Beatrice Vonnie Miazga (nee Stasiuk)

It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Beatrice Vonnie Miazga on April 21, 2017 at the age of 69.
A loving wife, mother and Baba.
She leaves to mourn, her husband of over 50 years Ray Miazga, son Ray Jr (Martina), daughters Denise (Dennis) Wallach, Kim Miazga, Cindy Monkman (Cory), brother Ken Stasiuk. Mom was a baba to 9 grandchildren and 3 great granddaughters.
Mom also leaves to mourn numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Mom was born in Vita, Manitoba on October 26, 1947 and raised in Winnipeg and Parkdale, Manitoba. Mom was predeceased by her parents Helen and John Stasiuk, sister Doreen Chaszewski and brother in-law Mike Chaszewski, brother Dan Stasiuk, and sister-in-law Sharon Stasiuk.
Mom was loved dearly and will be forever missed.
As per mom’s wishes a celebration of her life was held on Monday April 24, 2017 at Wheeler Funeral Home.
The family would like to express our sincerest gratitude to mom’s niece Angie Mirosnikov and the doctors and staff of Concordia Hospital ICU and palliative care for their care and compassion that was provided to mom.

Marilyn Margaret Cote

Marilyn Cote was born in Swan River, Manitoba on June 17th, 1959. She passed away at her home on March 29th, 2014. Marilyn lived in Swan River most of her young life, she then started her life with Dan which lasted 38 years until the time of her passing. They raised three daughters Missy, Lacey, Chelsea and their son Daniel. The family then moved to Winnipeg, were she resided with her family until moving to Bowsman Manitoba in 1999. She then moved her family to Swan River were they resided until the time of her passing.
Marilyn had five grandchildren Jalana, Tristen, Damen, Tia and Liam. That she loved dearly and spent a lot of time doing things with them, they were always by her side. Marilyn was also part of the Solid Rock Church that she had been attending, her children expressed how she attended church and also any groups or activities that the church had put on. Pastor Ray had also said that she was a wonderful person and he got to know her as a great friend she will be missed by him and all that knew her in the church. Marilyn past times were reading, garage sales and she loved her basement sales. She also would go to bingo whenever she could. Marilyn loved to sing and listen to music, she would always be singing as she cleaned she had a beautiful voice but was very modest about it son only a chosen few got to hear her sing.
Marilyn leaves to mourn her passing, her loving partner of 38 years Dan; her children Missy, Lacey, Daniel and Chelsea; her grandchildren Jalana, Tristan, Damon, Tia and Liam, whom she cherished with all her heart, her family meant the world to her; she also leaves the mourn her, her mother Sarah; step-brothers Wilfred (Diane); her favourite nieces and nephews; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friend and all who knew her. Marilyn will be missed by everyone.
Evening Service was held on Wednesday, April 2nd, 2014 at 7:00 PM from the Chapel of Paull Funeral Home, Swan River, Manitoba.
Funeral service was held on Thursday, April 3rd, 2014 from the Swan River Friendship Centre, Swan River, Manitoba, with Pastor Fred Evans officiating.
Active pallbearers were Alex Ferland, Tyrone Guiboche, Paul Sr. Desmond, Quentin Paul, Jarred Paul and William Hoover.
Honourary pallbearers were Chris Kopichanski, Hank Cote, Wilfred Sutherland and George Fagnan.
Marilyn was laid to rest following the service in the Birchwood Cemetery, Swan River, Manitoba.
Paull Funeral Home and Crematorium was honored to have served the family.

Lydia Doberstein

Lydia surrounded by her family passed away April 27, 2017 at the age of 92. She enjoyed her early retirement years gardening at her cottage in Gimli. Lydia is survived by her brothers, Herbert and Arthur and her sister Emma (Cecil), and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her partner Paul, mother Olga, father Rudolf, brothers Walter, Kurt, and Leon, and her sisters Helena and Erika.
Funeral service will be held on May 6, 2017 with viewing at 10:00 am and service at 11:00 am at Wheeler Funeral Home, 1800 Day Street, in Winnipeg. Interment will take place afterwards at Okno Cemetery in Arborg, Manitoba.

Joyce Leber
September 3, 1942 – April 26, 2017

It is with profound sadness and heavy heart’s that the family and friends of Joyce Leber announce her passing April 26, 2017 at the age of 74 at Seven Oaks Hospital.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Clarence, daughter Michelle(Ron) son Ronnie: grandchildren Jillian(Jude), Danny and Ryan, great granddaughter Fenix who had a special place in her heart. Four sisters, one brother and all her nieces and nephews. Joyce was predeceased by her parent’s and first husband Bob.
Joyce was born in Winnipeg and grew up in Elmwood, where she met her lifelong friend Marge. They spent many days going out for lunches and enjoying a bottle of wine together and talking on the phone. Joyce enjoyed life to the fullest with her passions gardening, crafts, bingo and spent many hours in the kitchen. Mom’s kitchen was always open to friends and family. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining. She worked as a hairdresser, real estate agent and lastly at HSC.
After the passing of Bob, she met the love of her life, Clarence, who made her very happy and cared for her diligently during her illness with C.O.P.D. Joyce and Clarence were inseparable sharing many common loves including cooking, bingo, and going to the casino.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life in Joyce’s honour on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Men’s Club, 1476 Main Street at 6:00 PM.
The family wishes to thank staff and friends at St. Anthony Parish Bingo Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Siloam Mission.

Richard Merriott

It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of our Dear Husband, Step-Father, Grandfather and friend. He passed away peacefully with family and long time friend Ron by his side.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Ann, Step-children Kevin and Sherri, Grandchildren Brennan and Katie, many family and friends, including his best furry friend Mistie.
A celebration of his life will be held this Sunday, May 7th from 1 to 5 p.m. at their home for Family and close friends.
In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in his memory to D'Arcy's A.R.C Animal rescue.

Geraldine (Gerry) Collingwood Higgins (Farrar)
September 6, 1930 – April 26, 2017

It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful, loving mother, Gerry from Dementia related complications on April 26, 2017 at Concordia Hospital with her family by her side.
Mom was born on September 6, 1930 in Winnipeg, MB. She was the youngest child of John and Jennie Farrar (Kinghorn). Even though she grew up in the Dirty 30’s, mom had many fond memories of that time and said on many occasions that if she could she would go back to that time.
She met her soulmate, our father, Robert (Bert) Higgins in 1945 when he returned home from WWII. They married on October 22, 1949 and stayed married until dad’s passing on January 7, 1992. They lived in Winnipeg growing their family with two children until dad was transferred to Borden, ON with the military. They lived in Ontario adding two more children to the family until dad left the military and they relocated to Transcona in February 1960. Mom worked as a Nurses Aid/Unit Assistant at Health Sciences Center for 33 years until her retirement in 1995.
Mom was predeceased by her loving husband, Bert in 1992, her father, John Farrar in 1952, her mother, Jennie Onions (Farrar) (Kinghorn) in 1992, her stepfather, George Onions in 1976, her brother, Bob Farrar in 2001, her mother in law, Jeanie Higgins (McKay) in 1972, her father in law, Frederick Higgins in 1977 and her daughter in law, Mavis Higgins (Segodnia) (Rawluk) in 2016.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Ken Higgins, Pat Winberg (Gary), Tom Higgins (Kim) and Vicky Taylor (Nick). Her grandchildren, Brent Higgins (Lynn), Robyn Erickson (Chad), Tiffany Winberg (Mike Berard), Dylan Winberg (Kristin), Alana Duerksen (Kirk), Kevin Higgins (Wendy), Tammy Ross (Doug), James Taylor (Ashley), Kristina Sousa (Jorge), Mandy Taylor and Justin Segodnia. Her many great grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as G.G., her sister, Joan Faraci, daughters in law, Kerry Higgins and Colleen Fenzl and many nephews and nieces.
We would like to thank the staff of Misericordia Health Care Center for taking care of mom from January 2013 – August 2014. River East Personal Care Home for taking care of her and making her feel like family from August 2014 – April 2017. Also the doctors and nurses at Concordia Hospital Emergency and the 2nd Floor for everything they did to help make her journey as painfree as possible.
Abiding by mom’s wishes, a family viewing and cremation have taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. A special thank you to Wheeler Funeral Home for their professionalism, and their invaluable help throughout this most difficult time.

Joseph Lloyd Hayes

Joseph “Lloyd” Hayes of Swan River, Manitoba, passed away on April 11th, 2014 at the age of 88 years.
Lloyd was born in The Pas, Manitoba on February 26th, 1926 to John and Grace Hayes. He received his education at the West Favel School, Minitonas, Manitoba.
At the age of 17, Lloyd took a job at the Vancouver Ship Yards during World War II. He returned to Minitonas and worked for local farmers in the Valley. During this time he married Jean Danard on October 18th, 1948, in Swan River. He worked at the Minitonas Arena for various years and they had their first child, Jeff, who was born in Swan River in 1950. They moved to Flin Flon afterwards and Lloyd worked to the HBM&S; and their daughter Joanne was born in 1952. They returned to Minitonas and Elda was born in 1953. They then moved to Summerland B.C. where Jackie was born in 1957. While there Lloyd worked with highways, building the road between Summerland and Peachland. They returned to the Swan Valley for a bit where Lloyd worked at various jobs. Then they moved to Clearbrook B.C. and he worked for the municipality where they owned a raspberry farm. In 1966 they returned to Minitonas and Lloyd worked for Parks Canada. Over the next 20 years, Lloyd and Jean moved various times going between the Swan Valley and the Okanagan Valley, B.C.
Lloyd retired in 1988, however they still continued to move between the Swan Valley and the Okanagan Valley until 2001 when they returned to Swan River and stayed until the time of his passing.
Lloyd's hobbies included golfing, baseball, hockey and going to Jackie’s farm.
Lloyd is survived by his wife Jean; children Jeff (Enid), Joanne, Elda (Jack) and Jackie (Larry); two brothers and one sister; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents; three brother and three sisters.
In keeping with Lloyd’s wishes cremation has taken place with burial to follow at a later date.
Should friends so desire, memorial donations in Lloyd’s memory may be made to the Minitonas Knox United Church.
Paull Funeral Home and Crematorium was honoured to have served the family.
