Maurice Hector Joseph Routhier
It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our husband, father and grandfather on Wednesday, September 17th, 2003 at the Taché Centre.
He was predeceased by his 1st wife Irène Routhier (nee Rondeau) in 1981 and one grandson Jérome Bernard in 1993.
Maurice was also predeceased by his parents Xavier and Alma Routhier; brothers, Léo, Laurent, Gérard, Hector and his sisters, Blanche, Florence and Marie.
He will be remembered with great love by Thérèse, his wife of 18 years; daughters, Florence Dufault (Alfred), Doris Poiron (Claude), Evelyne Gauvin (Gérald), Jeanne Poiron (Jean), Blanche Deleurme (Guy), Bertha Nadeau (Claude) and his grandchildren, Claudette and friend (Mike), Rhéal, Denis, Roland, Ginette, Michel, Jérémie, Brigitte, Natalie, Lynne, Mathieu, David, Lianne, Stéphanie, Danielle, Pierre and Nicole.
He will also be greatly missed by his brothers Irènée and Aimé; sisters Laurette, Rita, Simone, Antoinette, Lucille, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Maurice was born on December 22, 1924 and grew up on the family farm in Saint-Léon Manitoba.
He was the fourth child in a family of fifteen.
Maurice worked at numerous jobs for many years away from home before returning to his father's farm.
On November 21st, 1959, Maurice married Irène Rondeau and settled on his father's farm where all of their six daughters were born and raised.
Together they worked the land laboriously praying it would hear their plea and reward them plentifully for their toils.
After many years on the farm, Maurice and wife Irène sold the farm and moved to Somerset in 1977.
On August 16th, 1981, Maurice lost his loved one Irène.
In 1984, Maurice met Thérèse Fredette of Winnipeg and was married on June 29th 1985.
Together they resided in Somerset until 1998 and then moved to Winnipeg.
Dad will always be remembered for his love of the outdoors and the many happy hours spent gardening.
He especially treasured his time spent with his children and grandchildren and telling us his countless stories of his past.
Even though Dad was suffering through his illness, he always had a smile to share with everyone.
Many thanks to all those who accompanied Maurice on his journey home.
Our gratitude goes to the personnel at Taché Centre. All of you have been angels at his side.
Prayers will be held on Friday, September 19th at 8 p.m. at Adam Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 20th at Our Lady of Nativité Roman Catholic Church, Somerset Manitoba at 2 p.m. with Father Joseph Célestin Malengu and Father Gérald Labossière officiating.

Frances Victoria Sargeant
Peacefully at the Concordia Hospital on Monday September 8, 2003 after a lengthy illness, Frances Sargeant passed away at the age of 72 years.
Her passing is mourned by her loving husband Murray, 2 sons Brad and Brent, one sister Doreen (Wendal), 3 brothers Les (Marian), Andy (Pearl) and Lyle (Gail), 16 nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Frances was predeceased by her parents Stanley and Alice, her nephew Raymond, mother-in-law Bessie and by one brother-in-law Allan.
Mom was born and raised in and near Rathwell, Manitoba.
She carried fond memories throughout her life of her childhood on the farm and later in the town.
As a young woman, Frances worked as a telephone operator for MTS.
She and Murray met while they were both working in Treherne. They married on July 12, 1958 and enjoyed 45 years of loving marriage.
They lived in Arborg, Ashern and Winkler before moving to Winnipeg, in 1966.
Mom worked in the Central Processing Department at Winnipeg's Health Sciences Centre from 1966 until her retirement in 1996.
Mom and Dad made many friends through the years including neighbors in Winnipeg and at Beresford Lake where they enjoyed natures security.
Mom's greatest pleasure in life was caring for her family.
She was a skilled baker and loved to share her treats with any that came through the door.
She was active as a Cub Leader for many years.
She took great pride in her son's successes.
Children were Mom's greatest pleasure.
She loved visits from her nieces and nephews as small children, and as they matured, she watched their successes with satisfaction.
Mom enjoyed her flower garden very much.
She took great pleasure in watching it develop through the summer.
We will miss her phone calls and the sound of delight in her voice as she announced each new bud and bloom.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Concordia Hospital Oncology Outpatient Department, the staff on N3E at Concordia Hospital, and especially Dr. Pat Harris for the months of care and loving which they gave mom.
They all helped both mom and her family with their kindness, thoughtfullness and care.
With respect for Mom's wishes cremation has taken place.
Funeral Services will be held in the Rathwell Memorial Hall on Friday September 12, 2003 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Bruce Faurschou officiating.
Interment to follow in the Woodlands Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to CancerCare Manitoba, the Concordia Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice.
We will miss you, Mom.

Remi Demare
Peacefully at the Lorne Memorial Hospital on Saturday August 30, 2003, Mr. Remi Demare of Swan Lake, Manitoba, passed away at the age of 68 years.
He leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife Maria (nee Sanders), 3 children: Michael (Ethel) of Somerset, Angela (Donald DeKoninck) of Boissevain, and Gerry (Carolyn) of Somerset, 13 grandchildren: Jennifer, Steven, Alicia, Sarah, Eric, Theresa, Robert, Danielle, Kristin, Geoffrey, Meghan, Vanessa and Alexis.
He also leaves to cherish his memory one brother Paul and wife Doreen of Winnipeg, and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Prayers will be held at Adam's Funeral Home on Tuesday September 2, 2003 at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the St. Martin of Tours Roman Catholic Church in Swan Lake, Manitoba, on Wednesday September 3, 2003, at 2 p.m. with Father Firmin Michiels officiating.
Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery.

Louis Bruneau
Peacefully at the St. Claude Pavilion on Saturday August 30, 2003, Mr. Louis Bruneau of St. Claude, Manitoba passed away at the age of 87 years.
He leaves to mourn his passing 2 children: Guy Bruneau of St. Claude and Lorraine and husband Roland Rey of St. Claude, and 2 grandchildren: Justin and Dean (Jennifer).
He also leaves to cherish her memory 2 sisters: Hélène Goulet and Irène Dacqay, and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Valentine (nee Le Calve) in 1995, 3 brothers: Felix, Raöul and Albert and by one sister Blanche Chappellaz.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the St. Claude Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday September 3, 2003 at 2 p.m. with Father Jean-Jacques Serçeau officiating. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery.

Ethel Beaudin (nee Bernardin)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ethel Beaudin of St. Eustache, MB, on August 16, 2003.
Mom was born April 18, 1923 in Waterhen, MB.
She leaves behind her children: Roger (Adrienne), Denis (Terri) and Patricia (George MacKay), also grandchildren: Leanne (Steve Wilson), Rachelle, Richard (Lynnette), Scott (Kim), Kevin (Stacey) and great-grandchildren: Danielle, Adam and Cole.
She also leaves to mourn her passing her brothers: Wilfred and Adelard, and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Moïse in 1987, her parents Honore and Henriette Bernardin, and by 2 brothers Leo and Napoleon.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the St. Eustache Roman Catholic Church on Thursday August 21, 2003 at 11 a.m. preceded by Recitation of the Rosary at 10:30 a.m. with Father Michael Wollbaum presiding.
Cremation to follow with interment in the Parish Cemetery at 7 p.m.

Gerard Auguste Valentin
Peacefully with his family, and special friend at his side, on Monday August 25, 2003, Gerry Valentin passed away at Beacon Hill Lodge in Winnipeg at the age of 74 years.
Gerry was born in Diego Suarez, Madagascar on May 22, 1929.
The family moved to St. Georges-de-Didonne France, where Gerry lived and went to school until joining the French Air Force.
After training in France, USA and at the Royal Canadian Air Force base in Winnipeg, Gerry flew missions over North Africa as part of France's NATO commitment after WWII.
After a short engagement Gerry married Louise Decloux, his wife of 41 years in 1952.
Gerry and Louise raised four children at their home in St. Boniface, while Gerry worked at Bristol Aerospace, Inco and The Saint Boniface Hospital.
After Louise passed away in 1993, Gerry continued to live in the family home until falling ill in April 2001.
In those years Gerry loved the outdoors and his oddest pursuit, building airplanes.
He also greatly enjoyed the company of his new found best friend Verly with whom he traveled, and danced Tango.
Besides his special friend Verly, Gerry leaves to mourn 4 children: Nadine (Don), Gilbert (Sherry), Alain (Dianne) and Marcel (Pam), 5 grandchildren: Dave, Marie, Dan, Graeme and Austin.
He is also survived by 2 brothers: René and André and 2 sisters: Jacqueline and Sylvette and numerous other relatives in France.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Louise (nee Decloux) in 1993, his parents Albert and Rosette, and by one sister Jeannine.
With respect for Gerry's wishes, cremation has taken place.
Funeral Services will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home on Lagmodiere Blvd on Thursday August 28, 2003 at 11 a.m.
The Family would like to thank the staff of the Saint Boniface Hospital's fifth and sixth floors, and all the staff at Beacon Hill Lodge in Winnipeg, where Gerry spent the last months of his life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Salvation Army.
