Mr. Claude Vien
September 27, 2007
Claude Antoine Joseph Vien - It is with broken hearts and great sorrow that we announce the sudden and tragic passing of our dear son, brother, uncle, nephews, cousin and friend, Claude Antoine Vien, on September 27, 2007 at the age of 42.
Claude leaves to mourn his parents Emilien and Lucille Vien, brothers Gerald (Brenda), Rene (Laurie), Roger (Evelyne), Richard (Renee) and sisters Jacqueline (Brian), Louise (Eugene), Evelyn (Jacques), aunts, uncles, numerous nieces nephews, cousins, friends and of course his beloved cat, Reggie.
Claude resided in Lorette, Manitoba and was employed with the Real Canadian Superstore’s meat department for the last 25 years and made many life long friends. Claude enjoyed summer weekends at the cabin in St. Malo with family and friends and with many nights around the fire, singing our old country tunes. Claude was young at heart, caring and an easy going person and saw the good in everyone he met; he lived each day to its fullest.
Claude is predeceased by his grandmother, Antoinette Young in September 2002 and his best friend and cherished dog, Nikita.
Prayers will be said at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 1, 2007 at St. Timothy’s Parish, 135 John Forsythe. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 2, 2007 also at the Parish. Interment will follow in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Claude’s memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
We would like to express our deepest thanks to the Tache Fire Department, who were with Claude in his final moments and the St. Boniface Hospital’s Doctors and Nurses.

Margaret Esther McInnes
1928-2007
Our wife and mom passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.
She will be greatly missed by her husband (Jack) of 56 years and her four daughters, Jacquie, Cindy, Suzanne, Mona (Leon) and her favourite son, Sandy (Brenda); seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Margaret had a full life; one she thoroughly enjoyed. Her younger days were spent golfing, curling and playing bridge. In between she managed to raise five children. And she was always proud of her bountiful (and delicious) garden. Departing from Warren was difficult with giving up curling and leaving so many close friends. Her greatest joy was when the whole family got together. We had so much fun in each other’s company, whether playing games, cooking meals, singing songs or simply being together. We are going to miss our wife and mother so much. But we know she’s at peace now and no longer in pain. The angels will be taking care of her now. We want to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Boniface Hospital, and especially thank the Palliative Care team for all the help and care they provided for our wife and mother, allowing us to fulfill her wish to remain at home until the end.
Rest in peace Mom. We love you and miss you.
There will be a private family service. If people so desire, donations can be made to: WRHA Palliative Care Program, St. Boniface General Hospital, A5024 409 Tache Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6.
Family and friends are to sign the Book of Condolences at www.glenlawn.ca

Dr. James Harold Neilson Eastwood
October 7, 1923 - October 1, 2007
Suddenly on Monday, October 1, 2007, our wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, James Harold Neilson, passed away, with his loving family at his side. Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Barbara. Father to daughters Diane Rice (Kevin) and Karen Hurst (Gordon); and son Mark (Susan). Grandfather to Andrew, Genevieve, Stephen, Jenna, Matthew, Mitchell, Holly, Kelsey and Katie and great-grandfather to Adrian.
Jim was born on October 7, 1923 in Winnipeg. He attended Norwood School; United College; University of Manitoba where he received his BA and BSc. He then went on to the University of Toronto and University of Waterloo, where he received his degree in Optometry. He started his practice in 1952 and was still active. His main practice was Steinbach, where he was well known and very well respected.
Jim's early years were spent in a variety of endeavors. He was a lumberjack on Vancouver Island and was involved heavily in the YMCA which led to being a counselor at Camp Stephens. One of his favorite pastimes was working at Minaki Lodge, primarily as a boatman during the summers.
Minaki was one of Jim's true loves. He would chop his way through the ice to arrive as soon as he could in the spring, and wouldn't leave until the snow flew. Boats were his passion, but especially his ChrisCraft "The Breezy". Another favorite place was Palm Springs, where he wintered for over 20 years. Jim travelled extensively to all parts of the world with his wife Barb.
Jim was involved in numerous sport activities, which kept him young and fit. Jim was the diving champion at U of M, and participated in gymnastics, skiing, windsurfing and tennis; which he played until this summer. He enjoyed his tennis matches with all his buddies at the Winter Club.
His family was very important to him and we relied on him for his guidance, support and his never ending love. We will truly miss him. Jim was an inspiration to all who met and knew him. He was patient, humble, loving, gentle, giving and caring. But also a great jokester. Jim was a true gentleman. He was well known for his Ojibway prayer and was always asked to sing it at family occasions.
Sweet Dreams Dad, we love you.
To know Jim was a gift.
A memorial service will take place on Friday, October 5 at 1:30 p.m. at Fort Garry United Church, 800 Point Road with a reception to follow.
Flowers gratefully declined and donations to the Winnipeg Humane Society would be appreciated.

Dad, the oldest of 11 children, was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Arthur and Cecile (nee Richard) Lamothe, and raised in St. Francois Xavier, Manitoba. Dad served in the Canadian Army from 1943-44, and re-enlisted in Prince Rupert, BC, in 1944, where he served in Canada and United Kingdom as a mechanic during WWII. He was discharged in April of 1946 to return to civil life. He received a Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, War Medal 1939-1945. Being a mechanic by trade led him to his career as a mechanic for the Provincial Garage in Winnipeg. After joining the St. Vital Legion Branch #16, he met Margaret. They raised their son and daughter in St. Vital, curled with the St. Vital Curling Club, and spent every summer camping at Toniata campground on Falcon Lake, also pulling their trailer across Canada and the northern United States on family vacations.
