Joyce Eleanor Lohnes
1932-2011
It is with great sadness that the family of Joyce Lohnes announces her death at the Oromocto Public Hospital on January 1st, 2011 at the age of 78. Born in Portage La Prairie, MB on October 17th, 1932, she was the wife of Robie Lohnes of Waterville.
Joyce leaves behind her husband, Robie; daughter, Cynthia (Gordon) Greenham of Calgary; son, Robie Lohnes of Fredericton; grandson, Jakob Greenham of Calgary; sister, Marilyn (Ken) Prentice of Calgary and brother, Gerald (Pat) Fraser of Tumbler Ridge, BC. Joyce was predeceased by her parents, Clinton and Vera (Walker) Fraser.
There will be no services at her request. For those who wish, donations in Joyce's memory can be made to the Lung Association.
Reid Edward Smith
1935-2011
The death of Reid E. Smith of Lincoln, NB occurred on January 3rd, 2011 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. Born December 3rd, 1935 in Upper Gagetown, he was the son of the late Edward and Ruth (Briggs) Smith and was the husband of Barbara Smith.
Reid is survived by his spouse, Barbara; his children, Travis Smith of Surrey, BC and Deanna Lee Smith of Lincoln, NB; his brothers, Wendell Smith (Marie) of Swan Creek, NB, Russell Smith (Patricia) of Burton, NB, Craig Smith (Vicky) of Burton, NB and Michael Smith (Corrie) of Upper Gagetown, NB; his sisters, Sadie Miner (Cecil), Bird Palmer, Sabra LaFrance (Eldon), Carol Burtt (Gordon), Gail Hart (Robert), Sharon Gallup (Robert); one grandchild, Bronson Reid Smith and several nieces and nephews. Reid was predeceased by his brothers, Dwight Smith and Farrell Smith; one brother-in-law, Norris Palmer and one nephew, Marty Palmer.
Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 5th, 2011 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held at the Lincoln Baptist Church on Thursday, January 6th, 2011 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Steve Ranni officiating. Interment will be held in the Pine Grove Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Reid may be made to the NB Heart & Stroke, Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of the donor's choice. 357-5100.
Lloyd Edward Douglass
1926-2011
The death of Lloyd Edward Douglass occurred at York Manor Nursing Home on January 4th, 2011. Born in Stanley, NB, he was the son of the late Edward and Agnes (Harvey) Douglass and the husband of the late Faye (McGeehan) Douglass
Lloyd retired from Tractor and Equipment after many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time managing the family wood lot and gardening. He was a long time member of St. John's Anglican Church in Oromocto, NB, he was also a member of the LOL for over 60 years.
Survived by one daughter, Connie Ladds (Vernon) of Lincoln, NB two sons, Keith of Lincoln, NB and Roger (Patty) of Beaverdam, NB; grandchildren, Joy, Keri, Coady, Matthew, Eric; great-grandchildren, Stephen, Benjamin, Isabella, Prestly and Marshall, Grady; two sisters, Stella Keenan and Janet Clark.
Predeceased by his parents, wife Faye; one daughter Emma - Jean; one son, Mark; his siblings, Reba, Charles, Ruby, Earl, Annie and Edith.
Visitation will be held at Oromocto Funeral Home on Friday, January 7th, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at Oromocto Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday January 8th, 2011 at 2:00 pm. Interment will be in the Lower Lincoln Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, memorial tributes may be made to Canadian Diabets Association or the Oromocto SPCA.
Elsie Jane Pope
1937-2011
It is with deep regret that we announce the peaceful passing of Elsie Jane Pope (Myshrall) of Geary, NB on January 5th, 2011 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. Born on November 21st, 1937 in Queensbury, NB she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Noreen (Parker) Myshrall.
Elsie, in her younger years, worked at many Fredericton restaurants. After getting married she spent 5 years in Germany and then returned to New Brunswick, moving to Geary in 1978. She worked for DND Kitchens until her retirement.
Elsie was survived by her children, Margie (Robert) Dobson of Geary, Kevin Pope of Saskatoon, Derek Pope of Geary and Roberta (Andrew) Duffy of Fredericton; her precious grandchildren, Andrew Dobson of Halifax, Brian Dobson of Geary and Amanda Duffy of Fredericton as well as her children’s father, Claude Pope. She is also survived by her brothers, Jimmy (Cheryl) Myshrall, Joseph (Viola) Myshrall, Jack (Laura) Myshrall, Robert (Carol) Myshrall all of the Fredericton area and Stanley (Cindy) Myshrall of Toronto; sisters, Nancy Nicoles and Linda (Jim) Casey all of Saint John; her aunt, Lena McCully of Saint John; a special life long friend, Annie Morehouse as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Marie McCoy and brother, Willis Shaw.
Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home, 108 Winnebago St., (357-5100) on Friday, January 7th, 2011 from 7-9 pm. The memorial service will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, January 8th, 2011 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at a later date in Mactaquac. For those who wish, memorial tributes in Elsie’s name may be made to the Canadian Red Cross Equipment and Loan Program.
Joel Everett Howe
1970-2011
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing at home of Joel Everett Howe, "Slabman", at the age of 40. He was born on May 2nd, 1970 in Fredericton, NB.
Joel is survived by his wife, Pat (Ferris); daughter, Alanna; parents, Everett and Helen (Wood) Howe; siblings, Gloria (Andre) Pouliot, Gary Howe, Mark (Jocelyn) Howe, Matthew (Janice) Howe and Paulianne (Brian Higgins) Howe; mother-in-law, Dorothy Ferris; sister-in-law, Cynthia Ferris; nieces and nephews, Melanie Parker, Justin Howe, Scott Howe, Nicholas Howe, Ryan Howe, Zachary Higgins and Alex Higgins; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. Joel was predeceased by his grandparents, Elzie and Greta (Harrison) Howe and Lawrence and Alice Wood; and uncles, Terry Wood, Leon Howe, William Howe and father-in-law, Russell Ferris.
He will be sadly missed.
There will be no visitation by request. The family will hold a private memorial service officiated by Mr. Johann Grimm. Friends are invited to reception at 9 Portage Road in French Lake at 3 pm on Friday, January 7th, 2010. For those who wish, donations in Joel's memory can be made to the charity of their choice.
Helen McIntyre
1937-2011
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Helen McIntyre on January 12th, 2011 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. She was born in Auchendinny, Scotland on September 29th, 1937.
Helen was the beloved wife for 47 years to David McIntyre; devoted mother to Kim and John (Debbie) and Douglas; proud grandmother to Kim's daughter, Melissa and John and Debbie's daughters, Erica, Elena, Sarah and Julia.
Helen will be remembered by her family for her love and devotion as well as the kindess and compassion she had for those she knew.
Special thanks to the doctors and nurses entrusted to Helen's care and well being over the years, especially Dr. Peter Fraser, Dr. Sainz and the palliative care nursing staff at the Oromocto Public Hospital for treating Helen with such dignity and respect. Thank you to MaryAnne for helping with the care of Mom at home in David's absence. To our extended family and friends, we thank you for your concern and being there to help us through this time.
There will be no visitation or service by request. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Oromocto Funeral Home (357-5100).
Robert Fenwick "Bob" Carty
1927-2010
The death of Robert “Bob” Carty occurred on Friday, November 5th, 2010 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB he was the son of the late Albert and Fanny (Tyler) Carty and husband of the late Mary “Dee Dee” (Conyer) Carty.
Robert “Bob” retired from the Canadian Armed Forces after 30 years of service. He was awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration with the second clasp as well as the Canadian Peace Keeping service medal. Bob continued working for an additional 30 years with the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires and was a resident of Oromocto for over 30 years.
Bob loved all things nautical and especially enjoyed building scale replicas of tall ships. Bob also loved all types of music especially Jazz and Blues and live musical events.
Bob is survived by his sons, William Carty of Winnipeg, MB, Albert Carty of Winnipeg, MB and Donald Carty of Georgia, US; daughters, Ruby McQueen (Carty) of Georgia, US, Roberta Ciric (Carty) of Vancouver, BC and Rebecca Carty of Barrie, ON; brother, Donald Carty of Toronto, ON; sisters in law, Doris Carty of Toronto, ON and June Carty of Fredericton, NB, as well as 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Dee Dee and his parents, Bob was predeceased by his brothers, Adolphus, William, Clyde, Malcolm and Gerald.
Visitation will be held at Oromocto Funeral Home, 108 Winnebago St., on Tuesday, November 9th, 2010 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 93 will hold a tribute service at 7 pm. The funeral service will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, November 10th, 2010 at 1 pm with Father Ken Weir officiating. Interment will be in the Pine Grove United Church Cemetery in Burton, NB. Memorial tributes in Bob’s name may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON), Red Cross or The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 93.
