Raphiel James Livien Toms

Entered into rest in the Neepawa Hospital on Sunday, December 7, 2008 at the age of 83 years with his wife by his side.
Raphiel was born July 15, 1925 at La Riviere, Manitoba. He served overseas during World War II with the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders in Belgium, Holland and Germany. He worked as a Hard Rock Miner in Red Lake, Ontario and in 1952 bought a farm in the Amaranth District. In June 1960 he married Anna Lowag at Lethbridge, Alberta.
Predeceased by his parents; two brothers Liviene and Bernet; one sister Lucy Produniuk; two brothers-in-law Bill Produniuk and Ferndo Fifi; and a sister-in-law Joyce Toms.
Surviving is his wife Anna; two sons Michael of Dufresne, Manitoba and Donald of Amaranth, Manitoba; three sisters Eliza Fifi of Haywood, Elise (Charlie) Inkster of Alberta and Berenedette (Ernest) Janz of Winnipeg; one sister-in-law Pat Toms as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held Thursday, December 11, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in the Our Lady Of Angels Roman Catholic Church, Amaranth, Manitoba with Father Roy George Vazhaplankudiyil officiating. Interment followed in the Haven Of Rest Cemetery, Amaranth, Manitoba. Pallbearers were Jerry Fifi, Tom Thompson, Walter Pischke, Clint Robertson, Robert Robertson and Ted Pauwells.
If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to Central Plains Cancer Care Service, 318 Saskatchewan Ave. E., Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, R1N 0K8.

James Robert Madill

James Robert Madill passed away on December 12, 2008 at Third Crossing Manor, Gladstone at the age of 93 years. Bob was born in Winnipeg on April 1, 1915.
Bob was predeceased by his wife Isabell; son Harold; brother Edwin; sisters Margaret and Evelyn.
Left to mourn are son Clarence (Isabella) Madill; daughter Gail (Jim) McGregor; daughter-in-law Joan Madill; grandchildren Leah (Dave) Taylor, Craig (Jamie) Madill, Sherri and Richard (Tanya) McGregor, Beverley (Blaire) McKenzie, Murray (Sharleen) Madill and Cindy Madill; great grandchildren Robin and April Taylor, Bradley and Wade Madill, Devon (Brittany), Robert (Nicole) and Billie-Jo McKenzie and Brodee Madill; great great grandchildren Jax and Dierdre McKenzie; as well as several nieces and nephews and cousins.
Bob spent the first six years of his life in Winnipeg, then moved to the farm west of Plumas. He got his education at Edington School. He then worked out on farms, ending at Harry Singletons where he worked for several years. On April 12, 1940 he married Isabell Mary Singleton and moved to the home farm in 1941 when his father retired. As well as farming Bob did a lot of odd jobs to supplement the farm income. He hauled gravel for building roads, cut wood for three schools and had a custom threshing outfit.
Bob served on the Ivanhoe School Board for several years and was active in the Farmers Union.
Like the rest of the family Bob enjoyed many sports, baseball, football, horseshoes, curling, dancing and bowling.
Bob and Isabell retired and moved to Plumas in 1976 where he resided till he moved to Third Crossing Manor in 2004.
Funeral service was held Friday, December 19, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Plumas United Church with Wendy Denbow officiating. Pallbearers were Murray Madill, David Taylor, Craig Madill, Richard McGregor, Robert Madill-McKenzie and Robin Taylor. Interment followed in the Plumas Cemetery.
If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 200 – 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 9Z9.

Emma Jane Sutherland

Passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2008 in MacGregor, Manitoba at the age of 47 years.
Emma enjoyed cleaning up, and liked to help everyone as much she could. She was a really small lady but also tough. She always did everything herself. Emma enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and singled out Sharon as her favorite, her pride and joy. Emma was always happy to come out and visit her family. Her hobbies included playing cards.
Emma was predeceased by her parents, Leonard and Lillian Beaulieu; her husband Mervin Sutherland; her daughter Sharon; and grandson Tristan.
She leaves to mourn her children: Barbara (Kevin), Adrienne (Dominic), Mervin Jr. (Nicole), and Bradley; Grandchildren Sharon, Trinity, Tanisha, Jamie, Zada, Dominique, Abigail; Sisters: Barbara (Steve), Mary, Julia (John), Doris; Brother: Clifford (Kimberly); aunts and uncles.
Funeral service was held Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Our Lady Of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Sandy Bay First Nation with Father Roy George Vazhaplankudiyil officiating. Interment followed in the Sandy Bay Cemetery. Pallbearers were T.J. Roulette, Marcel Monkman, Fabian Roulette, Raymond Levasseur, Aaron Beaulieu and Jason Monkman.

Anne Zacharias

With sadness, the family of Anne Zacharias announces her passing on December 22, 2008 at Portage General Hospital, Portage la Prairie, MB. She has entered her final rest in the presence of the Lord.
Born at Aberdeen, SK on August 27, 1923 to John and Elisabeth Buhler, she is survived by her son Lester (Betty) Harder of Garson, MB and children Ivan (Starr) and Steven & Jennifer ; daughter Eleanore (Paul) McLeod of Winnipeg, MB and children Robert and Elizabeth (Robert L’Arriveé); daughter Corrinne (Les) Neufeld of Kamloops, BC and children Eric, Kevin and Lisa; son Orville (Roxie) Harder and children Shayne, Perry and Scott. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Nina Hudson, Vivian, and Sean, children of Ivan and Starr.
Anne was raised on a farm at Aberdeen, moving with her parents and family to Edrans, MB in her teen years. Here she met and married David Harder on Nov. 29, 1942, settling on their own farm in the Pine Creek area. There they raised their four children. After retiring in 1975, they moved to acreage south of Austin where they lived until they moved into Evergreen Place in Austin, MB. After her husband passed away in 1996, she continued to live in Evergreen Place. In July of 2000, she married Jake Zacharias of Brandon, MB and they also made their home in Evergreen Place. Sadly, Jake passed away in October, 2008.
Anne’s life was one of dedication and service to others. She inspired many by her faith in God, her perseverance in hard times and her continual optimism for the future. Her love for music led her to sing in church choirs, in quartets with friends, as well as a trio with her daughters. She enjoyed attending concerts, or simply listening to friends play and sing. Her work was mostly as a mother and homemaker, although she was employed for three years at the Carnation plant in Carberry, MB. She also provided a valuable service as a home-care worker for some time, and in her retirement she enjoyed volunteering for the MCC.
Funeral service was held on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008 at 2:00 pm in the MacGregor E. M. Church. Interment followed in the Austin Cemetery. Officiating was Rev. Bill McCaskell. Pallbearers were Ivan Harder, Robert L’Arriveé, Mervin Fehr, Neil Rempel, Jerry Peters, and Tony Hiebert.

Todd Allan Jr. Levasseur

Passed away on December 24, 2008 at Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg.
Traditional Wake will begin on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in residence 273 Ridge Road North, Sandy Bay First Nation, Manitoba.
Funeral Service was held Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Sandy Bay First Nation, Manitoba with Father Roy George Vazhaplankudiyil officiating. Interment followed in the Sandy Bay Cemetery.

David Lawrence Cater

After many years of declining health, David peacefully passed away at Third Crossing Manor on December 31, 2008, at 61 years of age.
David leaves to mourn his passing his sisters; Phyllis (Peter) DeRoche of Winnipeg, Valarie (Gary) Shymanski of Sifton, and Dianne Heidman of Winnipeg. He also leaves two nieces, one nephew, one great niece, three great nephews as well as other relatives and many friends.
David was predeceased by his father Herb in 1987; his mother Lorna in 2005; and niece Joey in 1995.
We, the family wish to express our sincere thanks to the following people for all their kindness, caring and compassion at this most difficult time:
Dr. L. Antonissen and nursing staff of the medical ward at the Portage la Prairie Hospital; the doctors and nurses at the Gladstone Hospital; Bob Clarke at Clarke’s Funeral Home; Pastor Randy Fehr; and most importantly the staff at Third Crossing Manor.
In accordance with David’s wishes there will be no formal service. A private family service was held on Saturday, January 3, 2009 with Pastor Randy Fehr officiating.
If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Joseph McIntyre

Joseph McIntyre of Winnipeg passed away on January, 14, 2009 at Heritage Lodge Personal Care Home. He was born on July 14, 1929.
Predeceased by his parents Walter and Florence Hoover; sister and brother-in-law Beulah & Len Manns; and nephew Wayne Manns.
Remaining to fondly remember Uncle Joe are his niece Judy Manns; nephew Dennis (Joan) Manns and family Trevor, Richard, Jennell and David; niece Bev (Tom) ten Hove and family Kristi (Tim) Burton, Kelly (Ricki) and Kara.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in Clarke’s Funeral Chapel, MacGregor with Sandra Rex officiating. Interment followed at Sidney Cemetery. Pallbearers were Trevor Manns, David Manns, Steven Manns, Richard Manns, Tim Burton and Kelly ten Hove.
If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
