WILLIAM ROBERT SLATNIK Bill passed away suddenly at home, Monday, August 23, 2004 after a beautiful day spent at the Park with his granddaughter Jennifer. "Poppa" was so proud of the newest addition to our family. Bill's pride and joy were his two sons Trevor and Todd. He was so proud of their many accomplishments. Todd and Trevor have not only lost a loving caring father but a friend as well. Bill grew up on the family farm in Glenside, SK. He left home early and spent many years as a surveyor with Kenting Exploration, Calgary, AB, and later was employed by Greyhound Bus Lines until his retirement in 2001. Bill is survived by his wife of 36 years Lynda; two sons, Todd and Trevor; daughter-in-law Treva; granddaughter Jennifer; and brother John of Esteven, SK; as well as many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank everyone for their kindness and support. Heartfelt gratitude to the paramedics and neighbour who tried tirelessly to help our beloved husband, father and grandfather. Funeral services will take place on Friday, August 27 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Anglican Church, 3830 Roblin Blvd. Graveside service will follow in Green Acres Cemetery, Hwy. KATHLEEN MARY (KAY) SUTTON Kay passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2004 at The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her parents, Leonard J. Sutton and Dorothy M. Sutton and her sister-in-law Ann Sutton. She is survived by her brother Richard, her nephew Jim Sutton and his wife Lisa and daughter Claire as well as numerous cousins in England. Kay was born in St. Vital at the family home on Egerton Road, attended Glenwood School and Glenlawn Collegiate where she was a member of the first Grade 12 class at the Collegiate. She also attended Angus Business College. She worked for a number of years for the T. Eaton Company in the Mail Order Advertising Department and then for the Federal Civil Service in the Unemployment Insurance Department and Corporate and Consumer Affairs, retiring in 1984. After retirement she worked as a volunteer for the Manitoba Museum of Man and Nature cataloguing and writing descriptions of new artifacts as they were received by the museum. She was a longtime member of St. Mark's Anglican Church in St. Vital and a faithful member of the choir as well as a Sunday School teacher. She loved to travel, visiting England many times as well as Malaya and the southern United States. Her kindness and hospitality knew no bounds and she entertained relatives from overseas many times. She is particularly remembered by her nephew Jim for the generosity she showed to him. The family wish to thank the staff of The Convalescent home of Winnipeg for welcoming her into their family and providing such wonderful care for the last four years. Cremation has taken place an a committal service will be held at St. Vital Cemetery at 4:00 p.m. Friday, August 27. WILLIAM (BILL) YACYNA Peacefully, on Monday, August 23, 2004, Bill Yacyna, loving husband of Olga, passed away with his family by his side. Besides his loving wife of 57 years, Bill is survived by his daughter Kathy Baryski (husband Allan); two grandchildren, Karaleen Christie (Cory), Bill Baryski (Amanda); and numerous dear friends. He was predeceased by his loving parents, Peter (1944) and Anastasia Yacyna (1982). Bill was born in Winnipeg November 7, 1916. As a young boy, his mother instilled in him his Ukrainian heritage, leading him to be a Ukrainian dancer under the direction of Avramanko. He was also an avid wedding photographer where he had photographed many of his friends' nuptials. During his lifetime, he was a member of the Legion 141 fishing club, and enjoyed fishing after he built his cottage in Falcon Lake in 1955. Also during that time, he belonged to the Centennial Swimming Club. Until his retirement he was employed by Canadian Airlines. During his retirement, he enjoyed his building of model airplanes and oil paintings. He cherished his grandchildren, and enjoyed his time with them at the lake, teaching them how to swim, fish and about nature. Cremation has taken place and memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 27 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. with Fr. Michael Krochak officiating. We would like to thank all emergency staff at Seven Oaks Hospital, at the time of need, and a special thanks to Dr. Kroczak. A very special thank you to Anne Ostry, our angel in a time of need. BRIAN CAMERON YOUNG Our family has experienced the loss of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather. As a single parent, Dad was always there for us. He cared for us when we were sick, supported us throughout our school years and spent many hours watching us play baseball, hockey and ringette. We have many fond memories of camping trips and other family outings. Dad always did his best for us and loved us in his own way. Blood is not always thicker than water and he will always be in our hearts. Left with memories is daughter Colleen (Robert); son Glen (Cheryl); and daughter Terry; grandchildren, Tanis, Kandyce, Keenan, Blake and Trevor; great-grandchildren, Evan, Tristen and Kayden. A private family service has been held.

PAUL EDOUARD BERNIER Our beloved husband, father, grandpa and pepere passed away peacefully at home on August 21, 2004 surrounded by family and friends after a lengthy illness, at the age of 82. He is survived by Delia, his wife of 59 years; and three siblings, Roger (Eva), Alma (Maurice - deceased) Meilleur, and Simonne (Auray) Meilleur; also in-laws, Lea Raymond, Amanda and Leo Lagasse, Jeanne, Jeanne, Leontine, and Therese Meilleur; 15 children, Gerald (Sue), Andre (Lynne), Lionel (Pat), Claude (Evonne), David (Darlene), Paulette (Jack) Mann, Jocelyne (Jon) Slough, Carmelle (Clifford) Stodgell, Noella (Brian) Rudge, Marc (Joyce), Nicole (Ron) Gagaluk, Paul Jr. (Helen), Laurent (Linda), Richard (Diane) and Michelle (Terry) Truthwaite; 32 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Corinne, his young sister Florence and an infant daughter Marie. Paul was born in St. Jean Baptiste, MB on December 18, 1921. He began his journey to his current home in Fisher Branch at the age of 10 years driving a team of horses. From a young age he knew great responsibilities and developed a strong work ethic. He began his service in the army at the age of 21 years, until his medical discharge in 1946. He followed in his dad's footsteps and took up the challenge of farming, which became his livelihood. However, to support his growing family he began work as a miner at the gold mines in Red Lake, ON for several months. To supplement his income he built several houses, including his own home. His skills as a carpenter was learned at the age of 14 as a logger with his father. He never shied away from helping others. His generosity of time and money knew no limits. Paul was involved in various committees that helped construct several local buildings; such as the Fisher Branch Elementary School, the community complex, as well as the major renovations to the Roman Catholic Church. He played an executive role in many local organizations such as the Royal Canadian Legion, Hodgson Branch #158, the Fisher Branch School Board and the Knights of Columbus. Despite his many achievements, one of his greatest gifts was his ability to create. He held two patents for farm equipment. His many hobbies included playing the violin, singing in the church choir, playing hardball and hockey. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and curling. In later years he enjoyed trips with Delia, travelling to Australia, New Zealand, the South Pacific, Europe, Yukon and Alaska, Palm Springs for 14 winters, and his last trip was to Mazatlan, Mexico in 1999. But his greatest love was his enjoyment of family and friends. Everyone was welcome at the Bernier household. He will be dearly missed. Many thanks to all those who performed such acts of kindness with a visit, a hug or a kind word. Your donations of food, money or homes are so greatly appreciated. Thanks to all of dad's support services in the community such as Percy E. Moore Hospital. Fisher Branch Clinic and Fisher Branch Personal Care Home. Many of these staff members became a part of our family. Special thanks to Adele Plishka whose endless support to Mom and Dad can never be measured. Pallbearers are his grandchildren, Christopher, Michael, Aaron and Claude Jr. Bernier, Kyle Stodgell, Steven Gagaluk. LYNN GAIL BLAKEY (nee ZARICHNEY) April 10, 1945 - August 23, 2004 After a short battle with cancer, Lynn Gail Blakey passed away at the Concordia Hospital, with her family be her side, at the age of 59. Lynn will be missed by her three children, Coreen (Tom), Ginger (Terry), Brent (Jasmine); and grandchildren, Anthony, Jennifer, Michael, Shaun, Drew, Marcus, Reese and Evan. She is also survived by her sister Peggy (Odis) Waters. She was predeceased by her mother Mildred Chercoe, father Mike Zarichney, brother Robert Zarichney, and by her nephew Stacey Durie. Lynn was a very loving mother and grandmother and will be loved and missed forever. At Lynn's request, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. A private gathering of family and friends will be held at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3.
