service. The funeral service will be held Monday, September 12 at 2:00 p.m. the St Paul Lutheran Church in Steinbach with interment at the St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hwy #12 South.

ELLA MANTIE
Ella Mantie of Winnipeg passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011 at the Tuxedo Villa Care Home at the age of 91.
She was born in Konijadt, Germany on Aug. 31, 1920 and settled with her family in Tenby, MB on June 9, 1924.
Left to mourn her passing: son David Dollis (Margit), step-daughter Deloris Podjan (Ed), daughter-in-law Elma Mantie-Schade (Willi), 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren along with nieces and nephews.
Interment will be held at the St Paul's Cemetery in Steinbach, MB at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 16 followed by a celebration of Ella's life at Grace Lutheran Church, 211 Kimberly Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R2K 0X3 at 2 p.m.

GERALD (Jerry) CLAUDE VINET
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our much loved father and grandfather, Jerry on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at age 71, at the Health Science Centre Winnipeg, Manitoba.
He was predeceased by his parents Alphonse and Jeannette, brother Andre, and niece Danielle Tetreault.
Jerry is survived by daughters; Michele (Ken) Gurman of Vita, and Lisa (Duane) Lammens of Chatham, Ont. Grandchildren Ryan Vinet of Catham Ont. Kendra and Dylan Gurman of Vita. brothers; Rene (Sonya), Armand, Lionel (Marilyn), Albert, Joseph (Tracey), and by sister Eunice and numerous nieces and nephews. Also left to mourn his memory is Nola Camplin ( Mother of Michele and Lisa).
Jerry spent most of his working life logging in Swan River,Mb. In lieu of flowers, donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation, Cancer Society, or the Humane Society.
Funeral Service for Jerry will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 5:30pm at Vita Funeral Home, Vita, Manitoba.

Ed passed away suddenly on Monday, September 5, 2011 at the Health Sciences Centre Cancer Care.
Ed is survived by his brother Glen Schalla, sister Shirley (Dave) Funk and brother Gary (Jackie); nieces Shawna (Richard) Kroeker, Natasha (Tim Fry, Roxie (Jon) Poetker, Kelsey Schalla (Kevin) Wynn; as well as friend and business partner Shirley Hein and her children and grandchildren: Trevor (Karen) Stadnyk, Deiter, Katlyn, and Breana.

Joseph Zigarlick, 93, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2011 at his residence in the RM of Ste. Anne, MB.
He was predeceased by his wife Antoinie in 1985.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 26 at 11:00 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach.
