LAURA TOEWS

Laura Toews of Steinbach, formerly of Greenland MB passed away at Maplewood Manor on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the age of 75 years.

She is survived by two sisters, two brothers and their families.

She was predeceased by her parents Jacob and Elizabeth (Voth) Toews, one sister and one brother-in-law.

Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Saturday, August 17 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. and at the church prior to the service. The funeral service will be held Sunday, August 18 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in Greenland with interment at the Church Cemetery.

PHILIP STANLEY BAKER

Philip Stanley Baker sadly passed away suddenly at the age of 84 on August 15, 2013 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, MB.

He is survived by the love of his life, Marie Anne, who was by his side for 64 wonderful years, and three children Donna (Stan) Yaskiw, Dale (Bonnie) Baker and Ken (Lorena) Baker. He is also survived by his sister Ann Vaadland and grandchildren Jocyeln, London, KaraLee, Krista, Kody, Amber, Anisa, and Darwin, as well as eleven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; siblings Don, Bev and Jean; eldest daughter Carol and grandson Tate.

Funeral Services to honor Phil’s life will be held Tuesday, August 20th, 2013 at 2:00pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave, Winnipeg, MB.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bethesda Hospital, 316 Henry Street, Steinbach, MB R5G 0P9.

AGANETHA HILDEBRAND (NEE PETERS)

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Aganetha Hildebrand on Friday, August 16, 2013 at the age of 59 years.

She is survived by her husband Peter Hildebrand, her mother Cornelia Zacharias, four daughters, three sons and their families. She was predeceased by her father Jacob Peters, one daughter and two sisters.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Word of Life Mission Church, 233 Third St S., Niverville, with burial at the Hespeler Cemetery. Viewing will take place at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Wednesday, August 21 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30. Viewing will also be at the church prior to the service.

GARRY DUECK

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Garry Dueck. We lost Garry at Lake of the Woods on Monday, August 19, 2013. Garry will be forever missed by his wife and partner Cheryl, his brother Terry Dueck, Bill and Mary Peters, David and Lorna Peters, Tamara and Tony Fleming, his nieces and nephews, his family at G&E Homes, and his many treasured friendships. Garry was predeceased by his parents Ed and Mary Dueck.

Viewing and a gathering of friends will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Drive, Steinbach on Sunday, August 25 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 26, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Southland Community Church in Steinbach with interment at Heritage Cemetery.

MICHAEL JOSEPH HARSANY
1943 - 2013

Mike passed away on August 19, 2013 at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, MB.

Mike was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Maria and by his sister Anna’s husband Vince Sarhan. He is survived by his sister Ann Sarhan, brothers Emil and Rudy, nieces Kimberley and her children Callum and Savanna, Susan; nephews David, Shawn (Lisa) and their children Bradley and Riley.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Drive, Steinbach on Saturday, August 31 at 11:00 a.m. Interment at a later date.

WILLIAM (BILL) BRAUN

William (Bill) Braun of Grunthal, MB passed away at the St. Pierre Hospital on Sunday, August 25, 2013 at the age of 86 years.

He is survived by his wife Jessie, five daughters, three sons and their families.

The funeral service will be held at the Grunthal Bergthaler Mennonite Church on Thursday, August 29 at 2:00 p.m. with viewing prior to the service. Interment at Grunthal Cemetery.

DAVID KLIPPENSTEIN

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of David Klippenstein at the Menno Home in Grunthal, on Sunday, August 25th, 2013 at the age of 82 years. He was born on February 15th, 1931 in the Altona Bergthal District, MB.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Mary, two sons, Harvey (Rosie), Victor, four daughters, Brenda (Werner) Dueck, Clara (David) Martens, Shirley (Marvin) Kornelsen and Darlene Martin, four step-children, Kirk (Cathy) Czechmeister, Wendy (Murray) Shaw, Mike (Kim) Czechmeister, Keith (Toni) Czechmeister, 13 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, eight step grandchildren, three step great grandchildren, one brother, Pete Klippenstein, two sisters, Mary Reimer and Sarah Hiebert.

Dad was predeceased by his first wife, Susan (Doerksen) in 1985, his parents Abram and Eva Klippenstein, four brothers, one sister and many brothers and sisters-in-law.

A viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Thursday, August 29, at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. and at the church prior to the service.

A funeral service will be held Friday, August 30th at 2:00 p.m. in the Bergthaler Church in Grunthal with Pastor John Neufeld officiating. Interment will be at the Grunthal Cemetery following the service.

BEVERLEY DeMONTIGNY

After a lengthy battle with cancer, Beverley passed away at the Ste. Anne Hospital on Monday, August 26th, 2013 at the age of 75 years.

Bev is survived by her three sons, Dennis (Linda) of California, Fern Jr. (Carrie), Darrell (Christa); two daughters, Deborah (Stu) and Dawn (Charlie); grandchildren, Kim, Kristoffer, Whitney (Jay), Crystal (Brendan) Lucas, Derrich; great-grandchildren, Quinn, Maggie, Jordan, Cadence, Mekhyla, Justice, Braiden, Brooklyn, Meryk, Jason; numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews; brother Raymond and sister Shirley.

A memorial service will be held Friday, August 30 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.

PALMER AUSTINSON

It is with a saddened heart that we announce the passing of Palmer Austinson on Monday, Aug 26, 2013.

He will be forever cherished and forever missed by his loving family, wife Marilyn, daughter Samantha (Kiel), Miranda and son Dustin, sister Harriet, brothers Oliver (Lorraine), Gerry (Caroline), numerous nieces and nephews whom he adored.

Palmer was predeceased by daughter Kirsten, father Harry, mother Delima, and brother Arnold.

A memorial service will be held at Salem Lutheran Church in Wampum, MB on Saturday, Aug 31 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Erling Hueglan officiating.

Palmer was passionate about supporting the Siloam Mission in Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, we ask any donations be made out to this cause in his name.

HENRY BESTVATER

Peacefully, on August 27th, 2013 at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach with his family at his side, Henry passed away at the age of 87.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Mary (Goosen) and her family, and Henry’s children Irene Siemens, Ron Bestvater (Lina), Linda Lagasse (Renald), and Larry Bestvater; Henry’s grandchildren Rachel Siemens, Jacquelyn Leicht (Steve) and Ryan Siemens (Sandra), and Lianna Bestvater, Michael Bestvater and Sean Lagasse and great grandchildren, Cody Leicht, Kyle Leicht, and Isaiah Siemens. He is also survived by his brothers Jake (Mary), John (Shirley), sister-in-law Brigitte Bestvater, the Epp family and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his first wife Helen (Epp) in 1998, his infant sister Tina in 1930, his brother Abe in 2006, and his sister Helen Peters in 2013.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at the First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba (viewing prior to service). After the reception, interment in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heritage Life Personal Care Home in Niverville or to the Mennonite Disaster Services, available at the service.

HELEN DICK (nee Friesen)

Helen passed into the presence of her Lord at Menno Home surrounded by family and friends on August 27, 2013 at the age of 104 years. She was predeceased by her husband, John R. Dick in 1985. She is survived by nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 6 at Grace Church, 2087 McMillan Rd, Abbotsford. CRAIG SCHULTZ
September 13, 1963 – August 27, 2013

Craig Schultz passed away suddenly at his residence in Detroit Lakes, MN USA, due to cardiac arrest.

Craig will be forever missed by his three sisters Dianne Woroniuk and her husband Don, Karen Mantie and her husband Ed, Debra Rempel and her husband Barry and their families; as well as his many treasured friends. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Craig was predeceased by his father Reinhold Schultz, June 2, 1979 and his mother Frieda Schultz (nee Radke) October 23, 1994.

Cremation has taken place, a memorial service celebrating Craig’s life will be held Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 495 Henry Street, Steinbach MB, with Burial at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, PTH 12 South at 4:30 p.m.

IRENE HELENE ISAAK

Irene Helene Isaak, aged 83, of Niverville passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Menno Home for the Aged in Grunthal. Beloved wife of Jacob Isaak, cherished mother of Ken (Elaine) Isaak, Velma (Ian) Doerksen, Dorothy (Paul) Born, G. Paul (Sylvia) Isaak, and Phil (Kim) Isaak. Also survived by 13 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren; sister Hedy (Elmer) Andres, sister-in-law Frieda Martens, many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, an infant son Peter, her brother Theodore Martens, and her sister Wanda Toews.

Following a private family interment at Hespeler Cemetery, a celebration of Irene’s life was held Sunday, September 1, 2013 at Fourth Avenue Bible Church, Niverville. Should friends so desire, donations in her memory may be made to Niverville Fourth Avenue Bible Church.
