MARLENE MAE WESLEY March 30, 1947 - July 14, 2004 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marlene Wesley at the age of 57 on Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at St. Boniface Hospital. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother. After months of battling with cancer, she went peacefully with her family by her side. The shock of her diagnosis, shortly followed by the time of her passing, left many of us in a state of surprise and sorrow. Her memory will be cherished by her loving husband David; daughters, Tanis and Alanna and granddaughter Kyla. She is also survived by sisters, Erma and Val, brother Louis; son-in-law Mezgebe; nephews, Michael, Martin and Miguel; cousins, friends and colleagues. Marlene was born in Walker's Wood, Jamaica in 1947. In the mid 70's, she moved to Winnipeg, later meeting David. They married on June 23, 1979, and raised two lovely daughters, Tanis and Alanna. Marlene was a devoted nurse of 28 years at St. Boniface Hospital, and retired in August of 2002. Marlene's life and love revolved around her family and friends. She was immensely proud of her family and actively kept abreast of the life of her granddaughter. She enjoyed her home, particularly baking and gardening. She also enjoyed music, dancing and reading. Marlene believed life was to be enjoyed to the fullest. We would like to thank the staff of Cancer Care and of the 5th floor of St. Boniface Hospital for their compassion and kindness. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 19 at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens at 455 Lagimodiere at 2:00 p.m. There will be a viewing on Sunday, July 18 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send to Cancer Care St. Boniface.
