ERNEST (ERNIE) ALBERT DELF March 9, 1928 - July 13, 2004 Peacefully on Tuesday, July 13, 2004, Ernest Delf passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital. Ernie was predeceased by his father Albert and his mother Azile, sister Marjorie Henry and nephew Lawrence Henry. He will be lovingly remembered by his former wife and best friend Val Delf (Davies). Also by his children, David (special friend Eva), Philip (special friend Beatrice), Scott (Emilie), and Bradley; and grandchildren, Ashley, Shawn, Clinton and Jason. He will also be missed by brothers, Ken (Rosemary), Gordon (Margaret) and sister Muriel (Gordon) Seddon and aunt Muriel Sutton. Ernie was born in Winnipeg, MB. He was raised on a farm in the Indianford District northwest of Rathwell, MB. The family moved to Winnipeg in October 1944. Ernie graduated from Gordon Bell High School in 1947. After six years with CN Rail, he went to work for the Chicago and Northwestern Transportation. He was their District Sales Manager from January 1953 until they closed their office in August 1985. Ernie enjoyed curling, golf and playing cards. He was a member of the Elmhurst Golf and Country Club for 21 years. He was Past President and Life Member of the Fort Garry C.C., Past President and Life Member of the Past Presidents Association of Manitoba Curling Clubs, H.L.M. of the Manitoba Curling Association, Past President and Life Member of the Winnipeg Transportation Club, and Past President and Life Member of Imperial Legion Branch 84. Memorial service will be held at Meadowood Manor at 577 St. Anne's Rd. in the chapel area on Saturday, July 17 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Edward Hamm officiating. Private family interment will take place at a later date. The family would like to thank all nurses, doctors and staff who cared for our Dad at the St. Boniface Hospital during his lengthy illness. Grateful thanks especially to the S.I.C.U., 4th floor and 5B Wards. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Meadowood Manor and Personal Care Home, 577 St. Anne's Rd., R2M 5B2 or a charity of your choice. BRENDA LYNNE BATE (LOVESTRAND) Peacefully on August 11, 2003, Brenda Lynne Bate (Lovestrand) passed away in her sleep. She is survived by daughters, Sylvia Bate, Risa Caughlin (Chris), Rebecca Tataryn (Craig) and grandchildren, Aurora, Devlin and "Choo". Born May 16, 1943, in Kenora, ON to Bertha and Allan Lovestrand, she graduated as a Registered Nurse from the University of Toronto. Although a dedicated and compassionate nurse, she was happiest in her lifetime role as loving mother and grandmother. The family would like to thank her home care workers for their compassionate care through the years, the fifth floor staff of Victoria General Hospital, and the nurses at CancerCare Manitoba. A graveside ceremony will be conducted by Pastor Thomas J. Lurvey at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 15 at Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Highway #1 East at Navin, 222-3241. FELICIDAD SAYSON MENDOZA August 5, 1918 - June 6, 2001 Peacefully on Wednesday, June 6, 2001 in San Carlos City, Pangasinan, Philippines, Felicidad Mendoza, 82, passed away. Felicidad's memory will be forever cherished by her loving children, Pol (Marina), Josie (Abe), Sally (Eddie), Julie, Vicky (Lito), Freddie (Myrna), Tessie (Floyd), Charlie (Liza); grandchildren, Sheila and Tracy (Greg), Joseph (Michelle) and Jonas, Vladimir and Kevin, John, Mary Ann, Aileen and Leo, Reginald, Russell, Richmond, Rhea and Lorena, Lindsay and Cheryl, Vanessa and Christopher, Charles, Karsten, Monique and Chelsea; great-grandchildren, Marijade and Justin, Veniz, Dominick and Jovan. Her husband Juan Mendoza predeceased Felicidad. She came to Canada in 1977 to join some of her children in Winnipeg. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends whose lives she lovingly touched. Funeral services will be held in San Carlos City, Philippines on Saturday, June 16. GEORGE GADSBY

GEORGE GADSBY George Gadsby, beloved father of Michele and Christopher, passed away peacefully at the Bethany Care Centre, at the age of 79 years. George was born in Derbyshire, England on September 11, 1924, where he spent his childhood in a farming community. He served in the British Army during the Second World War, married Margaret (nee Sidaway) in 1946 and together they immigrated to Winnipeg, MB in 1957. In 1988, George moved to Duncan, BC where he spent many happy years as an active member of the British Canadian Club. He moved to Calgary in December, 2001 to be closer to his family. George will be dearly missed by his daughter Michele, son Christopher, daughter-in-law Michelle and grandchildren, Matthew and Evan. He is survived by his sisters, Hilda Howl and Phyllis Price, both residing in England. George was predeceased by his wife Margaret, in 1988 and his brother Bernard, in 2003. George was a well respected businessman, who worked as a senior member of the management team at Pritchard Engineering in Winnipeg for over 20 years. He was an avid gardener who could work miracles in even the most challenging climates. George also enjoyed working around the house, doing small repairs, as well as spending time with family and friends. The family would like to express thanks and appreciation to the kind and thoughtful staff of the Foothills Hospital and the Bethany Care Centre. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 16 at 2:30 p.m. at Parkdale United Church, 2919 - 8 Ave. N.W. ELIZABETH GAL

ELIZABETH GAL (nee SCHWING) Peacefully in the arms of her three daughters and family surrounding her, our mother passed into the waiting arms of Our Lord Jesus on July 13, 2004. Mom was born in Tolna-Mozs, Hungary on January 29, 1928. Due to circumstances of the Second World War, as a young woman she moved with her family to Germany. There she met and married her first husband Adolf Baumgart. In 1953 along with their infant daughter Kornelia, they immigrated to Canada to join family and became members of St. Anthony of Padua Hungarian R.C. Church. In 1958, they joyously welcomed another daughter Ingrid. Sadly, in 1962 Adolf passed away. In 1964, she married Imre Gal and they welcomed a daughter Cathy. Mom was predeceased by her first husband Adolf Baumgart; second husband Imre Gal; parents, Michael and Elizabeth Schwing. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Kornelia (Rod) Lake, Ingrid Kerger and Cathy Grahlman; brother Frank (Frieda) Schwing; sister Katharina (Anthony) Bencsics. She also leaves to mourn her precious grandsons, Michael, Robert Lake, Marcus, Richard Kerger and Joshua Grahlman. Elizabeth is survived by her two nieces, Christel and Carrie; their families and numerous other relatives and friends in Europe. Also going to miss mom are her beloved cats Sunny and BoBo. Mom's greatest joy was always her children, grandchildren and family. Mom gave unselfishly of everything she had but the greatest gift of all was the love she shared. Mom was an avid sewer and took great joy in sewing everything from dresses, Halloween costumes to Barbie clothes. Mom was employed for many years in the garment industry and retired from Nygard International. Her other passion was gardening. She was very proud of the many lilies and roses she grew. Mom was always cooking, baking and helping her family in any way she could. She touched the lives of many including her wonderful neighbours. The loss of our mother is immeasurable. The daughters and family wish to express heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff of N3W Concordia Hospital, especially Donna, Chris, Colleen and Grant. Many thanks to Dr. Pat Harris and her Oncology team, Carol, Val, Martie, Elaine and Cathy. Thanks to Dr. Duerksen for his care of our mom during her stay and homecare nurse Janelle. Prayers and Rosary will be held on Saturday, July 17, between 9:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Hungarian Roman Catholic Church, 365 Burnell St. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Stan Gacek officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Mom will be lovingly carried by Michael and Robert Lake, Marcus and Richard Kerger, Rod Lake, Tim Parkill and honorary pallbearer Joshua Grahlman. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Elizabeth's memory to CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of one's choice.
