THELMA JEAN BOWMAN Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Monday, June 28, 2004, Thelma Jean Bowman of Freshwater, Carbonear, NF, aged 77 years. Leaving to mourn, husband David, one daughter Kerry (Jack) Schafer, Red Deer AB; three sons, John (Diane), Burnaby, BC, Warren, Freshwater, Carbonear, NF and Robert (Bob Daley), Ottawa, ON; five grandchildren, Jamie, Matt, Daniel, Cameron and Mitchell; one brother Jack (Pat) Nightingale, Lion's Head, ON; one sister Mabel Smith, Burlington, ON; special friends, Eric and Dallas Parsons, Freshwater, Carbonear, NF; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Resting at Noel's Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear, NF until 12 Noon Thursday, July 1. Funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. from the United Church and Cemetery, Freshwater, Carbonear, NF. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. GEORGINA BROWNLEE 1921 - 2004 Peacefully, at Deer Lodge Centre on the morning of June 28, 2004, Georgina passed away at the age of 83 years. Prior to her retirement in 1986 Georgina was employed by Eatons for 41 years. She spent many happy summers at Lac Lu, ON where she loved to swim. She joined the Wrens during the Second World War and was still an active member. Memorial service will be held in the Worship Centre of Deer Lodge Centre, 2109 Portage Ave., Friday, July 2 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Georgina's honour to Deer Lodge Centre, 2109 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3. PATRICIA JEAN CARSON Peacefully at the Elisabeth Bruyere hospital on the 22nd of June, 2004 at the age of 79 after a long struggle with cancer. Pat will be dearly missed by her loving husband of 49 years, Glenn Carson. Cherished by her three sons and their wives, James (Iya), Alan (Agatha) and David (Tara Graves); and survived by her sisters, Lucille Maukwe and Mary MacMillan. Predeceased by her parents, William and Harriet Robertson; she will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. Her strength, kindness and irrepressible smile were an inspiration to all who knew her. A private interment will be held in Springfield, NS. In memoriam donations may be made to the Elisabeth Bruyere Hospital or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Prayers will be sung on Friday evening, July 2 in the Immaculate Conception Ukrainian Catholic Church, Cooks Creek, MB. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, July 3 also in the church. SHERMAN CLARK

M. SHERMAN CLARK M. Sherman Clark, well respected Grandview and area resident passed away on Saturday evening, June 26, 2004 at the age of 90 years. Sherman was predeceased by his beloved wife Maisie Hall (Brown) on July 20, 1998. Sherman was past Reeve and Councillor of the Rural Municipality of Grandview for a number of years. Sherman and Maisie operated an Illustration Farm Station in conjunction with the Federal Department of Agriculture for over 17 years. The station was utilized in testing different crop varieties under varying conditions. His community involvement and interests were varied - a past director of the United Grain Growers, a past member of the Oddfellows Lodge, a school trustee, past member of the Grandview Hospital Board and the Dauphin Health Group, a member of the Progressive Conservative Party, a past member of the Grandview-Gilbert Plains Fair Board, a past member of the Civil Defense Group and the Grandview-Gilbert Plains Weed Control Board, a member of the Gilbert Plains Golf and Country Club, a past member of the Grandview Curling Club. Born on November 22, 1913, to Marret Clark and Mary Jane Leitch (Tenbrooke) in the Mountain Gap District of Grandview. All his life was spent in Grandview and area with the exception of an earlier period when the Clark Family relocated to Mercedes, TX, U.S.A. Sherman and Maisie were united in marriage on November 16, 1936 at St. Paul's Anglican Church in Dauphin, MB. Their union was blessed with two children. In 1996, they celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary. Sherman and Maisie farmed for close to 40 years in the Duck Mountain District of Grandview. Besides his wife and parents, he was also predeceased by his son-in-law George A. Cox; a brother Melvin; a sister-in-law Marjorie McLean; five brothers-in-law, Bob Boughen, Glen McLean, Bert Topham, Woodrow Storey and Ron Hall. Sherman is survived by his daughter Sheila B. Cox of Selkirk, MB and his son Grant Clark of Calgary, AB; his grandson Greg (Denise) Cox of Winnipeg; his granddaughter Pam (Brent) Wall of Clandeboye; two great-grandchildren, Brittany and Andrew Cox of Winnipeg; three sisters, Ada Boughen of Dauphin, Ida Storey of Grandview and Ena and her husband Sam Leskiw of Brandon; three sisters-in-law, Marie Clark and Thora Topham of Grandview and Frances Hall of Kelowna, BC; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a large number of cousins throughout North America. An Anglican funeral service will be held on Friday, July 2 at 2:00 p.m. from the Grandview United Church. Rev. Paul Crossland and Rev. Ann Crossland will officiate and interment will follow in the Grandview Memorial Gardens. Friends who wish to pay their respects may do so one hour prior to the service. MILLICENT DONNELLY

MILLICENT ELIZABETH DONNELLY It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother on Sunday, June 27, 2004 at the Concordia Hospital. She was predeceased by her beloved husband W. Vern of 53 years; her parents, Henry and Dorothy; her devoted sister Audrey; and brother Stewart. She is survived by her sons, Richard, Brian (Kres), Lyle (Pat) and Paul-Sean; daughters, Marta (Jim) and Deirdre; brother Patrick; and sisters-in-law, Evelyn (Alec) and Iris; as well as her special granddaughter Asha Elizabeth; and many nieces and nephews. Born in Winnipeg, Millicent graduated from Kelvin High School and worked at Transcontinental Air until her marriage to Vern. They raised six children together where Millicent was Queen Bee of her family. She enjoyed gardening, reading current events, cooking, bike riding, Grand Beach, movies, ballet and debating issues. She was a big Blue Bomber fan and sports fan in general. She was wonderful to her neighbours and their children. Millicent was extremely active in Vern's career, Air Crew associations and Masonic Lodge. But most importantly she was involved with her children and their lives. She kept involved and loved her time with her family until her passing. She will be deeply missed. We would like to thank the staff at Concordia Hospital and Dr. Jerry Drexler for their care. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 2 at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., Aubrey Street entrance. IRMGARD EWERT (nee STEGINUS) It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Irmgard, our beloved wife, mom and Oma, on Saturday, June 26, 2004 at the Concordia Hospital at the age of 66 years. Irmgard will be greatly missed by her husband, Fred of 45 years of marriage; children, Doris, Albert, Helga, Grace and Carl; four grandchildren; four sisters; numerous nieces; nephews; relatives; and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; one sister; and one brother. Irmgard's funeral service will be held on Friday, July 2 at 10:00 a.m. in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Cross, 560 Arlington St. For those who wish, viewing will be held prior to her service. GLEN WILLIAM FINNEY Peacefully, on Sunday, June 27, 2004 Glen William Finney passed away at the age of 76. He is survived by his wife Alice; sons, Ken (Holly) of Kelowna BC, Gary (Tanis) of Winnipeg, Wayne (Angela) of Winnipeg; daughter Valerie (Wayne) of Winnipeg; and grandchildren, Teya and Colby, Tyler Colin and Kayla, Heather, Richelle Talia and Lauryn, and Shaylynn. He will be missed by Hank (Sandy) with son Larry of Stoney Creek, ON. Glen is also survived by his brother Dave; sisters, Isabelle Tonn and Ruth Kirkland. Dad was predeceased by his daughter Shelley; his parents, Richard and Mary-Ann; along with his brothers, Robert and John. Glen was born in Grass River, MB on November 24. Glen spent most of his working years in Thompson, MB where he worked underground and raised his family with Alice in the 1960s and 1970s. He loved country music, rural living, the prairies, the Rocky Mountains, and the railroad across the West. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 2 at 10:00 a.m. with viewing one half hour prior at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home with an interment and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations in Glen's name may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, Suite 200, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
