Della C. Quann
14/02/1934 - 18/01/2010

Moncton - It is with deep sadness that the family of Della Quann, of Moncton, shares the news that she passed away peacefully at home with family at her side on Monday, January 18, 2010.

Born in 1934 in Chatham NB, Della was the daughter of the late Elizabeth (Flynn) Daley and Hugh Daley of St. Margaret’s.

Della was a loving and devoted wife, gifted mother and sister, adoring grandmother and dedicated nurse. Wise and patient, she took great interest in world events. She loved music, was very well read and eager to lead family discussions on the latest books short-listed for literary awards. Della was an avid gardener, an animal and nature lover who also delighted in star-gazing and was intrigued by the cycles of the moon. Her home was always a welcome place for extended family and friends to drop in or gather to enjoy scrumptious home-cooked meals and snacks or to catch up on the latest news. Her homemade bread could not be rivaled and many a person counted themselves blessed to receive a loaf as a gift. Always talented and devoted to knitting and sewing creations for her loved ones, she later learned the art of quilting and was able to produce treasured masterpieces for each of her ten grandchildren.

During her full professional career as a nurse, Della was compassionate to all, highly respected and appreciated as a supervisor and her work ethic was an example to many who knew her.

Della was selfless and made huge sacrifices for others in her life. A prouder and more doting grandmother could not be found.

She will be sadly missed by her husband of 50 years, Jack; her son Derek (Jocelyne) and grandchildren Sarah and Elyse; her daughter Kelly (Henry) and grandchildren Jordan, Alex, Christopher and Erin; her daughter Tracy (Karl) and grandchildren Logan and Jacob; son Darren (Sandra) and grandchildren Allison and Daniel; sisters Myrtle Burley (Arthur), Edna Daley-Landry (Reginald), Ethel Arsenault (Al); brothers Steve (Edith), Everett (Jacqueline); two generations of nieces and nephews; cherished friends and colleagues at the Moncton City Hospital and countless neighbours whose lives she touched. The youngest in her family, Della was predeceased by sisters Gertrude and Theresa and brother Laurie.

We love her, miss her and know she is in a better place.

Visitation will be held at Passage Moncton, 625 Mountain Rd (855-1145) on Thursday, January 21st from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Bernard RC Church on Friday, January 22nd at 10am. No visitation on Friday morning.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital or donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
