Gwendolyn Ruth McAllister

Suddenly on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at the Portage and District General Hospital, Ruth McAllister, beloved wife of Murray McAllister, passed into the presence of her precious Holy Father at the age of seventy seven years.
Ruth was predeceased by her first husband Gerald Fulton in 2008 and her infant son Royce in 1975.
Ruth is survived by her loving husband of three years, Murray, her children Kim (Don) Flanagan, Vance Fulton, Debbie Gardiner, Zane (Tammy) Fulton, eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Also stepchildren Julie (Garnet) Cairns, Stephen McAllister, Lloyd (Lorraine) McAllister, Barry McAllister, and one brother and two sisters as well as a large extended family.
Ruth was born on March 25, 1936 in Rothwell, Queens Co. NB. and raised in Gaspereau Forks.
She stuck close to home all her life until she was reunited with her teenage sweet heart, Murray.
They travelled between Manitoba and New Brunswick for the past three years.
Ruth was very dedicated to her saviour and believed wholeheartedly in His love for all of us.
She made a lot of friends in her short time in Portage la Prairie, especially her Bible Baptist Church family.
Ruth was a nurturer and care giver.
She was always more concerned about others than herself.
Her stepchildren are truly thankful for the great care she took of their Dad since their marriage.
We all want to thank the wonderful doctors and nurses at St. Boniface General and Portage General Hospitals for their exceptional care this past month.
Funeral service conducted Pastor Larry Bird was held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Bible Baptist Church.
Interment will be in Chipman, New Bruswick.
If friends so desire, memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba 103 Wilkinson Crescent, Portage la Prairie, Mb. R1N 1A7 would be appreciated.

Larry Patrick McLaughlin

Suddenly on Friday, April 5, 2013 at the Portage & District General Hospital Larry McLaughlin, beloved husband of Lucie McLaughlin passed away at the age of 71 years.
Larry was born in Cornwall, Ontario where he grew up and received his education.
In 1985 he married Lucie Lamoureux in Winnipeg and later moved to Portage la Prairie.
He was employed at Prairie Abattoir in 1991 retiring in 2007.
Larry was an active member of the Portage Evangelical Church.
He enjoyed hunting and was an avid fisherman.
Left to mourn his sudden passing besides his wife Lucie are his son Shaun McLaughlin and his brother Brian McLaughlin as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service conducted by Pastor Glen Loewen will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Portage Evangelical Church, 72 Third Street N. E., Portage la Prairie with reception to follow.
Interment will be in the Oakville Cemetery.
If friends so desire, memorial donation to the Sunset Palliative Care P. O. Box 92, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 3A7 or to the Building Fund at Portage Evangelical Church.

Meredith Dodgson

It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of Meredith Dodgson on Friday, January 30, 2015 after her battle with cancer.
She was predeceased by her mother Alice in 2012 and uncle Butch in 2005.
Left to mourn her passing are her life partner Roland Etzler, daughter Cassidy, son Conner, former husband Corey Jowett, father Bill Dodson, as well as sisters Suzanne (Rob) Martinez, children Julian, Emeliano, Nicholas and Kimberly (Jesse) Thunderchild, daughter Winter; grandmother Margaret Koppen, Aunt Pat, Uncle Dale, Aunt Linda, cousins Marshall Lee, children Jordi, Caden, Bryce, Tricia (Darren) MacDonald, children Brady, Joshua and Quinn.
From family and friends:
Thank you for the years you gave us,
And the times we shared.
We only hope and pray when you left us
You knew how much we cared.

You will be missed by all who knew and loved you, but never forgotten.

Hermina (Mienie) Zwiep

Peacefully on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at her residence, Mienie Zwiep, widow of the late Bert Zwiep, passed away with her family at her side, at the age of 78 years.
Funeral service conducted by the Reverend John Zondag will be held on Monday, February 2, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church, 17 Royal Road South Portage la Prairie, MB.
If friends so desire, memorial donations to the Portage & District Hospital Foundation, 524 Fifth Street S. E., Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 3A8 would be appreciated.

Robert James Potter

Robert James Potter passed away peacefully on the morning of January 21, 2015 at the Douglas Campbell Lodge after a lengthy battle with several medical issues at the age of 66.
Rob was born in Toronto Ontario, and was originally from the Mississauga and Georgian Bay areas.
He resided in High Bluff, MB for 25 plus years.
Rob was predeceased by his father James, brothers in-law Ted, Dave and Wayne and sister in-law Lorraine.
Also many friends from the High Bluff area: Gordie Halwas (Husband of Heather), Ed Halwas (Husband of Helen), Garth and Leona McConnell, Art and Darlene Reeves, Mr. and Mrs. Hicks, & Art Hiebert.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Shirley of 45 years.
Sons Dean (Angie) of Sexsmith, AB, and Ryan (Jackie) of Portage La Prairie.
Grandchildren Dylan, Kerystan, Allysa, Ethan, Kaiya, Rylee.
Mother Corinne, sister Carol Kenzaki (Manchan), brother Rick (Rita), also several nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in-law all of Ontario.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Douglas Campbell Lodge, Lions Prairie Manor and the Portage District General Hospital for their kindness and compassion throughout his time with them.
There will be a Memorial held at the High Bluff Community Hall on Saturday January 31 from 2PM until 4Pm, where friends and family are invited to come and share their memories of Rob.
If friends so desire, memorial donations can be made to The Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada (www.braintumour.ca), or Portage Animal Welfare Society (portageanimalwelfaresociety.com)
They will also be accepted at the memorial and donated in his memory.

Eveline Winnifred Wynne

On a beautiful Saturday afternoon (January 17, 2015) in accordance with the Master’s plan, a lovely, lively little lady, peacefully and quietly slipped away to her eternal home at the age of 84 years.
She did not go alone, many prayers and a bounty of beautiful memories accompanied her on her journey.
Mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt sister and friend.
Born in Portage la Prairie on August 25, 1930 to parents Arthur Spencer Percival ( deceased 1971) and Wilma M. DeVrieze (nee Ross /Percival (deceased 1995).
Eveline was also predeceased by her loving husband Edwin (Ted) Wynne December 2006.
They were married July 21, 1956
She is survived by her daughter Susan (Terry) Rogers, 2 step-children; Sandra (Warren) Loewen and Randy (Bev) Wynne and their respective families.
She is also survived by her constant companion twin sister Arline Dagg of Brandon, MB., and 2 devoted nieces.
Eve was friendly, funny and fiesty according to the circumstances.
Her theme in life was “do unto others” a kindness given is a kindness received.
She knew what she wanted, knew what she liked, and true to her character was steadfastly independent until her passing.
Eve lived a well-rounded life with many friends and a geuine interest in anything new.
She had a keen perspective on life – what we expect from it, what we get from it, what we put into it and above all an adept ability to accept gracefully what is reality.
“Dear God, please take good care of her – love and appreciate and enjoy her as we did.
She made us laugh and smile and we are covinced she will put a smile on your face too.
She is a spirited soul and truly one of a kind. Amen”
“When I grow too old to dream, your love will live in my heart” twin sister Arline.
Hand in hand to the promised land.
To love, laugh and play together forever.
There will be no formal service. At Eve’s request, cremation has taken place. Inurnment at Hillside Memorial Park will take place at a later date.
Donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Evelyn Pearl Edworthy

Peacefully on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Portage & District General Hospital, with her friend by her side, Evelyn Edworthy passed away at the age of 75 years.
Evelyn was predeceased by her father and mother, James and Susan Sommerville.
Left to cherish her memory are her children; Brenda Wenig (Allen) with grandchildren, Monica, Kelvin and Kendra, Janice Kirton (Dale) with grandchildren Nigel, Joshua and Matthew, Richard Beaulieu (Patsey), James Beaulieu and son Donald Steves (Linda) and grandson Rylan.
Also brothers Harold Sommerville with special niece Debbie (Harley) Johnson, Michael Lariveire of Moose Jaw, SK., brother Bill (Kathie) Inkster of Brandon, MB., brother Nick (Faye) Inkster of Nesbit, MB., and sisters Judi Sommerville-Jones of Winnipeg and Lynda (Bill) Priestly of Yorkton, SK.
Also close friends, Ken and Edith Penman.
Evelyn’s life consisted of helping others.
She volunteered at the Seniors Meal Program for Service for
Seniors, and the Salvation Army as well as helping people clean their homes.
If anyone needed anything she was there to help.
She loved to go to Island Park with her little car and a bottle of water to watch the animals.
She will be missed.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, January 19, 2015 at Crescent Heights Chapel, 1745 Saskatchewan Avenue West, Portage la Prairie, MB followed by interment in Hillside Cemetery.
If friends so desire, memorial donations to Central Plains Cancer Care Services, 318 Saskatchewan Avenue East, Portage la Prairie, MB. or to Sunset Palliative Care Inc., P. O. Box 92, Portage la Prairie, MB. R1N 3A7 would be appreciated.
