PAMELA LEW (nee LAI PENG CHAN) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Pamela Lew on Friday, November 15, 2002 at the age of 57 years. She will be deeply missed by her husband Paul; daughter Brenda (Ingmar); son Darryl; mother Lao Kuai Ng; sister-in-law Lun Yun Chin; nephews, Sammy (Tammy and Laura), Albert (Samantha), James; brothers, Si Chan (Chun Ling and Irene) and Soi Chan. She also leaves much family in Macau, Hong Kong and Burma, including her mother-in-law, two sisters, a brother-in-law and their families. Pam was born in Rangoon, Burma, third eldest of eight children. She married Paul in 1971 and immigrated to Canada in the same year. They started a family and had two children, and also raised three nephews. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Pam was a fashion design enthusiast and a skilled sewer. She made clothes for the entire family. Pam worked for Perth's, Sears, Modern Headwear, Durapack, Visions Draperies, Creative Windows and Interior Touch. She enjoyed and took great pride in her work. A special thank you goes to all the staff of 3E at Riverview for the kindness and compassion that was extended to both Pam and her family. Thank you goes to homecare for allowing Pam to spend most of her last months at home. The family would also like to thank the staff of the fifth floor of Women's Hospital and at CancerCare Manitoba. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 20 at 1:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway with Pastor John Lee officiating. Interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery. LESLIE (LES) LOEWEN Passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2002 at St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit, aged 68. He is survived by his wife Margaret (nee Derksen), son Gord, grandchildren, Nicholas, Brenden, and Madison; and their mother Saneeta; three sisters, six brothers, one foster sister, and two sisters-in-law, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Les was predeceased by his parents, two brothers and one brother-in-law. Employed as a proofreader with Sanford Evans for 26 years, until 1991. He volunteered with C.N.I.B. and Deer Lodge Centre. He was a member of Manitoba Christian Writers Association and had several of his articles published. Les was devoted to his Saviour, family and church (St. James Gospel Chapel). Singing was very important to him - his deep low bass was always enjoyed and appreciated in quartets and congregational singing. Funeral service will be Friday, November 22 at 10:30 a.m. at Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Dr., Winnipeg. Interment at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Viewing at Klassen Funeral Chapel, Thursday, November 21 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., 1897 Henderson Hwy. and at the church prior to service. Memorial donations may be made to Faith Bible Camp. IVY LYON Peacefully, on November 15, 2002 at the Victoria General Hospital, Ivy Lyon passed away at the age of 92 years. Ivy was predeceased by her husband James. She is survived by three sons, David (Edith), Victor all of Winnipeg, and Bob (Bev) of British Columbia; grandchildren, Sean and Andrew of Winnipeg, Stacey (Sheldon) of British Columbia, and Teresa (Aaron) of Calgary; and great-grandson Jessie of Calgary. Elle laisse dans le deuil son epoux devoue Maurice de 34 ans, leurs enfants, Marcel (Hildi) et Pierre, et petits-enfants special Justin et Celina. Elle laisse aussi ses soeurs et freres, Annette (Roger Dupas), Claude (Ada), Lea Thibert, Gilbert, Rose-Marie (Leo Delorme), Rose-Aimee (Edward Cure), Roland (Lucille), Gerald (Doris), belles soeurs Doreen et Jocelyn Guenette, ainsi que sa belle soeur Rachel (Hector St. Pierre), beau frere Clement (Peggy), aussi plusieurs neveux, nieces et amis. Elle fut precedee par ses parents, Alfred et Flore Guenette, soeurs Juliette et epoux Don Delorme, Lynne et epoux Claude Poirier, freres Robert, George et Richard, beau frere Eddy Thibert. MICHAYLO (MIKE) MANELUK On Sunday, November 17, 2002 with his family at his side, Mike Maneluk, aged 89 years, peacefully passed away. Mike was predeceased by his wife Stephania in 1986. Left to cherish his memory are his son George (Velma), three grandchildren, George Jr. (Lena), Kristen (Daryle) and Mike (Christine); two great-grandchildren, Marcus and Meghan. Mike was born in Ukraine and came to Canada in 1950. He was a fur dresser by trade, employed at D. Cohn/Trans-Canada for 25 years. Mike was a past member of Institute Prosvita where he spent many hours volunteering his time at Friday night bingo. He enjoyed fishing with his family and close buddies and spent many hours of his retired life puttering around his house and yard. STANLEY THOMAS MICKALL Peacefully on Friday, November 15, 2002, at the Grace General Hospital, Stanley Mickall passed away at the age of 87 years. Stanley was predeceased by his parents, John and Annie; and his sister Jean. Stanley is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years Kathryn; his two daughters, Diana Whiting (Richard) of Toronto and Jo-Anne Mickall; grandsons, Jason, Jared and Scott; granddaughter Morgan; his sister Kathleen; and brother William. Dad was born in Winnipeg and moved with his family to Sidney, MB and later to Carberry, MB. He served in the Naval Branch of the Canadian Armed Forces during the Second World War, and upon discharge, he entered the trade field of plumbing. He worked for different companies and lastly as a troubleshooter for the federal government on many Northern Manitoba communities. Upon retirement, Dad continued to do the things he loved best, gardening, the summer cottage at Betula Lake for the last 45 years, seeing his grandchildren grow up and travelling on winter holidays with Kathryn. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 21, at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. Interment at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens with reception to follow. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses of the ICU unit of the Grace Hospital for their excellent care given to Stanley.
