Katherine Schellenberg
Peacefully with family by her side, Katherine Schellenberg of Gladstone, Manitoba passed away on March 26, 2008 at Seven Regions Health Centre at the age of 91 years.
Mom was born at Wymark, Sask. on November 4, 1916, to Jacob and Katherina Schapansky the eldest of a family of 13. Upon the confession of her faith, mom was baptized in Chortiz, Sask., June of 1936. She worked hard at helping her mother raise her younger siblings and later worked as a housekeeper learning many life skills. In 1939 she married our dad and moved to a farm in the Bear Creek School District. This is where they raised a family of 4 girls and 2 boys.
Mom worked with dad on the farm, milking cows, doing chores, cooking, canning and preparing meals for the family. While on the farm, mom enjoyed a large garden of flowers and vegetables.
In 1977 they retired from farming and moved into Gladstone. Travel became a big part of their life with trips to Israel, B.C., Ontario, Texas, Mexico and numerous trips to family reunions in Western Canada.
Mom never really retired but enjoyed many new crafts such as ceramics, knitting and crocheting. Making wool blankets became a pastime for mom and dad and all family members have been recipients of these blankets. House plants were a passion of Mom’s starting and transplanting many varieties and trading and sharing these with many friends. Mom has always enjoyed company, welcoming family, friends and overnight guests. In her later years she always enjoyed guests stopping by to join her for a cup of tea.
In November of 2007 she struggled with eating disorders and in January of 2008 was diagnosed with cancer causing her much pain and discomfort. She was admitted to the Seven Regions Health Centre and the last two months were spent in Palliative Care where loving and compassionate staff looked after her.
She will be lovingly remember by daughters Gladys (Dan) Doell, Shirley (Frank) Ens, Alice (Abe) Elias and Clara Griffiths; sons Ernie (Marilyn) and Walter (Helen) and their families; sisters Helen, Margaret, Agnes and Suzanne; brothers Abe and George; brother and sister in-laws, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband Jacob; son-in-law Bob Griffiths; granddaughter Beverly Ens; parents Jacob & Katarina Schapansky; 3 brothers; 3 sisters; as well as brother and sister in-laws.
Burial took place, Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gladstone Cemetery. Memorial service was held at 2:30 p.m. in the Gladstone Christian Fellowship with Pastor Darrel Teichrib and Pastor Randy Fehr officiating. Presiding at the organ was Leona Rempel and presiding at the piano was Sharon McCutchin. Ushers were Brad Doell, Jeff Harder and Brad Martens.

Joseph Albert McIvor
Joseph Albert McIvor was born in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, on July 31, 1944. He passed away suddenly on March 15, 2008, at the age of 63 years.
He leaves to mourn his sons Daryl, and Jason (Sherry Lee), and daughters Deidre (Jimmy), Deanna (Eric) and step children Delphine, Daria, and Durran.
Predeceased by his parents Vital and Emma, wife Cecilia, daughter Darlene, son Dwayne, son Robert, and brother Archie.
Joseph attended residential school in Sandy Bay for approximately 10 years and he enjoyed his money from the Common Experience Fund (600+) before he passed on. In his teens, he worked as a farm hand and moved onto construction work in the city of Winnipeg for 10 years. He was sidelined in a car accident and when he recovered he started work at the Manitoba Legislature Building in the maintenance area where he worked for 22 years. After retirement he lived in Portage La Prairie when he passed on. Joseph was a humourous person who enjoyed a joke with anyone he met. He enjoyed socializing with his friends and relatives and even some ministers that he met at the Legislative Building. He was very proud he worked at the Legislative Building for a period of time.
Joe (Ta-ta-ko-ghat) will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him. Joe is survived by his brothers Milton, Leslie, Wallace, and sisters Bernice, and Patsy and numerous relatives, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A special thank you to Gordon, Sheila, and Alana for the help they provided making the arrangements for their uncle’s wake and funeral. Thank you to everyone who helped and came to the wake and funeral.
Wake began on Monday, March 17, 2008 in the Sandy Bay Community Complex, Sandy Bay First Nation, Manitoba.
Funeral service was held Wednesday, March, 19, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Our Lady Of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Sandy Bay First Nation, Manitoba with Father Roy George Vazhaplankudiyi officiating. Interment followed in the Sandy Bay Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ben McIvor, Joel McIvor, Milton Jr. McIvor, Stacy McIvor, Jason Hocaluk and Eric Houle. Honourary pallbearers were Jason McIvor, Denis McIvor, Adam McIvor, Marvin Roulette, Elvis Beaulieu and Darren McIvor.

Phyllis Margaret Hill
We are saddened to announce the passing of Phyllis Hill (nee Gamley) at the Portage General Hospital on Friday, March 14, at the age of 86.
Phyllis was born on Aug. 19, 1921 in Bradwardine, Mb. to William and Edith Gamley. The family lived in several small communities, as Jack continued his career with Manitoba Pool Elevators, before settling in MacGregor. After Jack's passing in 1982, Phyllis continued to enjoy life in the company of her family. Phyllis was fortunate to enjoy one last family Christmas and the recent birth of a great-grandson, Koy.
Lovingly remembered by daughters Audrey (Dan) deTremaudan and Sandra (Clint) Briscoe; sons Rob (Grace) and Randy (Brian); grandchildren Shelly, Cindy (Darrin), Todd (Christine), Trent, Nancy (Kelly), Laine and Jonathan; great grandchildren Trevor, Jessica, Bryce, Josh, Alissa, Sophie, Kyra, Kody Jayme, Reilly, Ty and Koy. Also surviving her a sister Isabelle (Clayton) Heron; sisters-in-law Frances Gamley and Madge Gamley; and nieces and nephews.
Mum was a kind and caring lady. Always concerned about her family and dear friends. Mum enjoyed knitting, playing scrabble and putting a puzzle together. Even with the convenience of a phone call, Mum never lost her love of writing letters. Mum was always grateful for the kindness and courtesy of others towards her.
In keeping with her wishes there will be no service and the interment will occur at a later date.

George David Roulette
The family sadly announces the passing of George Roulette on March 11, 2008 at the age of 79 years.
George lived in Winnipeg most of his life. He worked at Winnipeg Cold Storage from 1970 to 1994. George liked to play bingo when he wasn’t working, playing cards and listening to old time music. He also enjoyed jigging and playing guitar. He was always joking and laughing with everyone. He had a bid heart when it came to friends and family. He was always willing to help you. A man that rarely said no to anybody.
He was predeceased by his parents mother Janet Sinclair; father John James Roulette; baby twin girls from his first wife; his grandma Louisa Bruce; second wife Edna Flett (September 1999); and third wife Mary Bone (May 1997).
He is survived by common-law wife Delia Levasseur and family; children from 1st marriage sons David, Larry and Danny (Alice); children from 2nd marriage Muriel Malcolm (Gary), Lorena Ross (Wayne) and Melvin Flett (Janice); children from 3rd marriage sons; David Beauchamp (Helen) and Richard Beauchamp; daughter Georgina Roulette (Dennis); stepchildren Nelson Houle (Debbie), Stephen Beauchamp and Marlene Quewezance (Norman); foster children Jennifer Houle (Clayton) and Leon Houle (Charmaine).
Wake began at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2008 in the Ebb & Flow Band Hall, Ebb & Flow, Manitoba.
Funeral service was held Saturday, March 15, 2008 in the Ebb & Flow Band Hall with Father Norberto Monton officiating. Interment followed in the Amaranth Cemetery, Amaranth, Manitoba.

Joseph Wilbert Sutherland
Passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at Seven Regions Health Centre, Bert age 62 years of Sandy Bay First Nation, Manitoba.
He resided in Sandy Bay and received his education at the Sandy Bay Residential School and later went to Red River Community College and completed his electrical course. He worked for Thompson Electric of Amaranth for many years. He also worked as a carpenter and also as a labourer for various farms. He had three hobbies that he loved, hunting, playing pool and raising his grandchildren.
Bert was predeceased by his parents George and Eliza Sutherland; brother Clarence Sutherland; and sisters Doris, Katherine, Pearl, Betty and Virgina.
Bert is sadly missed by wife of 41 years Christina Roulette; sons Calvin (Bernadine) and Wilbert Jr.; daughters Jacqueline (Ron), Mellissa (Pierre) and Arvel (Ernest); sister Nellie Sutherland; granddaughters Renee, Nayirah, Jenis, Dimitria, Pierra, Janine and Kaydence; grandsons Blaine, Nathaniel, Dimitri, Duane, Lawrence, Wilbert and Jovin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and grandchildren.
Wake began at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at the Sandy Bay Community Complex, Sandy Bay First Nation, Manitoba.

Florence Helen Kelly (nee Snaith)
Peacefully on March 10, 2008, Florence Kelly passed away at the age of 85 years. Florence was born on February 6, 1923 on the Herb Snaith Farm (S1/2 Sec. 4-11-10) in the Norfolk Municipality. She was the youngest of six children born to Herbert and Miriam Snaith. Due to the untimely death of her mother shortly after her birth, she was raised by her “Auntie” Mary Ann Snaith and Uncle Alfred Snaith. She attended school at Rose Hill and she went on to take hairdressing at the Scientific Hairdressing School in Winnipeg. She married James David Kelly on October 27, 1945. They farmed the Kelly home farm until 1962 when the family moved to MacGregor. Here they raised their daughters and Florence worked as part time relief in Lye’s lumber yard.
Florence is survived by her three daughters; Sandra Manns, grandchildren Selina (Tom) Homer, great grandchildren James and Kayla Homer, Jason Manns (Amy Sawatsky); daughter Barbara (Bob) Lytle, grandchildren Ryan Lytle (Lisa Fosty), Kimberley (David) Tkachuk; and daughter Grace (Randy) MacDonald; her two brothers Fred (Muriel) and Roy; sister-in-law Florence Snaith; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years Jim, an infant daughter Deborah, her parents Herbert & Miriam and Alfred & Mary Ann, her brother George and her sisters Kay Pritchard and Mabel Leckie.
Funeral service was held on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the MacGregor United Church with Sandra Rex officiating. Interment was held prior to service at Beaver Creek Cemetery.

Norman Melfred Parsons
Norman was born August 15, 1934 at the Family homestead in Duck River, Manitoba, Norman passed away peacefully, surrounded with the love of his children on Monday, April 7, 2008 at Vancouver General Hospital, at the age of 73 years.
Norman was employed at the R.M. of Westbourne until his retirement in 1993. After his retirement he spent his days fishing, hunting and enjoying life with his friends at the campground.
He will always be lovingly remembered with a smile and a tear by his 4 children: Don (Lynda) Parsons, Robert (Donna) Parsons, Dennis (Shelly) Parsons and Jackie (Jim) Kidd and his 10 grandchildren Robert, Jason, Marrissa, Dino, Justina, Ty, Amberlynne, Kristin, Kaitlin and Dalton. Norman will also be remembered by his first wife Ina Parsons; sisters Alma Blabey and Lorna Parsons; brothers Gerald and Lawrence; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Norman was predeceased by his father John Grant MacKenzie; his mother Ina Anne Carefoot; brother Donald Grant; and second wife Barb.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, April 15, 2008 in the Gladstone United Church at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ian Olive officiating. Interment followed in the Gladstone Cemetery. Honourary pallbearers were Dennis Loney, Ollie Meyer, Billy & Helen Smith, Gordon & Shirley Wilkinson, Chris & Katy Bales and Lance & Anita Allan.
