NADIA ZIMMER Peacefully on Wednesday, September 1, 2004, at the Portage District General Hospital, Nadia Zimmer of Portage la Prairie, beloved wife of Stan Zimmer passed away at the age of 55 years. Prayers will be held in the Chapel of the Omega Funeral Home on Monday, September 6 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the Chapel of the Omega Funeral Home, Tuesday, September 7 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Michael Wollbaum officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Predeceased by her father Gino; three sisters, Fernanda (Umbalda), Dina (Bruno) and Ida (Ed); she leaves to mourn her passing her mother Marie of Edmonton, AB; her husband Stan of Portage; two sons, Sean and Robert; daughter Sharon; and grandchildren, Jordan and Jessica. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law Jeanette and Mary Ann; and several nieces and nephews. Should friends so desire, memorial may be made in Nadia's name to the Central Plains Cancer Care Services, 318 Saskatchewan Ave. E., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 0K8. "Dedicated to Those We Serve". ERNESTA "VERONA" BABB August 8, 1934 - August 29, 2004 Passed away peacefully with her family by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer. She will be deeply missed by her husband Denis; her two brothers, Sylvan and Wilfred; and sister Marcia; her five children, Judy and husband Mathieu, Graham, Michael and wife Lyn, Peter and wife Lolitta, and Debra and husband Steve; her cherished grandchildren, Andrew, Chelsea, Courtney, Jessica, Jarrell, Michael, Kamele, and Halle; as well as other relatives and dear friends. Verona will be remembered as a generous, warm, and caring person who loved life and enjoyed the company of her family and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital. Their kindness and compassion for Verona and her family was greatly appreciated. Funeral service will be held at the Henderson Highway, Seventh Day Adventists Church, 1314 Henderson Hwy., Winnipeg, MB on Friday, September 3 at 11:00 a.m. Committal will follow at the Transcona Cemetery, 5014 Dugald Rd., Winnipeg.

AMOS EMILE BISSECK With deep sadness the family announces Emile's sudden passing at his Winnipeg home on Sunday, August 29, 2004, at the age of 72 years. Emile is survived by his loving wife Simone; his two sons, Dr. Marc Bisseck (daughter-in-law Susan and granddaughter Danielle) and Andre Bisseck; as well as extended family members in Cameroon and in Canada. He was predeceased by his parents. Emile was born in Cameroon, West Africa on August 5, 1932. As a young man he moved to Paris to pursue his career as a musician. While living in Paris, he met and married Simone Gentes, and their first son was born there. They moved to Winnipeg in 1974, where their second son was born. Emile worked in a number of different occupations, and retired about 10 years ago, but his passion was always his music. Emile was a well-known and respected percussionist, performing with several different groups, and was a mainstay performer at Folklorama for over 30 years. Of particular note was his role in the recent movie, "The Saddest Music in the World". Emile was also an enthusiastic busker at the Forks, and loved to entertain with his African xylophone and drums. He was also an avid fisherman. Family was very important to Emile, and he was a devoted husband and father. He was very proud of his sons and their accomplishments, and was delighted with his granddaughter Danielle. Emile remained in contact with his Cameroon family and friends, and had the opportunity to visit them in the recent years. He had a great many friends in the music scene, the Afro-Caribbean Association, and in fishing. He will be missed by many. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 1, at 7:00 p.m., at the Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that friends make donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of their choice. SANDRA GAIL BLACKMON (nee STIMPSON) Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, Sandy passed away with her sister by her side, on Monday morning, August 30, 2004 at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 63 years. She is lovingly survived by her husband Bruce; children, David (Michelle), Melanie Hysop (Rod Hastman) and Michael; grandchildren, Lindy, Heather and Katie Blackmon, Carolyn Hysop and Shawn Trudeau; her mother Hilda; her sister Judy (Jack) Flood; brother-in-law Don (Rose) Blackmon; and by four nephews. A special thank you to Judy, Evelyn, Rose, and Cathy for spending countless hours by her side, you exemplify the love of a true friend. As well, a special thank you to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit of the St. Boniface Hospital. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. No. 1 East at Navin Road. on Thursday, September 2 at 7:00 p.m., followed by a reception in the Heritage Room. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Palliative Care Endowment Fund, in care of St. Boniface Hospital & Research Foundation, 409 Tache Ave., Room D1 003, Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6 would be deeply appreciated. SOPHIE BORSON (nee Klym) Passed away peacefully on July 29, 2004 in California at the age of 85 years. Sophie was born on November 8, 1918 in Gimli, MB, the thirteenth of fifteen children of Michael and Anna Klym. Sophie is survived by her sons, Ronald (Elizabeth) Borson of Palm Desert, CA and Sheldon (Kim) Borson of Alta Loma, CA, daughter Cheryl (David) Eddings of Manhattan Beach, CA. Also surviving is brother Stephen (Jean) Klym of Nanaimo, MB, 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. A resident of Manitoba for the past 30 years, she had previously lived in Whittier, CA with her family until 1974, when she moved to Winnipeg. Sophie was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and her memory and smile will be cherished forever in our hearts. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 4 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gilbart Funeral Chapel on 1st Ave. in Gimli, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sophie's memory to the charity of one's choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli, in care of arrangements.
