Nestor Meyer

January 26, 2002

NESTOR FELIX DE MEYER February 19, 1907 - January 24, 2002 It is with deepest sorrow the family announces the passing of our beloved husband and father, Nestor De Meyer, peacefully and surrounded by his family on January 24, 2002 at the age of 94 at the Victoria Hospital following a brief illness. Dad was predeceased by parents, Oscar and Maria (Thienpond), his brothers, Lucien, Gilbert and Albert, and sister Angela (Wilbur) Van Walleghem. Nestor is survived by his most loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Germaine, his daughters, Doreen (Joe) Dusik, Bernice (Phil) Reimer, Linda (Pierre) Dalrymple and son Robert (Kathy), nine grandchildren, Darren (Wendy), Brad (Tammy) and Kerry (Kathy) Dusik; Kevin (Karen) Reimer and Debbie (Dave) Burke, Donna (Dan) Burky and Mark De Meyer; Michael and Steven Dalrymple; 13 great-grandchildren, Jordan, Justin, Tess, Brendan, Tiffany and Bryce Dusik; Owen and Sarah Reimer, Brent and Bailey Burke; Melissa, Amanda and Jeremy Burky. Also survived by his brother Gerry (Leva), sisters, Agnes (George) Knockaert, Lucresse (George) Deneweth, Susie (Charlie) De Meyer and sisters-in-law, Irene (Albert) De Meyer and Margaret (Gilbert) De Meyer. Dad was born in Borsbeke, East Flanders, Belgium and came to Canada in 1921 where he farmed with his family on the Red Rose Dairy in Tuxedo. He married Germaine Deneweth on April 25, 1936 and started the Fort Rouge Dairy in 1938 in Fort Garry. In 1961 they moved to Oak Bluff and operated under the name of Perimeter Dairy until his retirement from a life of hard work in 1966. He and Mom then traveled extensively, visiting his birthplace in Belgium and many relatives in Canada and the U.S.A. Dad was a lifetime member of the Belgian Club and enjoyed many Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights of Belgian bolling and games of bien at the Club. He was a founding member of the Fort Garry/Tuxedo Belgian Bolling Club and was part of a large group of volunteers who were instrumental in the inception of Kermis Week in 1967. He enjoyed participating in the tournaments during Kermis and won many trophies in various events. At the age of 93, he was the oldest member to participate and won a prize in the 2001 Kermis bien tournament. He instilled the love of playing cards in all his children and took great pleasure, up to the end, in his daily card games with Mom and Doreen. He was available anytime for a game of cards. Dad was well respected and well liked among his peers for his integrity and honesty and will also be remembered for his wonderful sense of humour. Dad found great pleasure in his visits with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren telling them stories about the old days and listening to all their stories. He was a great inspiration to all of us and to all who knew him. He loved his gardening and yard work. You could find him mowing the grass with his lawn tractor most days during the summer. In the long winters he kept busy in his basement woodworking shop, making bird houses and lawn ornaments that Mom would design and his daughters would paint. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 28 at 11:00 a.m. with viewing at 10:30 a.m. in St. Vital Catholic Church, 1629 Pembina Hwy. Interment will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Nestor to the charity of your choice. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Simkin for her excellent care and dedication and to the Victoria General Hospital Staff, Rev. Fr. P. Morand, as well as all the home care workers, especially Shirley and Lucille, who allowed him to live at home until January 14, 2002. "WE'LL MISS YOU PAPA" GREEN ACRES FUNERAL CHAPEL 222-3241

Henry Mynard

January 26, 2002

HENRY MYNARD It is with great sadness that we learn of the passing of our dear friend Henry Mynard. He brought great joy to us, his friends in England. We will miss his happy, youthful voice on the telephone. And his sense of fun. His long loneliness after the death of his dear wife Lilly was eased by his good friends, the Vanderput Family for which we are grateful. Henry and Lilly are together now. May our dear Lord hold them safe in His loving care. We will never forget you, dear Henry and will keep you ever in our prayers. - Elisabeth and Joyce Ashton.
