STELLA SYCH 1927 - 2004 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Stella Sych on August 18, 2004, at the Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 76 years. Stella is survived by her husband William; son Jeffrey; grandchildren, Jennifer and Andrew. Stella's family was very important to her. She was always caring for them in whichever way she could - this would include sewing, baking and cooking. No funeral service will be held. Cremation has taken place. NESTER BOHDAN TRACH It is with deep sorrow that the family of Nester Bohdan Trach announce his passing, August 17, 2004 after a courageous battle with liver cancer, at the age of 65 years. Cherishing his memory is Jeanette, his loving wife and daughter Lynne. Nester is also survived by his mother Stephanie; his brother Julien (Betty); sisters, Theresa Ford and Donna (Mike) Najda; brother-in-law Algi Kaslauskas; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Steve Trach; brother David; sister Lorraine and brother-in-law Gordon Ford. Nester was in sales all his life. He owned his own manufacturers and distributors agency. He always had a joke to put a smile on your face. He will be missed as he deeply touched the lives of those he met. Nester's family wish to thank the Doctors and Nurses at Health Sciences Centre and Riverview Health Centre. A special thank you to Dr. Ray Martens. Cremation has taken place and a private service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Nester's memory to the charity of your choice. LILLIAN TROMAN (nee FLOYD) Peacefully on Tuesday, August 17, 2004, with family by her side, it is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Lillian at the Grace Hospice at the age of 89 years. Lillian was predeceased by her husband Joseph; son Kenny; parents Harry and Annie Floyd; sisters, Edith, Jessie and Elsie and brothers, Albert, Raymond Cliff and Ken. She is survived by her sisters, Dorothy of Winnipeg, Phyllis of Woodlands and Edna of Vancouver; brother Bill of Winnipeg. She is also survived by her daughters, Audrey Peters (Mike), Barbara Snelgrove (Brian) and Susan Reilly (Bob), all of Winnipeg, plus many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mom loved travelling with her family; going to Grand Beach in the summer with them and her many spring and fall gambling trips with the girls. To Mom family meant everything and she would do anything to help them out. She made many friends at the block and enjoyed all the social functions downstairs. Polo Park will never be the same without her. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 23 at 1:00 p.m. in Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. A private family interment will be held at a later date. HAZEL WEBSTER It is with much sorrow that the family of Hazel Webster announces her passing on Wednesday, August 18, 2004, aged 97 years, at the Grace General Hospital. Mother was predeceased by her loving husband, Bert in 1997; brothers, Alfred and Harvey Gray; sister, Georgina Hyndman and brother-in-law Bill; sisters-in-law, Marie Gray and Ruby Gray; and son-in-law, Bob Randolph. She will be deeply missed by her loving children, son, Keith (Helen); daughters, Heather Webster and Sheila Randolph; grandchildren, Scott Webster, Karyn (Will) Pegler, Jason (Natalia) Randolph, and Christopher Randolph. Her loss will also be felt by her great-grandchildren, Kyle, Darian, Sierra and Justin. Mother is also survived by her nieces, Audrey (Bert) Dawson, Beverley-Ann (Ron) Coveney, Lorraine (Gary) Gray, and nephew Arnold (Norah) Gray; as well as several cousins. Mother was born June 24, 1907 to Jane and Charles Gray, at the home of her maternal grandparents, Isabel and Alfred Strachan in the Scotia District of the Municipality of Hamiota, Manitoba. She received her education in Crandall, Manitoba, later moving to Winnipeg where she was employed at the T. Eaton Co. until her marriage to Bert on August 3, 1934. They were life-long residents of Winnipeg, having had homes on Arlington, Ingersoll and Ainslie Streets. Following her marriage, Mother became a full-time homemaker, focusing on her family and becoming an active member of her community. In earlier years, she was a member of Harstone United Church. As her years progressed, she coped with the loss of her eyesight and expressed her wish that should friends so desire, donations in her memory be made to the C.N.I.B., 1080 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3G 3M3. FERN MILDRED WHITE Peacefully in her sleep, in her 97th year, Mother passed on at the Health Sciences Centre on Monday, August 16, 2004. A memorial service and reception will be held at the Lion's Manor, 320 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg on Tuesday, August 24 at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow the reception in the family plot at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. SILVIA WILKIE (GUZEJ) It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Silvia Wilkie, at the age of 53, on August 15, 2004 at her residence at Sandy Hook, MB. She leaves to cherish her memory, her father Karl Guzej; husband Jim Wilkie; son Jamie Wilkie; daughter Tracy Wilkie; grandson Michael Wilkie; brother John Guzej (Maureen), two sisters, Karla Guzej (Dana) and Betty Guzej; niece and nephew, Michelle and Marc Guzej. Her aunts, Justina Krajnc, Slavica Perus and their families; as well as numerous family members in Slovenia. She was predeceased by her mother Matilda Guzej on July 2, 2003. Silvia was born on November 25, 1950 in Celje, Slovenia. She arrived in Canada with her parents and her brother on October 9, 1957. Silvia was a Hair Stylist since she was 16 years old, and to her it was more than just a job. She loved the interaction and getting to know her customers, sharing advice and helping people with turmoil in their lives, sharing special events such as weddings and graduations. Silvia touched many peoples lives and developed special bonds. Silvia loved the times she spent with her family. Her trips to Grand Forks, renting a cabin at Grand beach, camping and fishing. Especially the times spent at her cabin at Sandy Hook, where she was grateful that her friends and family could come and spend the days with her. Some of the highlights of her life were her trip to Las Vegas with her daughter Tracy on her 50th birthday and her most recent trip to Dominican Republic with her special friend Ed Miguez. Silvia was renowned for the enjoyment she took in sharing email messages with her wide circle of friends, who will all dearly miss her daily jokes and goodwill. The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses for the care they provided for her. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, August 24 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave. with Fr. Samuel Argenziano presiding. Prayers will be held Monday, August 23 at 7:30 p.m. from Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church. FLORENCE WOWRYK Florence Wowryk of Shoal Lake passed away on Friday, August 20, 2004, at the Shoal Lake Strathclair Health Centre at the age of 78 years. Florence is survived by son Ken Wowryk (Ellen Maxwell) of Winnipeg; four daughters, Shirley Wowryk (Doug Young) of Shoal Lake, Diane (Larry) Lukaschuk of Shoal Lake, Barb (Renny) Hallam of Medicine Hat, AB and Darlene (Peter) Prevost of Red Deer, AB; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Catherine Dobrowski of Saskatoon, SK, Doris (Matt) Tkachyk of Elm Creek and Liz Patzer of East St. Paul, MB. The funeral service will be on Monday, August 23, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Helen's Roman Catholic Church, Shoal Lake, with interment following in the parish cemetery. Prayers will be said Sunday evening at 8:00 p.m. Rev. Deacon Conrad Plante will officiate. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Shoal Lake-Strathclair Health Centre, Palliative Care Unit or the Leukemia Research Fund.
