Peter A. Martens, of Steinbach, MB passed away at the Bethesda Hospital on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the age of 72 years.
He is survived by his wife Agnes of 45 years; three sons James (Cheryl) and their children Cheyanne and Elena, Jeff (Bonny) and their children Dominic, Barrett, Alex and Cole; and Jason (Kathryn) and their children Brielle and Riley; three brothers. He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Margaret Martens and one brother.

It is with great sadness and love that we announce the passing of our son and brother on May 16, 2013, at the age of 50. After a courageous battle with cancer, he passed away at the Bethesda Hospital.
He will be lovingly remembered by his mom, Margaret, his brother Randy (Brenda), his sister Kathy (Jeremy), his niece Robyn (Troy), and his special friend Kitty Murno.
He was predeceased by his father Bob, his brothers Richard and John Roy.
As per Mike’s wishes, a private gathering with immediate family has taken place.

Paulette Courcelles, 55, of St. Malo, MB, passed away Monday, May 20, 2013, at St. Pierre Hospital.

David K. Reimer, 95, of Steinbach, passed away Monday, May 20, 2013 at Bethesda Hospital.
He is survived by his wife Emma Reimer, three daughters, four sons and their families.
He was predeceased by four brothers, three sisters, two grandsons and three great-grandsons.

Edward Peter Doerksen, 65, of Winnipeg (Niverville), passed away Monday, May 20, 2013 at the St. Adolphe Personal Care Home.
He is survived by three sisters, two brothers and their families.
He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Katharina Doerksen and one brother.
Cremation has taken place. The memorial service will be Sunday, May 26, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel.

Donald J. Friesen, 71, of Steinbach, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Bethesda Place Personal Care Home.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma (nee Goertzen), three daughters, one sister, three brothers, two sisters-in-law and all their families. He was predeceased by two brothers.
The funeral will be Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Steinbach EMC, 422 Main St, with burial at Heritage Cemetery. Viewing will be Monday, May 27 at Birchwood Funeral Chapel at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 and at the church prior to the service.

BERNADETTE (BETTY) BOIVIN (NEE VANDAL)
March 30, 1917 – May 25, 2013
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Bernadette Boivin, 96, of Giroux, MB.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Arthur in 1975.
Left to cherish her memory are her two sons Aime (Margaret, deceased) and Edmond (Jean), numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Matilda Friesen (nee Loewen), 88, of Steinbach, passed away Monday, May 27, 2013 at Rest Haven Nursing Home.
She is survived by her husband Erwin Friesen, one daughter, three sons, eight step-children, one sister, five brothers and all their families. She was predeceased by her first husband Rev. J. N. Hiebert.
The funeral will be Friday, May 31 at 3:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel with burial at Memorial Cemetery in Steinbach. Visitation will be at Birchwood on Thursday, May 30 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 and at the chapel prior to the service.

LEANDER LOEWEN
Leander (Lee) Loewen passed away suddenly on May 27, 2013 at the age of 67 years.
Predeceased by his parents, John D. and Helen Loewen, he is survived by his sisters, Marian (Stan Houghton), Ramona (Henry Klassen), Corrine (Alfred Warkentin), Loris, and Priscilla (Daryl Martz); and by his brothers, Jack (Helen), Barry, and Kelvin (Jocelyn). He was much loved by all his nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by many lifelong friends.
The family is thankful for the efforts of the first responders of the Steinbach Emergency Medical Service.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 1, at 2:00 p.m. at the Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfield Drive, Steinbach. Viewing will be immediately prior to the service. A private interment will be at a later date.
Donations in Lee’s name may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.

LOTTIE DUECK
We are sad to announce the sudden passing of, age 42, on May 28, 2013 at Boundary Trails Health Centre, Winkler, MB.
Lottie was a daughter, sister, aunt and friend and will never be forgotten. Lottie could always be counted on to have a smile on her face and light up a room with her presence. There was nothing she enjoyed more than spending time with her family and friends with a good cup of coffee. For her every niece and nephew that came into her life it was as special to her as the first one. She always made sure there was someone with a camera around to seize the moment and always had a big grin when holding them for the first time.
Lottie was predeceased by her dad John Dueck in April 1986. She has gone to be with him now. She will be missed by many whose hearts she stole even if it was only one meeting in their lifetime.
The family is thankful for all the years of support from Kindale Industries and also the staff at Bethesda Hospital, the Paramedics at Steinbach EMS and also the Staff at Boundary Trails Hospital.
A service to remember Lottie was held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach, on Monday, June 3, at 1:00 p.m. with interment at Hespeler Cemetery, Niverville.

ANN REKUNYK
Ann Rekunyk (April 6, 1926 - May 30, 2013) passed away peacefully at the Concordia Hospital in Winnipeg on May 30, 2013. Ann’s parents were Stuartburn pioneers Iwan (John) and Katerena (Pidhirny) Rekunyk. She is predeceased by her brothers Bill, Mike, Peter and Maurice, as well as sisters Mary Kadyniuk and Olga Bauer. Remaining to cherish her memory are her nieces and nephews Beverley Bauer (Ken Marcynuk), Lynn Tsivos (Vass), Cathy Kadyniuk, Sharon Rekunyk, Ron Rekunyk, Wayne Bauer and Barkley Bauer.
A funeral service will be held on Friday June 7, 2013 at 10:30 am at Vita Funeral Home Vita, Manitoba with Father LeClare officiating. Interment to follow at the Ukrainian Catholic Church Cemetery in Stuartburn, Manitoba.

Eva Schellenberg, 78, of Steinbach passed away at the Bethesda Hospital on Friday, May 31, 2013.
She is survived by four daughters, one son and their families.
She was predeceased by her husband Jake in 2008 and one son in infancy.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, June 6 at 2:00 p.m. at the Evangelical Mennonite Church, 422 Main St, in Steinbach with viewing prior to the service. Interment at Heritage Cemetery.

STANLEY GRANT FULKERSON
At his home, after a short battle with cancer, Grant Fulkerson passed away peacefully on May 31, 2013. Grant was born Dec. 28, 1940, in Dauphin, the first child of Rufus and Mabel Fulkerson of the Bay Centre district.
Grant is survived by his wife, Linda, three sons: Scott (Andrea) of Gibsons, BC, Warren (Adele) of Port Alice, BC and Carter (Pam) of Sechelte, BC; and six grandchildren: Hunter, Madison, Lauren, Liam, Bonnie and Melanie; two sisters: Marion (Dennis) Storozinski of Dauphin and Eva (Morris) Mazurkewich of Gilbert Plains; also nieces, nephews and extended family. Grant was predeceased by one son, Ian, of Vancouver, BC, his parents, Rufus and Mabel Fulkerson, and his in-laws, Allan and Alberta Bell of Brandon.
Interment of Stanley’s ashes in the family plot in Dauphin will take place at a later date. We wish to thank the Ste. Anne Home Care and Palliative Care for their assistance and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
