IRIS RHODA HARRIS On November 16, 2002 at the Seven Oaks Hospital Iris went to be with her Lord and Saviour. She was predeceased by her parents in 1962 and 1963 and a sister Winnifred on June 1, 1912 and a sister Phyllis on June 7, 2002. She is survived by her sister Edna, Ivy Young, nephew Dave (Carol) Young and great-niece Ashley and cousins. She was born in North Kildonan on April 29, 1913 and lived all her life in Winnipeg. She was employed at the Hudson Bay Company, Northern Stores Division. After retirement she worked as a volunteer visitor for the Age and Opportunity Centre and at the Canadian Sunday School Mission for a number of years. She attended Bethesda Church from the time it was organized in 1944. We would like to express our thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Seven Oaks Hospital for all their care and kindness. Funeral service will be held at the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Ave. on Thursday, November 21 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Bill Ehlers of Bethesda church officiating. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Union Gospel Mission or the Canadian Sunday School Mission. MARGARET LYNNE JOHNSON Suddenly, on Saturday, November 16, 2002, aged 68 years. Predeceased by her parents, Bruce and Anne Shaw. Mourned by her sons, Bruce and Neil (Mary); and by her beloved grandchildren, Shea and Catharyne. Sadly missed by her sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and Bruce Briggs; "sister" Margaret Hirschfield (Ozzie); nieces, Andrea Esson, Nancy Esson (John Kitchen), Gillian Esson (Marvin Tansley), and Sarah Briggs; and nephews, Iain Esson and Andrew Briggs. Also remembered by her great-nephews, Neil and Simon Ashby and Wilfrid Tansley; and great-nieces, Taryn Ashby, Zoe, Emma, Sophie and Harriet Kitchen, and Eleanor, Antoinette and Liliane Tansley. Lynne was born in London, ON, grew up in Winnipeg, and lived in Toronto, Montreal, New Canaan, CT, New York City, Sarasota, and Atlanta, GA. She graduated as a nurse from The Children's Hospital in Winnipeg (1954), and earned a B.A. at Marymount College in New York City (1987). She had a special talent for transforming a house into a beautiful and gracious home. Funeral in Atlanta on Wednesday, November 20. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lynne's memory to the Mabel House Art Alliance, 5239 Floyd Rd., Mableton, GA 30126, would be much appreciated by the family.

MRS. MARY KASCHYSHYN (WILLIAM) June 29, 1918 - November 15, 2002 Quietly on November 15, 2002 Mary passed away peacefully after a short stay at her new home at St. Joseph's Residence in Winnipeg, previously being cared for by Goodwin Lodge in Teulon, MB. Mary and her family emmigrated from Germany in September of 1953. Mary resided in the community of Stonewall, MB until their retirement in the mid 1980s when they moved to Teulon, MB. Survived by her son Stanley Widerski and stepdaughter Diane Scott (Dennis). Daughter-in-law Carol Widerski; and two grandsons, Douglas (Jennifer) Widerski and Steven (Gloria) Widerski. Two step-grandsons, Timothy and Derek Scott. Two special great-grandchildren, Daniel and Carolyn Widerski. Predeceased by William Kaschyshyn in 1994 and Joseph Widerski in 1955. The family would like to say a very special thanks to staff at Goodwin Lodge for all their care over the years, and St. Joseph's Residence for giving Mary a warm welcome to her short stay at her new home. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 21, at 10:00 a.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Fr. Stan Gacek will officiate with interment to follow at the Stonewall Cemetery. PATRICIA GAIL KLEIN April 17, 1940 - November 16, 2002 Peacefully after a brief illness, Pat passed away at the age of 62 with her beloved family by her side. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Abe of 46 years, five beloved children, Shirley (Bernie), Cindy (Blaine), Sherry (Darrell), Gary (Jackie) and Larry (Lynette); nine precious grandchildren, Melissa (Myles), Shauna (Jeff), Erin, Dustin, Kyle, Lance, Carley, Mitchell and Harley; two precious great-grandchildren, Raynee and Madison; and special foster daughter Jasmine. Sisters, Rhoda and Karen; brother Bill (Louise) and their families. Numerous family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Hugh (Johnny) and Kathleen Kirton; sister Lynda Kirton; and brother Johnny. Pat will be remembered for her kindness and devotion to her family and all those she held dear to her. To know Pat was gift in itself. She was very proud of all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. We were all her favourite. Pat and her husband spent many years extending their love of family by taking in foster children and loving them as their own. The family extends a special thank you to the wonderful nursing and medical staff at the Selkirk and District General Hospital for their loving and compassionate care. Her pallbearers will be Darrell Kirton, Shane Kirton, Karl Gugenheimer, Sig Verleigh, Matt Klein and Cliff Perry. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Kirton and Charlie Kirton. Funeral services will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, 350 Gilmore Ave., Winnipeg on Thursday, November 21 at 10:30 a.m. Interment at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. STELLA KOHUT (nee LASKO) On Saturday, November 16, 2002, at the Seven Oaks Hospital in Winnipeg, Stella Kohut, nee Lasko, passed into her eternal rest at the age of 77 years. Stella was predeceased by her husband Peter S. Kohut on December 10, 1997; one sister Mary; and five brothers, Bill, George, Alexander, John and Jim. Left to mourn her passing are her son Ernie and wife Lesley of Winnipeg; three grand-children; and one great-grandchild; as well as two sisters, Elsie and Ethel; and three brothers, Mike, Peter and Joe; as well as many relatives and friends. Stella was born in Wawka, SK, to Alex and Martha Lasko, and spent much of her life in the Roseau River and Stuartburn area before moving to the Fred Douglas Lodge in Winnipeg. Prayers will be said on Thursday, November 21, 7:00 p.m. at Loewen Funeral Chapel in Steinbach. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 22, 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church at Stuartburn with Rev. Fr. Ihor Royik officiating. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service will be Eugene Bielkowski, Melvin Lichynski, Fred Slobodian, Darren Slobodian, Greg Kitching and Collin Kitching. SUZANNE G. LAFRENIERE (nee COUTURE) Suddenly on November 16, 2002, Suzanne passed away at the age of 73 years. She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Jean B. (John) LaFreniere; four children, Gisele and Jaro Drexler, George and Nicole LaFreniere, Leo LaFreniere and Shelly Wiebe, Roland and Corinne LaFreniere; 11 grandchildren; siblings, Germaine LaFleur, Evariste Couture (Angele), and Rita Ryckenboer (Al); a very dear friend Ruby; brothers and sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, eight brothers and sisters. Suzanne was loved and respected by her family and many friends who will miss her dearly. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, November 20, at 7:00 p.m. at l'eglise du Precieux Sang, 200, rue Kenny. FREDERICK JOHN JAMES LANG It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father Frederick John James Lang, at the Grace Hospital on November 15, 2002. He was predeceased by his wife Laura Lang and his grandson Ronnie Sigouin. Fred is survived by four children, Frederick (Joyce) Lang of Victoria, BC, Kathleen (Sam) Zaik of Winnipeg, Audrey Sigouin of Winnipeg, and Jean (Allan) Glougie of Nanaimo, BC; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister Kathleen Thorsteinson; and his niece Joyce Gray. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Fred prided himself on living independently for as long as he was able. Fred enjoyed deep discussions on history and current affairs of the world. Many of these discussions were held with the gang in the lobby at the Eastern Star, where he resided until January of 2002, when ill health forced him to move to Tuxedo Villa. Viewing will be held at 1:30 p.m. and funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 637 Buckingham Rd., on Thursday, November 21. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
