Viewing was held at Clarke’s Funeral Chapel, MacGregor on Monday, November 3, 2008 from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.. Memorial service was held Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Austin Evangelical Fellowship Church with Pastors Colin Bell and Kevin Mills officiating. Interment followed in the Austin Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Austin Community Hall Building Fund, Austin, MB, R0H 0C0. Clarke’s Funeral Home, MacGregor in care of arrangements. Estwood Davidson Passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 in the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 64 years. Cremation has taken place and a funeral service was held Monday, November 3, 2008 in the MacGregor EM Church at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Bill McCaskill officiating. Carol Lorraine Tower (nee Anderson) January 20, 1953 – October 28, 2008 Carol passed away at her residence, Grand Valley Place in Brandon, Manitoba on Tuesday, October 28, 2008. Carol was born and raised in Gladstone, Manitoba where she attended school. She enjoyed life with her family and had a variety of interests including crafts and gardening. She had a life-long love of books and was an avid fan of literature. Carol was actively involved in her community where her efforts and kindness will be greatly missed. Carol leaves to cherish her memory her son Richard Tower; grandchildren Karmelle, Sydney and Jesse Tower; brother Brian Anderson; sister Sherry Wilde and brother-in-law Wes Wilde; niece and nephew Tracy and Greg Wilde; and her mother Violet Anderson. She is predeceased by her father Gordon Anderson, and her husband David Aitchison. Memorial service was held in the Gladstone United Church on Monday, November 3, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ian Olive officiating. Interment followed at the Gladstone Cemetery. Charles Joseph Whitford – Chartrand “Ozhaawashko Binesi” Blue Thunderbird MAKWA NIIN DOODAM Charlie passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family in Winnipeg on Saturday, November 8, 2008. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Kathy; four children Darrin (Dina), Myrna (Wes), Jason, Charlie-Joe (Penny) and nine grandchildren: Kyle, Monica, Jennifer, Amber, Anthony, Malcolm, Charlie, Katelynne and Zayna. He is also survived by his siblings brothers; Wilson (Paulette), Dennis, Cecil (Ann), Felix (Isabel) and Joseph; sisters; Hazel (Larry), Sophie (Brad), Irene (Earl), Florence (Phillip), Sally, Sheila (Gordon); his uncle Douglas (Donna); Aunt Mary (Micheal); brothers-in-law George (Debralee), Russell (Sandra), Maurice (Josephine), Wayne (Dina), Charlie (Verna); sisters-in-law Lydia (Joe), Georgina (Don), Sandra (Stan), Karen, Loriann (Kurt); and his in-laws Joseph and Sarah Beaulieu as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son Wilson Anthony Whitford in May 1994; his mother Marie Whitford-Chartrand; father Andrew Desjarlais; his grandma who raised him Mary Louise Samatt (Chartrand-McIvor); uncles Bernard Chartrand and George Chartrand. As well as his special brother John Laquette. Charlie was born November 23, 1942 and began working at the age of 15 years for CN Railway and later as a farm worker and fisherman. In Winnipeg he worked for Pile Foundations and Subterranean Construction. He was also into carpentry and home renovations. During the last months of his life music became a passion as he sang and recorded about 200 songs, mostly country classics. We will remember his humor, his kindness and love for people around him. A wake was held on Monday, November 10, 2008 at the home of Joseph and Sarah Beaulieu at Sandy Bay First Nation, Manitoba. Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady Of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Sandy Bay First Nation with Father Roy George Vazhaplankudiyil officiating. Richard Anthony Beastall Passed away suddenly on Monday, November 24, 2008 at the Portage District General Hospital, Richard Beastall age 56 years of Gladstone. Richard was born March, 28, 1952 in Derby, England and came to Canada in 1988. He became very involved in the community as a business owner, volunteered with the fire and ambulance department, became a member of the Gladstone Chamber of Commerce, and “years of pounding the highway watching the white lines” as a truck driver. His pride and joy was his wife, children and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his father Ronald Beastall and his grandparents. Richard will be sadly missed by his wife Tracey Beastall; daughter Terrie Beastall (Lee); son Philip (Melanie); grandchildren Declan and Caitlin; mother Sheila Ingham; father-in-law and mother-in-law Ray & Jean Benson; sisters Sally (David) & family and Wendy (Tim) & family. Traditional Wake began on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in residence 371 Centre Road, Sandy Bay First Nation, Manitoba. Funeral Service was held Friday, December 5, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Sandy Bay First Nation, Manitoba with Father Roy George Vazhaplankudiyil officiating. Stuart Cruickshank Milne Stuart Milne passed away Sunday Evening, December 7, 2008 with his family by his side. Stuart had a fulfilling long life and enjoyed all it had to offer. Stuart was born August 16, 1917 in his parent’s home in the Mekiwin District. His parents were Tom and Lile Milne. He had one sister Kathleen and one brother Ken. Growing up on the farm, he attended Ayr School to grade eight. Many cousins, aunts and uncles were part of the community. He began working on the farm at a very young age and his appreciation and natural ability working with horses and any animals was a lifelong gift. Stuart served in World War II in the Lord Strathcona Horse Regiment from 1943 to 1945. He served in England Mediterranean Forces and North-West Europe, countries of North Africa, Italy, France, Germany, Belgium and Holland. He returned home to the farm at Mekiwin. Shortly after, he met the love of his life, Margaret Griffith. They were married on March 30, 1952. They had one daughter Karen. Margaret became ill with cancer when Karen was very young. Even though their time together was only to be 15 years, they crowded much joy and good times into these years. They were surrounded by good friends and a large family. During these years, they were involved in the Mekiwin and Keyes Communities. Dad was a Board Member of the Manitoba Pool Elevator at Helston, Chairman and Elder of the Mekiwin United Church, Chairman of the Ayr School Board and also Member of the Keyes Community Club. He was a Member of the Gladstone Legion #110 for 40 years, served a two-year term as President and was Service Officer for a number of years. He was also part of the Colour Party for many years. He was very proud to be a Legion Veteran and appreciated his many friends in his club. His grandchildren often teasingly referred to the Legion Clubroom as his Office. He received his Lifetime Membership in 1998. Stuart remained on the farm and raised Karen. In 1996 he moved to Whitelark Manor in Gladstone. Here he enjoyed 12 years of town living and his was a second home to his grandchildren while they were going to school. He loved to bake and often shared his buns and cookies with neighbours. Due to his failing health he was moved to Third Crossing Manor in January 2008. Here he adjusted to a new lifestyle again. He enjoyed and appreciated the staff and the excellent care they gave him. He also appreciated visits from friends and family. This meant a lot to him, especially these past few months. His biggest pleasure was his grandchildren. He was their greatest fan. He rarely missed any of their events and became “Grandpa” to many friends over the years. He was at all their 4-H competitions, horse shows, rodeos, band concerts, and the list could go on. He taught them many life lessons by example and was very patient, open-minded and could relate to all age groups. He loved jokes and had a great sense of humour, loved dancing, camping and just being with people. He was so happy to see Gladstone’s 125th, his 90th birthday and his first grandchild’s wedding. He was predeceased by his parents; Tom and Lile Milne; his beloved wife Margaret; sister Kay; brother Ken; parents-in-law Bill and Hazel Griffith; brothers and sisters-in-law Peter and Jean Hunter, Wib and Bernice Smith, Lionel Welbourne, Doug Kitson; and all his Milne cousins as well as nephew’s Danny Griffith and Randy Smith. He will be greatly missed by his daughter Karen and Keith Lambert; grandchildren Chas, Holly-Lee, Stuart & Marianne and Zane; brother and sisters-in-law Doug and Jean Griffith, Joyce Welbourne and Joan Kitson, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral service was held in the Gladstone Fellowship Church, with Pastor Randy Fehr officiating. Family came in lead by Dan Jardine playing the Scottish Bag Pipes. Eulogy was given by Chas and Stuart. A slide show of pictures over the years was shared. Special music "Whispering Hope" was beautifully done by Jeff and Aileen Mowat. Legion Service was led by James Lobban, Holly-Lee played the Last Post. Zane was the urn bearer. Service ended with the playing of the bag pipes. Burial will take place at a later date in the Mekiwin Cemetery. Lunch and fellowship followed in the church basement. Clarke's Funeral Home Gladstone, in care of arrangements.
