MARGARET MARY KEELAN (nee HEWITT) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother. On August 22, 2004 with her family by her side, Mary joined God in Heaven. Mary was born in Toronto, ON, the eldest daughter of Jack and Gertrude Hewitt. The family moved to Winnipeg where she attended St. Mary's Academy. She graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree. She married John Patrick Keelan and together they raised five children in their family home on Borebank Street. Mary is now reunited with her parents and her husband Pat. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her sisters, Patricia Bean and Joan Sutherland; her children, Joanne, Mike, Patrick, Maureen (Bujar) and Ron; daughter-in-law Kathy; grandchildren, Dave (Laura) Danny, and Alyson; and great-grandson Chase; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours. Mary was a devout Catholic and longtime member of St. John Brebeuf parish. She was a tireless volunteer, always willing to help those in need. Benefitting from her efforts were Meals on Wheels, Agape Table, Sisters of Mother Teresa, St. John Brebeuf school and parish, St. Ignatius Refugee Committee, League for Life, Canadian Cancer Society, and many other charities and worthy causes. She enjoyed travelling and spending time with her family. One of her favourite places was her cottage at Victoria Beach. She loved animals, especially her dogs Dutchy and Bruin and granddogs Bugsy and Annie. Mary lived her life for others and was especially devoted to her dear family. Her children never doubted her love for them and could always count on her support. Though we know she is now with God, she will be dearly missed. We love you Mom and Nanna.
