John Wry Welling

Shediac Cape, NB – John Wry Welling, 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, November 15th, at the Moncton City Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Shediac Cape on January 2, 1935, he was the son of the late George L. and Winnie (Murray) Welling.
He is survived by his wife, Nora (Wood) Welling; three sons, Christopher John Welling (Amy Fyfe) of Brookfield, NS, Stephen George Welling (Annabel Hayes) and Lloyd Norman Welling both of Shediac Cape; one daughter, Marion Welling of Shediac Cape; two brothers, Arnold Welling (Joy) and Leonard Welling (Norma) both of Shediac Cape; one sister Jean Murray (Ross) of Bateman’s Mill; two grandchildren, Benjamin and Matthew.
John was predeceased by two brothers, Lionel and Charlie; three sisters, Eula, Ruth, Edith; and two infant grandchildren, Thomas and Caleb.
There will be no visitation as requested by the family. The service will take place at St-Martin’s-in-the-Woods Anglican Church in Shediac Cape on Tuesday, November 18th at 2PM. A reception will follow in the Young Smith Hall after the funeral.
Donations to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital, St-Martin’s-in-the-Woods Memorial Funds or donors’ choice would be appreciated by the family.

Shediac River – Aurore Goguen, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Newburyport, Mass on May 30, 1920, she was the daughter of the late John and Emilie (Després) Arsenault.
Aurore is survived by four sons, Réal and Léonard (Bernette) both of Cocagne, Jean-Paul (Odette) of Shediac River, Antoine (Thérèse) of Grande-Digue; four daughters, Jeannita of Shediac River, Murielle (Ronnie) of Ste-Marie-de-Kent, Anne-Marie (Claude) of Edmonton, AB, Annette of St-Antoine; four brothers, Aldérice (late Eva) of Newburyport, Mass, Léonard (Diana) and Robert (Beverly) both of Shediac, Roméo (Lilianne) of Shediac River; four sisters, Florence (late Omer) of Moncton, Fernande (late Jude) of Shediac, Juliette (late Ola) of Shediac River, Dorilla (Donald) of Cap-Pelé; eighteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley, one brother, Roger and two sisters, Jeannette and Sara.
Resting at Passage Funeral Co-operative, 3754, Rte 134 in Shediac Bridge, visitation will be on Friday, May 8th from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm, and on Saturday, May 9th from 9:30 till 10:30 am. Funeral Mass will take place at La Visitation RC Church in Grande-Digue on Saturday, May 9th at 11 am.
Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Rodrigue Poirier

Shediac Bridge – Rodrigue Poirier, 61, passed away suddenly at the St-John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, May 26, 2009.
Born in Grande-Digue on October 21, 1947, he was the son of the late Léonce and Maria Poirier.
Rodrigue was self-employed. He owned a Harvey’s franchise on Mountain Road in Moncton for 27 years. He also was the owner of the Evangeline Variety store since 1991.
Rodrigue will sadly be missed by his wife, Dolores; his son Rodrigue (Stéphanie) of Dieppe; his daughter, Monique Chiasson (Marco) of Bathurst; two brothers, Robert (Cécile) of Shediac, Alcide of Ontario; two sisters, Anne-Marie Babineau (Jerry) of Shediac Bridge, Lucille Bourque (Edwin) of Cocagne; one sister-in-law, Ginette Poirier (Pitre) of Shediac Bridge; two grandchildren, Eve and Samuel; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one brother, Jean-Paul.
Visitation at Passage Funeral Co-operative in Shediac Bridge will take place on Thursday, May 28, from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9 pm., also on Friday, May 29 from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Funeral service will be held on Friday at the La Visitation Roman Catholic Church in Grande-Digue at 11 am.
Donations to the Diabetes Association, Fond Bourse de la famille Poirier or donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Gilbert (Barire) Rody

Shediac Cape - Gilbert (Barrie) Rody 87, of Shediac Bridge passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday July 4, 2009. Born in Winnipeg MB, on October 23, 1921, he was the son of the late Phillip and Elizabeth (Grasser) Rody.
Barrie was a retired Chief Warrant Officer of the R.C.A.F. with the Special Investigations Unit of the Military Police and served his country proudly with 38 years of service, he was past president and treasurer of the Royal Canadian Legion, Shediac Branch.
He will be sadly missed by his sons who followed their father’s example by also serving their country on a military level, Barrie (Melva), Greenwood, NS, Patrick (Therese), Cocagne, Michael (Jill), Campbell River, BC, Phillip, Shediac Bridge; sister Phyllis Knapper, Moncton; grandchildren, Patricia, Valerie, Barrie, Mary, Beth, Andrew, Michael and Patrick, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Barrie was also predeceased by his wife Mary (Mazerolle), 2002, brother Herb, sisters Roxy and Chuck.
No visitation by personal request. Funeral Mass to be held on Tuesday July 7, 2009, 11am at Paroisse de la Visitation in Grande-Digue, Father Jean Bourque officiating. Reception following the service. Interment in Grande-Digue cemetery. In Barrie’s memory donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

Shediac River – Jean Maillet, 86, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont surrounded by his loving family on Monday, February 22, 2010 after a lengthy illness.
Born in Ste-Marie-de-Kent on March 22, 1923, he was the son of the late Antoine & Imelda (Poirier) Maillet.
Jean is survived by his wife, Rosemonde (Rose); four sons, Paul (Janice) of Tennessee, US, Antoine (Anne) of New Hampshire, US, Roger (Claudette) and Fernand (Marguerite) both of Shediac River; one daughter Ginette Brine (Gilles) of Shediac; one brother, Georges (Alfreda) of Ste-Marie-de-Kent; two sisters, Rev. Sister Sara Maillet of Bathurst, Antoinette Dallaire (Late Paul) of Maynard, Mass., US; thirteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Lorraine (2003) and one brother, Henri.
Visitation will be held at Passage, 3754 Rte 134, Shediac Bridge on Thursday, February 25th from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. No visit on Friday. Funeral mass will be celebrated at La Visitation RC Church in Grande-Digue on Friday, February 26th at 11 am.

Shediac Bridge – Joseph A. Leger, 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Moncton Veterans Health Centre on Sunday, October 31, 2010.
Born in Middle Sackville, NB on August 12, 1917, he was the son of the late Ferdinand and Délima (LeBlanc) Leger. He lived most of his adult life in Shediac Bridge and belonged to the Grande-Digue Parish until 1994. Jos served overseas for five years during the Second World War in the Royal Canadian Engineer Corps and was a former member of the Canadian Legion in Shediac.
Jos leaves his loving wife, Alice (Fougère); two daughters, Linda LeBlanc (André), Helen Leger (Wendell White), three foster children: Maria Goguen, Jeanine Aldsworth (Ron), and Rita Cormier; one sister, Diana Gallant (late Amédée); three grandchildren, Joey, Marc and Luc (Joanie).
He was predeceased by one foster child, Thérèse; three sisters, Anita, Marguerite, Marie; and six brothers, Ernie, Amédée, Alban, Philippe, Leon and Tilmon.
Visitations will be held at Passage in Shediac Bridge on Tuesday, November 2nd from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 3rd at La Visitation RC Church in Grande-Digue at 11 am. No visitations on Wednesday morning.
Donations to the Salvation Army or War Amputees of Canada would be appreciated by the family.

Born in Petit-Rocher on April 17, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Hélène (Comeau) Doucet.
Eulalie will sadly be missed by her daughter, Colette Bonsant (Guy) of Haute-Aboujagane; her son, Alphonse LeGresley of Shediac Bridge; four grandchildren, Marc and Luc Bonsant, Caroline and Melissa LeGresley; seven great grandchildren, Shawn, Anika, David, William, Philippe, Isabelle and Gabriel; two sisters, Estelle Rioux (Engelbert) and Doris Beaumier (André) both of Longueuil, QC; also brothers and sisters-in-law, Josephine and Nelson Bujold of Grand-Anse, Yvonne and Robert Martin of Ottawa, Patricia Doucet (late Gilbert) of Petit-Rocher and Blanche LeGresley (late Léandre) of Moncton.
She was predeceased by her husband, Léonard; four sisters, Lorraine, Lydia, Régina, Maria; one brother, Gilbert and two infant sisters, Blanche and Marie-Thérèse.
Visitations will be held at Passage in Shediac Bridge on Wednesday, August 25, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm and on Thursday, August 26, from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 26 at La Visitation RC Church in Grande-Digue at 11 am.

Born in St. John, NB on January 4th, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Willie Fougère and Edna (Bernard) Fougère.
Carol will sadly be missed by her husband, Joseph Alonzo Goguen; two daughters, Charlene Goguen (Basil Petitpas) of Halifax, Lisa Costa (Odilon) of Millford, Mass.; one son, James Goguen (Josée Laplante) of Barachois; mother, Edna Fougère of Shediac; one sister, Diane LeBlanc (William) of Shediac Bridge; five grandchildren, Jacqueline Petitpas, Juliana, Dillon and Ella Costa, and Rosalie Goguen.
Visitations will be held at Passage in Shediac Bridge on Wednesday, September 1st, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated at La Visitation RC Church in Grande-Digue on Thursday, September 2nd at 11 am. No visitations on Thursday.
