KATHERINE (KAY) JONES

Katherine (Kay) Jones (nee Reimer), 98 years of age, passed away peacefully at the Rest Haven Nursing Home, Steinbach, MB on April 27, 2013. She will be lovingly remembered by her brother John K. Reimer and sisters Martha Schellenberg and Elma Wiebe, two sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law and their families. She will live on in the memory of numerous nieces and nephews who called her one of their favourite aunts! Kay will also be remembered by the Jones family in Florida. She was predeceased by husbands Jack Krentz and Leon Jones, five sisters and five brothers.

The funeral service will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Saturday, May 4 at 2:00 p.m. with interment at Heritage Cemetery

With great sadness and heavy hearts we regret to announce the passing on April 28 of our dear father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend.

Dad lived a full and wonderful life devoted to his cherished family.

A service celebrating his life will be held at Greenridge United Church Greenridge, Manitoba Friday, May 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m

DAVID BRAUN
December 17, 1932 - April 28, 2013.

David Braun, 80, of Grunthal, MB passed at the St. Pierre Hospital. He is survived by three sons and five daughters: Eugene (Sara), Karen (Rick), Anita (Ray), Sheila (Murray), Maxine (Larry), Mona (Gerry), Casey (Terri), Chester (Lina); 25 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 3, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Grunthal Bergthaler Church with Pastor John Wiebe officiating.

DONALD SMITH

We are saddened to announce the sudden passing of Donald George Smith on April 29, 2013 at the age of 64 at Bethesda Hospital. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 43 years, Judy; his daughters Tanya (Tim) and Shannon (Danny); his grandchildren Sheldon, Bradley and Genna; brother Larry (Shirley); sisters Deanna (Dick), Carol (Garth) and Vicki (Wayne); numerous nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his father and mother, George and Clarice, brother Ted and sister Dolly, brother-in-law Maurice.

Don was cremated and a memorial service will be held to celebrate his life on Monday, May 6, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Marchand Community Centre. The family would like to thank all family and friends for all their prayers, words of encouragement, cards and expressions of sympathy. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dad's memory can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

BURTON WOHLGEMUTH

Unexpectedly, but peacefully in his sleep, Burt left us on April 30, 2012. As an infant, he was not expected to celebrate his first birthday. We would have celebrated 53 on July 31, 2012. Left to celebrate his presence in their lives and miss his love and enjoyment of the moment are his siblings: Russell (Karen and family), Dennis, and Brenda, his family and friends at 502 Penner, the Martha P Rempel Centre for Development, the entire en Vision community and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Gladwin (1995) and Nancy (1990).

A come and go reception will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Thursday, May 2 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

The funeral service will be held Friday, May 3 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Mennonite Church, 430 Third St, Steinbach with interment at Heritage Cemetery.

LYONA ESTHER COSTINAK

Lyona Esther Costinak (nee Wiebe), age 73 of Steinbach MB was ushered into the arms of her Lord and Savior April 30, 2013 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Left to cherish and celebrate her memory are her husband David, daughter Sharlene (Dave) Reimer, son Brian (Tina) Kauste grandchildren Corbin, Donovan, Derek, Ethyn and Elijah, siblings; Dorothy Aarhus, Sophie (John) Krahn, Irene (John) DeJager, Ben (Net) Wiebe, Delores (Stan) Plett, David (Dolores) Wiebe and Ruth McIntyre. She was predeceased by her brother Henry (Doris) Wiebe and brothers-in-law Vincent McIntyre and Ewald Aarhus.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Siloam Mission of Winnipeg, or Mid-Way Christian leadership under Morgan and Krista Serger.

A celebration of Lyona’s life will be held Tuesday, May 7 at 11:00 a.m. at the Steinbach Mennonite Brethren Church, 340 Second Street, with ash interment at a later date.

ALMA PERREAULT

Peacefully on May 1st, 2013 at Ste. Anne Hospital, Alma Marie Perreault (born Desrosiers) passed away at the age of 83.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Joseph and their eight children and partners Yvette (Sheila), Suzanne (Joanne), Gisele (Peg), Claude (Joanne), Denise (Rod), Daniel, Loui and Joel, their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Alma is survived by brother Louis, and sisters Marie-Louise (Thomas), Therese (Brown), and Denise (Daenick).

Funeral mass was held on Monday, May 6, 2013 following the viewing at 10:00 a.m. at the Ste. Anne Roman Catholic Church with cremation to follow. Ash interment at a later date.

GEORGE LEVESQUE

Peacefully, with courage and dignity, George passed away May 4, 2013 after a struggle with lung cancer.

George will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his children Denis (Marilyn), Gerry, Karen Stoetzel (Rick), Rick ( Tara) and Cindy. He also leaves to mourn 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his brothers Dollard (Yvonne), Ghislain, Guy (Ida), his sister Mimi, his in-laws Bob Tougas, Joan Levesque and Janine Carrière.

Cremation has taken place. A family memorial presentation (slide show and Eulogy) will commence at 12:30 p.m. (all welcome) followed by a funeral mass at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 11 at the Ste. Anne Roman Catholic Church.

DARLENE FRIESEN

Darlene Friesen, 46, of Steinbach, MB passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at her residence.

She is survived by her partner James Wilson, her father Gerald Lemay, one daughter, one son and their families as well as one sister and four brothers. She was predeceased by her mother Velma in 2005.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, May 15 at 2:00 p.m.

GARY BRANDT

Gary Brandt, 53, of London Ontario, formerly of Blumenort, MB passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013 at the London Health Science Centre.

He is survived by his mother Susie Brandt and his biological and adoptive siblings. He was predeceased by his biological parents and adoptive father Leonard Brandt.

The funeral service will be held Friday, May 17 at 2:00 p.m. at the Blumenort EMC Church with interment at the church cemetery prior to the service.

SUE HEIDE

Our beloved wife, mother and grandmother Sue went to be with her Lord on May 10, 2013. Sue was born on January 12, 1936 in Radville, Saskatchewan and moved to Brandon in 1945. At an early age Sue accepted Jesus Christ as her Saviour and continued to follow Him her entire life.

She was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Lena Penner; brother Henry, and sisters Nettie and Lil. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years Abe, her daughter Sherril (Wes) Reimer and son Kevin (Kathy) as well as seven grandchildren; Jody, Krista and Vanessa Reimer; Burke, Paige, Claire and Drew Heide. She is also survived by five brothers and two sisters and their families.

The memorial service was held Wednesday, May 15 at 2:00 p.m. at the Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church in Steinbach. Private burial at Heritage Cemetery.

If friends so desire donations may be made to the Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church Mission for the work of Jason and Shannon Hiebert in Bolivia.

JANIE WINTHER

Janie Winther, 91 of Dufresne, MB passed away at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach on Sunday, May 12, 2013.

She is survived by her husband Kai, three daughters, one son and their families. She was predeceased by three sons.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Janie’s life and 68 years of marriage will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, in Steinbach on Friday, May 24 at11:00 a.m. The memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 25 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ostenfeld Lutheran Church with ash interment at the church cemetery.

YVONNE THERESE DAY

Peacefully, Yvonne Thérèse Day (nee Perron) passed away on May 12, 2013 at Ste. Anne Hospital at the age of 82 years of age.

She was predeceased by husband Norman Day. Yvonne is survived by her children Allyson Drinnan, Janet Desautels (Guy), William Day and Suzanne Monteiro; and their families.

ANNA BELLE T. WIEBE

Peacefully on Saturday May 11, 2013 at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Steinbach, Anna passed away at the age of 98. Her twin Julius preceded her in 1987. Ann is survived by two sisters, one brother, two sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Anna Belle T. Wiebe will be held May 16, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach, with burial at Grunthal Cemetery,

We the family would like to extend our appreciation to all the caregivers at Birchwood Apartments, St. Adolphe and Rest Haven nursing homes where she lived. Anna called them her “Angels” Thank you.

On Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Tabor Home in Morden, MB, Henry Koop, aged 97 years formerly of Kleefeld went to his eternal rest.

He leaves to mourn his passing seven daughters, Dorothy (Isaac) Brown of Morden, Rachelle Koop of Edmonton, AB, Priscilla and Mike Belosevic of Edmonton, AB, Sandra and Gilles Bernier of Montreal, Que., Susan and Gerry Dirks of Squamish, BC, Debbie and Einar Sandland of Ile des Chenes, Eunice and Richard Emilson of Calgary, AB, six sons, Dan and Norma of Morden, Roy and Diane of Tofield, AB, Gordon and Lois of Morden, Jerry and Lois of Francois Lake, BC, Abe and Debbie of Equatorial Guinea, Africa, Tim and Mabel of Gig Harbour, Wash, 30 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and three sisters. He was predeceased by his wife, Sally (nee Plett) in 2006 and son-in-law, Isaac Brown in 2012.
