He is survived by his loving wife Marie of 34 years; and children, Jack Palen (Marilyn), Shirley McMahon (Barry), Lorraine Smith, Linda Carlson (Reg), Frankie Palen, Wayne Ellison (Stephanie, Murray Ellison (Joan), Faye Kusnick (Richard). He will also be greatly missed by his 22 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his first wife Marjorie (1968); sister Julia; brother Sandy; son-in-law Vern Smith; stepsons, Dell Ellison and Campbell Ellison. Bill was born in Teulon on August 23, 1913 and lived all of his life in Teulon farming in the Stackpoole area for many years. He worked for Nelson River Construction and was for a time custodian of the Teulon Hall. He was a dedicated school bus driver for several years retiring in 1978. For his enjoyment, he spent many an hour with Marie training and showing horses and restoring old buggies and cutters. He took great enjoyment in family and music. He was known to play the fiddle in his earlier years with brother Sandy and other family and nothing brought him more joy than having his family all around him singing while Marie played the piano. After retirement Bill and Marie took great enjoyment with their shared love of nature going on many an afternoon drive and perhaps stopping for lunch. If you were able to catch them at home you had better be prepared to play cards or shuffleboard. Although we know he is at peace now, he will always be lovingly remembered and forever in our hearts. Special thanks from the family to the doctors and staff of Teulon Hospital and all his caregivers at Tudor House and Rosewood Lodge for all the wonderful care during the many stages of his illness.
