Joseph Henry Cormier

1920 -- 2003

The death of Joseph Henry Cormier, 82 years, husband of Anita of Moncton occurred at the Moncton Hospital on Monday January 27th after a short illness. Henry was born in Moncton on October 2, 1920 he was the son of the late Martin and Melanie (Pellerin) Cormier. He was a carpenter by trade. He served in the Army in Canada during World War II from 1941 to 1945 in the R.C.E.M.E. He is survived by his wife Anita (Lirette) Cormier, one son Bill Mintern (Wanda) , grandson Matthew Mintern, granddaughter Melissa Mintern all of Saint John, NB Step daughter Linda Melanson (Louis), step son Robert LeBlanc (Norma) all of Moncton step grandsons Michel, Marc Melanson, step granddaughter Stephanie LeBlanc of Calgary, AB, sisters Betty Terrasi (Joe) and Dorothy Melanson (late Roger) all of El Cajon, CA, brother John Cormier (Mary) of Victoria, BC and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by two brothers Leo in 1975 and George in 1997.

By request there will not be any visiting hours prior to the Memorial Service which will be held on Friday January 31, 2003 at 2 pm in Fair Haven Funeral Home Chapel (852-3530) 1177 Salisbury Rd. Moncton with a reception to follow in the Family Reception Room of Fair Haven Funeral Home. Interment will be in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made to the Canadian Kidney Foundation or the Friends of the Moncton Hospital.

Rita M. Daigle

Rita M. Daigle wife of François (Frank) of Trueman Ave Moncton passed away at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital on Monday February 10th 2003 following a lengthily battle with cancer. Born in Leger's Corner (now Dieppe) August 4th 1924 she was the daughter of the late Alphee and Cecile (LeClair) Blaquiere Prior to her retirement Mrs. Daigle taught school for 28 years in various schools though out south eastern New Brunswick. She was a member of the New Brunswick Retired Teachers Association and Christ the King Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling the world with her loving husband.

Rita is survived by her husband of 54 years Francois, daughters, Annette Albert (Bill) of Grand Bay-Westfield, Louise Stevens (Don) of Victoria BC, sons Guy Bernard Daigle (Kathy) of Montreal, Jean Marc Daigle (Line) of Chelsea, PQ., her sister Dora Sitter of Kelowna BC., Grandchildren Chantal, Michel, Elise, Patrick, Nadine, Colin, Paul, and Marie Michelle as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by four brothers Eric, Marc, Willie and Frank; two sisters Yvonne and Stella.

In keeping with Rita's wishes there will not be any visiting hours. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday February 13th at 11 am at Christ the King Church, Moncton, with a reception to follow in the Golden Age Club. Donations in Mrs. Daigle's memory may be made to the Oncology Department of the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Fair Haven Funeral Home (852-3530) 1177 Salisbury Road Moncton.

Amadio Gri

The death of Amadio Gri, husband of Marianne, of Stoney Creek occurred at the Moncton Hospital on Sunday January 19th 2003. Born April 3, 1931 in Italy he was the son of the late Giovanni and Amelia (Avalido) Gri. Amadio immigrated to Canada in 1951 and was employed for many years as a tile setter and retired from Saint John Tile after many years of service. A devote family man he loved working with his hands and building things. He was also an accomplished accordion player. He had attended St Bernard's Roman Catholic Church. In addition to his wife, Marianne, he is survived by his sons John (Sherry) of Hillsborough, Carm
(Kristen) of Turtle Creek, Lorenzo (Marilyn) of Salisbury; his daughter Lisa (Kenny) Bourque of Shediac; grandchildren Jordan; Karah; Josh, and Madison. One sister Antoinette (Giovanni) Pitton of Italy and one brother Gino of Montreal as well as several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service, to celebrate Amadio's life, will be held Wednesday January 22 at 2 pm in Fair Haven Funeral Home Chapel (852-3530) 1177 Salisbury Road Moncton with a reception to follow in the Family Reception Room of Fair Haven Funeral Home. Interment will be in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens. Flowers are gratefully declined however memorial donations in Amadio's name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. The family would like to offer special thanks to Dr. Landry and the staff of the Moncton Hospital who cared for Mr. Gri during his time there.

Carloine M. Groves

The death of Carloine M. Groves, wife of Barrie Groves, of Lower Coverdale occurred at the Moncton Hospital on Tuesday July 15th 2003 following a brief illness.

Born in Lakeburn she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Marie (Lirette) Smith. Carloine had been employed with the Moncton Times Transcript prior to her early retirement. She loved reading, gardening, embroidery and spending time with her dogs.

In addition to her husband, Barrie, she is survived by two sisters Phyllis (Peter) Schmitz of Germany; Barbara Smith; four brothers Wallace (Noella), Wayne (Theresa); Allan (Sylvia); Ralph (Gail) and all of Moncton and many nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by her mother in law Florence Ida Groves (the late Wilfred Groves) of Bonavista, NL.

By request there will not be any visiting hours prior to her Memorial Service which will be held on Friday July 18th at 3 pm in Fair Haven Funeral Home Chapel followed by a gathering of friends and family which will take place in the Family Reception Room of the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fair Haven Funeral Home(852-3530) 1177 Salisbury Road Moncton.

William (Bill) J. Adams

October 5, 1912 - July 17, 2003

Bill Adams, 90, formerly of Waverley Ave, Moncton passed away peacefully at the Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home on Thursday, July 17, 2003.

Born in Lewisville, on October 15th, 1912, he was the son of the late William J. and Maria (Jackson) Adams.

Bill retired from the CN after 36 years in 1976. He was a lifetime member of International Association of Machinists and the Moncton Lions Senior Citizens.

He attended Mountain View United Church and was an active member of the choir for many years. He had a great love of music and pursued his love in many ways by playing in the senior's band and singing with the Barbershop Quartet, as well as the Moncton District City Band. He will always be remembered for his great sense of humor.

Bill is survived by his children Anne (Ed) Perry, Jack (Francis) Adams, Gary (Ruth) Adams, Nancy (Del) Mazerolle, David (Joyce) Adams, Kathy (Dale) Babcock; Stephen (Donna) Adams, Cindy (Paul) Lueken; sister Elsie Kemmer of Saskatchewan, 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Bill was predeceased by his wife Kathryn (Kay) Adams in 2002.

By request there will not be any visitation prior to the Memorial Service to be held in the Chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home, on Monday July 21, at 2 PM.

There will be a gathering of family and friends in the Family Reception Room of the Funeral Home, immediately following the service. Interment in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens.

If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of choice.

George D. Murray

The death of George D. Murray, 78 years, husband of Lois (MacDonald) Murray, of Grande Digue occurred at the Dr. Georges Dumont Hospital, Moncton on Monday July 21st 2003.

Born in Moncton he was the son of the late Stanley and Daisy (Anderson) Murray.

Mr. Murray had been employed with Canadian Liquid Air retiring as Branch Manager after many years of service. A veteran of the Second World War he served overseas with the Canadian Armed Forces. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Moncton Branch #6 where he was Past President and also served in many offices.

He was a Past District Commander of the Westmorland Albert District of the Royal Canadian Legion. George and Lois celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on June 28th of this year.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his children Bruce (Pam) of Grande Digue; Karen (Rick) Long of Moncton; Janice(Jerry) Petitpas of Ontario and Scott (Linda) of Moncton as well as five grandchildren; two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sister Doris Carroll, and his grand daughter Kelly Long.

By request their will not be any visiting hours prior to a Legion Service which will be conducted by officers and members of the Royal Canadian Legion on Thursday July 24th at 2 pm in the chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home 1177 Salisbury Road Moncton.

Cremation and interment will take place in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Fair Haven Funeral Home (852-3530)

Dismas Arsenault

The death of Dismas Arsenault, 61 years, husband of Georgette (Leger) Arsenault of Petit Cape occurred accidentally at his residence on Friday July 25th.

Born June 29th 1942 in Cape Pele he was the son of the late Antoine and Margarite (Comeau) Arsenault. A life long resident of the Cape Pele area he had been for most of his life a self employed businessman.

In addition to his wife Georgette he is survived by his brother and sisters, Neri (Yvonne) of Shediac; Leonie of BC; Juliette Strang (Raymond) of BC; Francis (Cordelia) of Shediac; Eugenie of Montreal; Celestina of Montreal; Leona of Shediac; Gerald of Toronto and Normand also of Toronto as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sisters Bernadette and Eugenie and one brother Alcide.

By request of the family there will not be any visitation or public memorial service. A private family service will be held in the Chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home. Cremation and in-nichment will be in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made to the memorial of the donor's choice. Arrangement are under the direction of Fair Haven Funeral Home (852-3530)1177 Salisbury Road Moncton.
