Entered into rest at the Neepawa Hospital on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at the age of 92 years.
Funeral service was held Monday, May 11, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Christ Lutheran Church, Waldersee with Pastor Leon Gilbertson officiating. Interment followed in the Waldersee Cemetery.

John Houston Orr-Roulette
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Houston Orr-Roulette on Wednesday, April 29, 2009.
The funeral service was held on Monday, May 4, 2009 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Sandy Bay First Nation, MB with Father Roy George Vazhaplankudiyil officiating. Interment followed in the Sandy Bay Cemetery. Pallbearers were Paul Richard, Stacy Murray, Jeremy Whitford and Clinton Miller.

Otto Fred Hacker
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our brother, Otto Fred Hacker, at the Assiniboine Centre in Brandon on May 17th, 2009. Otto was born February 5th, 1932 in Waldersee, MB to Fred and Emma Hacker.
Otto was predeceased by his parents Emma (in 1986) and Fred (in 1988) and his brother-in-law Joe Studer (in 2005).
He is survived by his three sisters Ann Studer of Ontario, Connie (Dieter) Janzen of Texas, Ruth (Joe) Zuke of Gladstone and by his brother Larry (Diane) Hacker of Brandon. Otto is also survived by his nieces and nephews Lorie (Dave) Studer, Ted Studer, Brian Janzen, Carol (Rob) Grant, Ron (Karen) Zuke, Tracy (Laird) Lidster, Jerry Hacker, and Lisa Hacker. He will also be missed by his great nieces and nephews Samantha, Alexandria, and Maxwell Studer, Rebecca Grant, and Rylan Lidster.
Otto grew up on a mixed farm near Waldersee and attended a one-room school at Lucania. He farmed with his parents until July 1967, and then moved with them to Brandon. He then started working at J & G Supply. After his retirement in 1986, he enjoyed helping his brother for several years, as they traveled around the province for his business.
Over the years, Otto enjoyed playing hockey, hunting, playing cards, carpentry and going for coffee with his friends. He enjoyed the trips he took to visit his sisters, and the get-togethers at family gatherings.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 2B7. The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Seitz and the nurses at the Assiniboine Centre for their compassionate care for Otto during the past several months.
Funeral service was held on Friday, May 22nd, at 1:00 pm at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 114 Ashgrove Blvd, Brandon, MB with Pastor Ted Jannuska officiating. Pallbearers were Jerry Hacker, Ron Zuke, Laird Lidster, Rob Grant, Ken Mauthe and Jerry Buffi. Interment followed in the Waldersee Cemetery.

Margaret Lorraine Beatty
It is with deepest sadness that Margaret’s family announce her passing on Saturday, May 16, 2009. She left us quietly on her 81st birthday after a long brave struggle with Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. She was a loving wife and mother who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Margaret was born May 16, 1928 in the Pine Creek District and received her education at the Elwood School. She then worked for a time as a Nurse’s Aid in the Portage Hospital with her sister Jean. She later worked as a hairdresser in Portage. After her marriage to Robert, they farmed at Helston and Margaret continued her hairdressing and Barbering from home. Margaret loved picking berries, playing crib and gardening. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed being outside helping run the farm. She adored all her grandchildren and they adored her as did everyone who knew her.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents Alex and Agnes Livingstone; brothers Mervin, Jo (Marje) and Walter and sisters Olga (Leonard) Kennedy and Jean (Murray) Garychuk.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years Robert Edwin Beatty; daughter Evelyn (Tom) Wyatt of Penticton, BC and their children Caroline and David; Son Glen (Judy) Beatty of Medicine Hat, AB and their children Megan and Laurel; granddaughter Chelsie Ferguson of Winnipeg, MB; brothers Harold Livingstone of MacGregor MB and Ernie (Donna) Livingstone of Chilliwack, BC; sisters Edna (Harold) Rosling of Gladstone, MB and Grace (Bill) Lunn of Waham, AB. She is also survived by a large extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Special thanks to her loving sister Edna Rosling, dear friend Sian Pollard, neighbour Edna Smith, and Dr. Berman Wong who took such good care of our mom.
A memorial Service was held on Monday, May 25, 2009 at 2:00 pm at the Gladstone United Church with Sandra Rex officiating. Interment took place in the Gladstone Cemetery prior to the service. Amy Leigh Wilson
Amy Leigh Wilson became the light of our lives the moment she arrived. She was born on September 7th 1987, fittingly on Labour Day. She became the heart and soul of the family and we were so blessed to have her with us.
Perhaps the defining moment in Amy’s childhood was the diagnosis of leukemia in December 1990 at the age of three. Amy fought a courageous battle against the cancer that culminated in the successful bone marrow transplant in February 1995. Amy was declared cancer free in the years that followed, indicating what a strong fighter she was.
Although she was growing into a beautiful young woman, Amy remained a child at heart. She had an extensive collection of stuffed animals and so very much enjoyed the company of children. This led to her decision to embark on a career in children’s education. In December 2007, Amy graduated from Assininboine Community College with her Level II diploma in Early Childhood Education. From there she landed her dream job, working with children at the Crestview Park Day Nursery, where she had worked for the last 14 months.
Amy loved to spend time with her family. Whenever there was a gathering of relatives, whether large or small, Amy always wanted to be there to visit. Socializing and chatting with her relatives, both old and young, was a fun time for Amy. Her love for children could frequently be seen at family gatherings when she was playing with the youngsters in attendance. She was a member of the Gladstone 4-H Handiworkers for ten years and held all executive positions during that time. Her favourite project was woodworking and in her final level of woodworking, she built her own futon.
Amy enjoyed travelling and she had the opportunity to go to Disneyworld as a youngster, to Sylvan Lake, Alberta for a family reunion, and to Quebec, Alberta and BC on school trips. Her last adventure was a cruise to Alaska with her family as a graduation present.
Music was a big part of her life. She would sing to herself when she was doing the dishes or driving in her car. She also used her favourite songs as a backdrop to a video presentation of her life as a gift to her parents.
While not the most athletic person you would ever have known, Amy did enjoy watching Goldeyes baseball games and cheering on her favourite curlers, especially Kevin Martin’s rink. She was an animated couch curler and would jump up in excitement whenever the rink she was cheering made a great shot.
Amy’s friends were always very important to her. As Amy spent time in a number of cities and towns in Manitoba, (Gladstone, Brandon, Neepawa, Dauphin and Winnipeg) she developed friendships in each of the various locations. Many a weekend would be spent driving around in someone’s vehicle. Amy would generally be assigned the navigator role, which likely explains why these road trips ended up with the gang getting lost.
Amy would stay in touch with these friends and her mom and aunt using the technology of the day - Facebook and texting on her ever present cellphone.
Amy was a kind and generous person who was fond of giving surprise gifts. She would frequently overspend the budget she and her aunt had set up because she wanted to buy someone a special gift. A maxed out credit card became the norm but it was worth it to Amy to see the delight in the eyes of the other person when they opened her gift.Her caring nature was also evident as she volunteered at Third Crossing Manor from grade 7 to grade 12.
Amy’s final battle began on March 6th when she was admitted to hospital with pneumonia. During the period she was in recovery she thought about her kids at the day care and commented how much she missed them. Ultimately, however, the pneumonia returned and despite a valiant and difficult fight, she slipped away with her family by her side and her mother and aunt holding her hands.
Left to cherish her memory are her parents Roxy & Gordon Hayward of Gladstone and Brent Wilson of Neepawa; her grandparents Earl & Audrey Clayton of Gladstone and Adeline Newell of Neepawa; her aunts and uncles Debbie & Harold Dueck of Winnipeg, Barb Graham and Ron Brautigam of Hudson Hope, BC and Richard & Sylvia Hayward of Gladstone; her closest friends Shayna Nicholson and Justin Nichol; as well as many other great-aunts and uncles and lots of second cousins.
Amy was predeceased by her uncle Cam Clayton; her grandparents Kenneth Wilson, Arnold Newell, and Vic & Marg Hayward. She was also predeceased by many great-aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family thanks everyone for their thoughts and prayers during Amy’s battle as well as the thoughtful comments, cards and gestures, especially the hugs, through this difficult time. So many people have done such wonderful things for Amy throughout her lifetime that they can’t all be recounted here.
Our lives have been truly blessed by the 21 years we had with her. We are brokenhearted to have to carry on without her and we hope she has found a place where she is free from pain and suffering.

Verla May Lloy
It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Verla May Lloy at her residence in Neepawa, on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Verla was born on May 19, 1930 in the Clarkesville District, at the home of her aunt Beatrice Wagar, a nurse and midwife. She was the second youngest of seven children born to Bert & Iva (Wagar) Eros of the Polonia District.
Following the accidental death of her father in 1935, her mother and the four youngest children moved to Neepawa in July, 1936, where Verla began her education at Neepawa Central School and graduated from Neepawa Collegiate in 1947. She began work as a secretary for local lawyer Jack A. Davidson, a job she thoroughly enjoyed, remaining in that position until her marriage to Ervine Lloy of Gladstone in 1949.
The couple lived on his farm for the next 15 years during which time their three sons Brian, Murray & Kevin were born. In 1964 Ervine accepted the position of Community Pasture Manager for P.F.R.A. at Ethelbert, MB and in 1974 at McCreary Community Pasture where they remained until his retirement in 1994. After a short stay in Neepawa they returned to Gladstone in 1996.
Verla was predeceased by her parents; infant brother Gerald; son Murray; brothers Ray (Ruby) and Elvin (Millicent); sister Hazel (Axel) Frosst; sisters in law Marge Eros, Jean (Ed) Brown and Dora (Ken) Hallas; in laws Ed & Mary Belle Lloy, brother in law Ted Lloy.
Left to mourn are husband Ervine; sons Brian (Jean) and Kevin (Monica); sister Irene Macdonald; brother Willard; brothers in law Jim (Jean) Lloy, Don (Vicky) Lloy; sister in law Joyce Lloy; grandchildren Clinton Lloy, Michelle (Blair) Ferguson, Steven Mulholland and Justin Lloy; great grandchildren Danica, Sciera and Taylor Lloy, Ryan and Grace Ferguson as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
Verla was a faithful wife, a loving and caring mother. She enjoyed her grandchildren & great grandchildren even though they were apart in distance. She loved to bake for them and often said she wanted the family to remember her home as smelling of apples & cinnamon. Over the years, many many “care packages” of baking & goodies were gratefully received by the children. Verla was a cheery, “people” person who had a smile and friendly word for everyone, including strangers.
Verla was an avid sports fan, especially of hockey, but also enjoyed dancing, sewing, quilting, crafts and anything that was a puzzle and loved shorthand. At an early age she realized she had a talent for writing and after the children left home she wrote a newspaper column for eight years but lately had been freelancing. She also had a love for her hometown of Neepawa and was happy when able to walk along the familiar streets.
According to Verla’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family committal service was held on Thursday, June 4, 2009 at the Riverside Cemetery with Pastor Randy Fehr of Gladstone Christian Fellowship officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that friends, if they so wish, may make donations to the Central Plains Cancer Care Services, 318 Saskatchewan Ave. E., Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 0K8 or to the ALS Society, 265 Yorkland Blvd., Suite 300, Toronto, ON, M2J 1S5.

Alan Clifford Roulette
Alan Clifford Roulette passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 45 years.
The wake began on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 7:00 pm at the Sandy Bay First Nation Complex. The funeral was held on Monday, June 1, 2009 at 2:00 pm at the Sandy Bay First Nation Complex. Interment followed at the Sandy Bay Cemetery.
