MARGARET (MEGS) ROBINSON August 31, 1926 - July 18, 2004 With great sadness, Ruth Drew announced the passing of Megs in St. Boniface Hospital, July 18, 2004. In early childhood she was predeceased by her mother, Mrs. Frank Robinson; an infant sister Ruth; and later by her chosen mother, Mrs. Park Tucker. Brothers, Arthur, Bruce and Murray also predeceased her. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews including John Robinson, Florida; Sister Mary Beth Robinson, Massachusetts, Park Robinson, Calgary; sister-in-law Mary Taylor, Toronto, and had happily accepted Kerry and Brian Acland's invitation to join their family. Megs attended high school in Mamaroneck, New York, obtained her business diploma from the University of New York State and was employed in the advertising department of the New York Times. When she took up residence in Winnipeg, she joined the Winnipeg Tribune as secretary to the executive editor and later was appointed executive secretary to the publisher. She also received a business diploma from the Banff School of Fine Arts. Megs was a member of the Women's Sales and Advertising Club, director of the Wildewood Club in charge of food and beverages, helped to organize the curling section of the Club even though she had never thrown a rock, and was president of Southwood Green Condominium in its early stages. She loved sports and enjoyed and played badminton, basketball, baseball, golf and field hockey. Rowing at the Winnipeg Canoe Club was another of her favourite activities. When she was figure skating at the Winnipeg Winter Club she was a member of the group that performed in Brandon starring Barbara Ann Scott. In earlier life at St. George's Crescentwood Anglican Church she was actively involved with the Brownies and a bible study group. A service was held at St. George's followed by a celebration of her life at the Wildewood Club. Cremation has taken place and committal will be at a later date in St. John's Cathedral cemetery. KAREN CHRISTA NOEL ROTONDO April 2, 1969 - August 3, 2004 Left to cherish Karen's memory is her beloved husband Gary, her step-daughter Rose, his sister Janet (Ron Joyce), mother-in-law Anne Rotondo and many wonderful friends. Karen was predeceased by her friend and father-in-law Antonio Rotondo. She is survived by her mother Linda Grant (Ron Lyric), sister Laura McFee (Ron), step-sisters, Cheryl, Christine, Karen and Marlene as well as her Aunt Janet Guthrie and cousins, Larry and Scott Guthrie. Karen was born and resided in the Winnipeg area. Her creativity was limitless, her depth immeasurable. She was a devoted wife and partner, and friend to many. Her life though short was meaningful. Music was a passion and she enjoyed singing, travelling, the outdoors and reading an interesting novel. Animals brought a magnificent smile to her face. Karen's heart was pure gold and she loved to give to others. She was proficient at sign language, delighted in writing children's stories and dreamt of creating a safe world for children. Let your light shine on us Karen, for you are the stars in the sky - We love you. You are now safe and at peace in the arms of Jesus. Spiritually was Karen's focus in life. FRANK VERNON POMPANA RUML It is with extreme sadness and heavy hearts that Pamela Pompana and Mark Ruml grieve the tragic loss of their infant son, Frank Vernon Pompana Ruml. Affectionately known as "Booboo" by his Mom and Dad, he was also given the name Saagastay (Sunrise) by a family-friend and was known as Meegisens by other friends of Mark and Pam. Booboo was a perfectly healthy, beautiful little Dakota Hoksheeda who, on Wednesday, August 4, 2004, was tragically taken from the arms and hearts of a loving family that will miss him dearly. An all night come and go wake will be held on Sunday, August 8 beginning at 5:00 p.m. followed by interment on Monday August 9 1:00 p.m. at Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Cropo Funeral Chapel 586-8044

LAURA SIERMACHESKY (MANAHAN) Peacefully, on Thursday, August 5, 2004, at the Selkirk General Hospital, Laura Siermachesky, aged 94 years, of Selkirk. Laura Danchuk was born in Stenen, SK on April 20, 1910. Her mother and father raised a family of five sons and four daughters. She married William Manahan and together they managed the Dunlop farm in Yorkton, SK. William then gained employment with Co-op Dairies in Yorkton and they moved there with their two young sons. Later in life she moved to Winnipeg where she and Tony Siermachesky were married. She was employed at Rice Sportswear as head floorlady until her retirement. She kept the neatest house in Winnipeg where everything was either scrubbed clean to perfection or wrapped in plastic bags. The "Price is Right" with Bob Barker was rarely missed on her black and white 12 inch television. Her two sons Leonard and Jack were the joy of her life and they were always only a phone call away. They spent the last five years in Selkirk as residents of the Knights Centre and Laura has been a resident of Betel Home since September. She was predeceased by her first husband, William Manahan; her son Jack; grandson Dean; sisters, Mary, Annie and Verna; brothers, Mike, John, Andrew and Joe. Remaining to celebrate her life are her husband Tony; son Leonard and his wife Dorene; daughter-in-law Diane. She was also Grandma to five grandchildren, Christine (Doug Wasnie), Greg (Sandy), Susan (Rick Quinn), David (Lisa), Ward (Cindy) and 15 great-grandchildren, Lisa, Michael, Taylor, Branden, Jordan, Christi, Ian, Arianne, Louis, Genevieve, Renee, Marissa, Cassie, Lexie and J.J. Also left surviving is her only brother, Matt Danchuk (Olga) and many nieces and nephews. In keeping with her wishes, a prayer service will be held on Monday, August 9 at 7:00 p.m. at Gilbart's Funeral Home Selkirk with a private graveside service at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, August 11. A special thank you to Dr. Demsas, the caring staff of Betel Home and Selkirk General Hospital for the compassionate care they gave to her. Flowers are gratefully declined. WILLIAM SMITH 1918 - 2004 Peacefully at his residence, Bill Smith passed away on August 3, 2004 after a short illness, at the age of 85 years. Dad was born on August 18, 1918 in Melfort, SK. Dad lived most of his life in Camper, MB. He farmed for many years and also worked for Manitoba Hydro for 28 1/2 years. After his retirement from Hydro, Dad took up several hobbies. He was always going to the bush with the boys to cut wood for the winter. Dad always made sure that there was a plentiful supply of wood for upcoming events. Dad loved to work in his vegetable garden and flower gardens. He took great pride in how his yard looked and also took care of Mom's grave. There was always work to do on his tractors. Dad liked going to auction sales and yard sales. He belonged to the Camper New Horizons Club, and always went to to play bingo at Camper and Ashern . He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Lloyd (Dale), Shirley (Garry), Carolyn (Fred), Ken (Barb), Darlene (Reg), Keith (Lorraine), Laverne (Victor), Debbie (Wilf), Gary (Nadine), Gail (Larry), Robert (Wendy), Ernest (Lesley) and Terry (Kathy); also 33 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Ellen Smith, Mina (Ed), Dorothy, and Dody (Ken); a brother-in-law Phillip (Mary); and his Auntie Chrissie; also many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. Dad was predeceased by his wife Barbara in 1990, his parents George and Flora, and an infant daughter Sharon in 1945; also a son-in-law Elvin Kufus, his brother George, his father and mother-in-law Phillip and Barbara Mattern, and his brothers-in-law Ernie, Charlie and George. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 9, 2004 at the Camper Community Hall with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the hall. Interment to follow in the Lakeside Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be all his grandchildren and all his great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be his six grandsons David, Darrell, Raynard, Kenneth, Michael and Jack. Friends and relatives may pay their respects between 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 8, 2004 at the Arnason Funeral Home in Ashern. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff and also Glen Arnason and John Gray for their services. BESSIE (BERNICE) SOKOLOSKI On Wednesday, August 4, 2004, at the Tuxedo Villa Nursing Home, Winnipeg, Bernice Sokoloski passed away at the age of 77 years. She was born February 22, 1926, in Ladywood, MB. She moved with her family to Pine Falls in 1930. After a brief time living in Ontario during the war years she moved back to Pine Falls to work in the mill for a time, then on to Winnipeg. She worked as a post mistress at Donald Drugs at the corner of Donald and Broadway until the establishment closed. After a few more years of work at the Scientific Beauty School she took a welcome retirement. Bernice had many friends and acquaintances who will miss her. She was a member of the Coronation Rebecah Lodge #51 in Pine Falls and an associate member of the Sunshine Lodge in Winnipeg for many years. Her brothers Bill and Ollie and her sister Rose along with many nieces and nephews and cousins will miss her happy voice. Bernice was always the one that kept all the extended family aware of what was happening. She was the glue that kept us all in touch. She will be sadly missed. Cremation has taken place and services will be held at a later date. If friends so desire memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Winnipeg, MB.
