IRENE ZATONSKI July 11, 1919 - August 18, 2004 On a blustery day five stories below heaven, Irene gusted into Mother Mary's waiting arms at the age of 85. Irene was predeceased by her husband Tadeusz (Ted) July 18, 1983. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Jeannette (Jojo) and son Richard; grandsons, Lee (Cindy) and Kyle (Nicole); granddaughters, Deanna and Tia; great-grandsons, Zachary, Rayne, Ethan; great-granddaughters, Charly and Kaylie; one sister Maria; her children, Zbig (Anna) and Henia; grandchildren, Monica, Jessica and Candace; also many dear relatives and friends, Tami and Pamela. We lost a very strong lady who survived the horrors of the Second World War, but succumbed to the terror of cancer. She was born in Lodz, Poland; there she lost her parents and five brothers and sisters. After the war she settled in Winnipeg where she met her Ted and married. They raised their children in the North End. Irene was an excellent cook who honed her culinary skills in the Winnipeg Airport Restaurant for thirty years. Her meals were legendary at home and at work. Baby Uhma loved babies and bingo and was lucky at both. Her friends were many and complaints were few. Grams was a loving lady who gave all she could to all she loved. Special thanks to Dr. Finlayson and the great staff from the 5th floor at Seven Oaks Hospital and also to the other caregivers involved. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, August 24 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 25 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue with an Oblate Father officiating. Interment to follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. Pallbearers are Joey Szor, Cory Campbell, J.C. Campbell, David Orvis, Larry Monkman and Jean-Louis Charbonneau. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044

JOYCE ENID KERR (nee JOHNSON) Peacefully on Friday, January 5, 2001, our Mom, Joyce Enid Kerr, passed away in Mississauga with family at her side. Joyce, wife of the late R. Bruce Kerr, loving mother of Elliott, Debbie, Michael and Rob and cherished grandmother of Howard (H.B.), Travis, Alexandra, Melyssa and Bruce. In her working life, Joyce was most fulfilled at UNICEF where she spent many years as a staff member and volunteer. Always quick with a poem, a song or a clever joke, Joyce loved to laugh and she took great joy in being able to brighten the lives of others. Her always friendly smile, her warmth, her generosity and wonderful sense of humour will be fondly remembered by all those she touched. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy. 10, N. of QEW) from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9. A private family service will be held on Wednesday. JEAN PHYLLIS DAVIS Peacefully, after a brief illness, Jean Davis, aged 88 years of Selkirk, widow of Frank Davis, passed away on August 19, 2004 at the Selkirk General Hospital. She leaves to mourn her loss, sons, Raymond and Don; daughters, Barbara and Diane (Tony); nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Frank, a son Robert, five sisters and a brother. Jean enjoyed life, was always interested in music, bridge and bowling, participating regularly in these activities. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB, R2L 1X3. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.

DOROTHY VALENTINE GOSLING (nee REID) Dorothy was born in Winnipeg, February 14, 1918 and resided here most of her life. The last few years were spent in Middlechurch Home. Widow of Frank Alan Gosling her soul mate. Dorothy's childhood memories of Gimli and Lonie Beach were ever strong. She had many lifelong friends and especially loved a game of bridge. Mom's life although not always easy was very full. Her immediate family that was once so huge and now so few all knew her special and loving qualities. She was predeceased by sisters, Anne (Harry), Jean; brothers, Dave (Muriel), John (Evelyn) and Jim (Betty-Jane); and brothers-in-law, Ernie and Bob (Anita). Dorothy is survived by son Jim and wife Heather; grandchildren, Andrew, Gavin and Jonathan, as well as Jesselyn, Jason, Brittany, Andrea and Jody who were always near her heart; brother-in-law Roy (Joyce), Don of Calgary; sister-in-law Jean of Victoria and many nieces and nephews. In accordance to Mom's wishes she will be cremated. A graveside service will be held at Brookside Cemetery on Friday, August 20 at 11:00 a.m. Special thanks to all the staff at Middlechurch Home. WINNIFRED MARY KULDYS "WINNIE" (nee BERENS) On Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at the St. Boniface Hospital, Winnifred Mary Kuldys passed away at the age of 72 years. She leaves to mourn her children, Matilda Gibb (Jim), Stanley Kuldys Jr. (Karen), Earl Kuldys (Marian), Marie Hopp (Walter), Hazel Pouliot, Barbara Kuzma (Michael), Betty Russell (Kevin), Charlotte Gladney (Chris); her grandchildren, Cheryl, Sharon, Michelle, Ryan, Elysse, Corey, Jennifer, Danielle, Tannis, Brad, Colin, Amy, Donavan, Melissa, Cassandra, Sabrina, Rochelle and Shane; great-grandchildren, Kersten, Cairo and Ethan. She was predeceased by her husband Stanley Kuldys Sr. and her parents, Charlotte and Gordon Berens. "Winnie" met her husband Stanley in 1951, started their family in Bissett, MB, moving to Windsor Park, Winnipeg where the family grew up. She spent the remaining years living between Winnipeg and Berens River. She was known as the "Bingo Lady". She was also actively involved in the Roman Catholic Church in Berens River. "Winnie" worked in a few different fields; dietary at St. Boniface Hospital, cook at the Pickel Lake Mine and catering. Later she became a translator and escort for Medical Services and Indian Affairs. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. "Winnie" considered all the generous people in Berens River her second family. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren and great-grand-children. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the Berens River Band. We also wish to thank the staff of 6E Geriatric Unit at the St. Boniface Hospital. Wake services to be held on Friday, August 20, Saturday, August 21 and Sunday, August 22 in Berens River, MB. Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 23 at 11:00 a.m. at the Berens River Roman Catholic Church, Berens River with Fr. Rheal Forest officiating.
