Lamay will be held on Wednesday, August 1 and Thursday, August 2, between 6:00 p.m., and 12:00 a.m., (midnight), (prayers at 9:00 p.m., Thursday, August 2) at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 3, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Edward's Roman Catholic Church, 818 Arlington St., Rev. BERNARD (BEN) POIRIER Passed away suddenly Monday, November 1, 1999 at the Grace General Hospital. Ben was predeceased by his wife Minerva in 1994, his parents and sister Cecile in infancy. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his children Renald, Bernice (Roger), Diane, Janet (Lanny) and Debra (Hubert); grandchildren, Charlene (Paul), Rickey (Tanya), Kim (Chris), Stephen, Christopher, Andrea, Suzanne, Tammy, Carmen and Anthony; great-grandchildren Jesse, Dylan, Katia, Hali and Sarah; siblings Aubert, Denis, Gertrude Gaudry, Andy, Roland, Noella Lachapelle, Ghislaine Corbiere, Estelle Beaudry, Bernadette Beaudry, and Paul and many relatives and friends. Ben was born in Haywood, Manitoba. He served overseas in the Royal Canadian Navy. On his return to Canada he married Minerva Lilley and they raised a family in Winnipeg. Ben worked hard as a mechanic for most of his life. He spent much of his time in his workshop with woodworking and metal working. He also loved to help his neighbours, work in the garden, and to spend time with his family. He always gave of himself and never asked for anything in return. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 4, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. Interment Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Eden Reception Centre. A special thank you to the Grace Hospital Emergency Ward Staff and nurses on 4 East for the special care and compassion provided to Dad and family members. Donation in Ben's memory may be made to the Parkinson Foundation of Canada, 825 Sherbrook St., Wpg., MB. R3A 1M5. EMILY MAE CIPRYK (nee PIFKO) Peacefully at her residence, Emily Mae Cipryk, beloved wife of the late Adam Cipryk, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2001 in her 96th year. She will be sadly missed by her son Robert Cipryk and his wife Gail; granddaughter Nancy Campeau and her husband Roger; brother Paul Pifko and his wife Mary; sister Olga Teague and her husband Les, sister Helen Kolodziejak and her husband Victor; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Emily was predeceased by her daughter Marjorie in 1996. There will be a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1, in the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 59 Academy Road at Wellington Crescent with Pastor James Scholz officiating. Following a reception at the church, interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Flowers are gratefully declined, however, contributions may be made in Emily's memory to the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 59 Academy Rd., Winnipeg, MB R3M 0E2 or to D.A.S.C.H. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Oscar Domke for his many years of excellent service to Emily. STEWART ROSWELL CONQUERGOOD On July 28, 2001 at the Health Sciences Centre, Ross Conquergood, passed away at the age of 83 years. Ross was born in Winnipeg on March 16, 1918. He was raised and farmed in Lilyfield, Municipality of Rosser. Ross found joy in his life as a farmer, in his family and his many friends and in the acquaintances he met while attending auction sales throughout the countryside. He is survived by his sisters, Wilhelmina Smee (Bill), Murdena Kerr, Jean Patterson and Shirley White (Walter); and numerous devoted nieces and nephews. Ross was predeceased by his parents, Murdoch and Frances; sister Flora Elizabeth Green and her husband Harold; infant brother Thomas Matheson Conquergood; and brothers-in-law, Tom Patterson and Walter Kerr. Ross spent two happy years as a resident at Amber Meadows Seniors' Residence. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 2, at 2:00 p.m. in the Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway, with The Rev. Dr. Sharon Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the Lilyfield Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapels on Wednesday from 7:00 until 8:00 p.m. Honorary pallbearers will be John and Art Morrison, Les Wedge, Rene Monchalin and Bill Riggall. Active bearers will be Ross, Richard and Rodger Patterson, Bill Coggan, Dave Byington and Roger Matas. Piper will be Douglas Smee. ELSIE COOPMAN March 9, 1937 - July 29, 2001 Elsie Coopman passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 29, 2001 at the Grace General Hospital following a lengthy battle with cancer. She was 64 years of age. Elsie leaves to mourn her passing her loving husband Bryan; her daughter, Dawn; sons, Douglas (Ellen) and Darryl; grandson, Morgan and granddaughter, Audrey; brothers, George and Harvey (Doris). She is also survived by many other relatives and good friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Rupert and Maybelle Isaac. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7 as tokens of remembrance.
