June 11, 2004
PATRICK A. J. METZGER It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patrick Alfred Joseph Metzger on June 8, 2004 after a short courageous fight against a vicious cancer. Patrick will be lovingly missed by his wife Gloria and their children, Justin, Sean and Katherine. Also mourning his loss are his sister Yolande (Dave) Gulowaty; his godson and nephew Ryan Gulowaty (Laurie Paulson) and nieces, Kristin (Bryan) Buchalter and Michelle (Jeremy) Thiessen; brothers-in-law, Rick (Lorian) Randall and Larry (Lisa) Randall, and Joseph, Jessica, Michael and Lindsay Randall, and Alix and Samuel Savard. He was predeceased by his parents Alfred and Helen Metzger; infant sister Marie-Rose and in-laws Bert and Marie Randall who were all waiting to welcome him in Heaven. Patrick was born in Mulhouse, France and came to Canada at the tender age of two. He was a man of strong convictions - "a what you see is what you get" - kind of guy. You always knew where you stood with Patrick, even if you didn't agree with him! He worked at several jobs over the years, meeting his wife Gloria while working at Vanguard Ind. They enjoyed almost 20 years together raising the kids and working for a better future. Patrick finally found his dream job in 1998 when he got his Class 1 license and began driving long-haul for Reimer Express. He loved the open road with miles to go and no-one looking over his shoulder! We will always see Patrick in the twinkle in Justin's eyes, in Sean's quick wit, and Daddy's little girl will never forget him or stop loving him. We beat the odds, honey, they said it would never last, but we did it! Till death do us part. Luv Ya! Prayers will be held on Friday, June 11 at 7:30 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 12 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Church, Munroe at Brazier, with Br.
