Eileen Morrow
July 31, 2003
EILEEN IMRIE MORROW On Tuesday, July 29, 2003 with her family at her side Eileen passed away with courage and dignity. Mom was born in 1920 in Chinook, AB. She lived most of her youth in Winnipeg and retained a special place in her heart for the city all of her life. Eileen married Roy George (deceased June 6, 2001) in 1944 and he remained the love of her life for 56 years. They raised their family and lived in Regina, Shilo and Winnipeg as a part of military life. Eileen and Roy retired to the home they had always wanted in Fort Frances, ON. They enjoyed 36 happy years there in the company of many excellent friends. Mom was a caring, loving person. She was known for her upbeat views, her smile and cheerful personality. Mom loved sports (especially her Goldeyes), music, playing cards with friends and delighted in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Every event was exciting for Mom - every birthday, every ball game, every visit was as much fun for her as the first one. She brought joy and excitement into all our lives. Eileen is survived by her daughter Lenore (Mitch); and her two sons, Alan (Nancy) and Rob (Wendy); grandchildren, Tamiko, Kathleen (Steve), Derek, Jeff (Heidi), Greg, Matthew and Amy; and great-grandchildren Carson and Kaitlyn. She was predeceased by her husband Roy; her parents, Christina and Rodger; and her brother Alan. The family would like to thank Dr. Prodan, Dr. Harris and all the staff at Grace General Hospital (5th Floor) and members of the Palliative Care Program for their exceptional care and compassion. If friends wish, donations in Eileen's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 31 at 3:00 p.m. in Charleswood United Church. Interment will take place in Fort Frances, ON. THOMSON Funeral Chapels - 669 Broadway - 783-7211
Alexander Nobess
July 31, 2003
ALEXANDER DAVID NOBESS April 23, 1919 - July 26, 2003 It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of our Uncle Alex. Uncle was born and raised in St. Laurent, MB, until he joined the Army in 1941. He served overseas for four years, during which time he became a Prisoner of War. He suffered long and hard during this time of his life, and we pray that he is never forgotten, for what he endured for his country. He returned home in 1945, with an honourable discharge, and many medals, for his heroic duty in the Second World War. After returning home, he worked on the family farm in St. Laurent, until he moved to Winnipeg, where he resided, and worked for the remainder of his life. Although Uncle never married, he considered ALL his nieces and nephews his children. You never had to ask twice for anything from Uncle. In addition to his family, Uncle loved music, and on many occasions, sang his old Army songs, and played his fiddle. Many of us learned to jig by that fiddle. Uncle will be greatly missed, as he was the last of an entire generation of our family. Alex was the youngest of 10 children, born to David and Rose Nobess. Prayers will be said on Thursday, July 31, 2003 at 7:00 p.m., with funeral service on Friday, August 1 at 11:30 a.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. Pallbearers will be Claude Garton, Emil (Boxer) Nobess, Rick Nobess, Dennis Scherban, Robert and Preston Brown. MAY GOD BLESS YOU UNCLE THOMSON Funeral Chapels - 669 Broadway - 783-7211
