Arnold Siegfried Lutz
1929-2010

It is with great sadness that the family of Arnold Lutz announce his passing at the Oromocto Public Hospital on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at the age of 81. Born in Saskatchewan on September 2nd, 1929, he was the husband of the late Georgina Beatrice Lutz.

Arnold leaves behind his sons, Barry (Maureen) Lutz of Burton and Danny (Johanna) Lutz of Quinnell, BC; daughters, Judy Harysymko of Comox, BC and Caroline (David) Slydell of Collwood, BC; sister, Bernice (Paul) Ulmer of Pitt Meadows, BC; 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Arnold was predeceased by his parents; his wives, Gladys Barber and Georgina Beatrice; and his son-in-law, Jack Harysymko.

There will be no visitation or service by request. For those who wish, donations in Arnold's memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

M.H. Yvonne Gallant
1932-2010

The death of M. H. Yvonne Gallant of Oromocto, NB occurred on September 27th, 2010 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born March 4th, 1932 on PEI, she was the daughter of the late Vital and Angeline Gallant and wife to the late J. Arthur Gallant.

Yvonne is survived by her sons, Gary (Wendy), Doug (Cheryl), Wayne and Brian (Michele) Gallant; daughter, Belinda Hebert (Jim); grandchildren, Brad (Erin), Natalie (Jason), Christopher, Justin, Melissa, Kylie and Emma; great-grandchildren, Addison, Ethan, Laura, Alexis and Leila; siblings, Reta Blanchard, Eleanor Desveaux, Zeta Peters and Eugene Gallant and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Artie; her daughter, Suzanne and siblings, Allan and Louis Gallant, Lorette Quinn and Melina Daley.

A special thank you to Dr. Roxborough, Dr Youwakim, Dr. S. Hart and all the nurses and staff of the DECH Emergency Room and 4NW for their wonderful care and kindness shown to Yvonne and her family.

Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Thursday, September 30th, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-9 pm. A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Friday, October 1st, 2010 at 11:00 am with Fr. Ken Weir as celebrant. Interment will take place in the adjoining cemetery. Due to allergies, in lieu of flowers, donations to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family. (357-5100)

Beryl Yvonne Thomas-Thibault
1927-2010

Beryl Y. Thomas-Thibault passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, October 23, 2010.

She was born on September 16, 1927 in Puriley, Surrey, England. She was predeceased by her parents, Cicil and Annie (Purser) Bourne; her first husband, John Thomas and her sister, Sheila.

She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Bernard “Bun” Thibault; her children, John Bourne (Brigit) of Germany, Janice Stonehouse (Raymond) of Huntingdon, QC, Jay Thomas (Gina) of Haneytown, NB, Peter Thomas (Judy) of Edmonton, AB, Wayne Thomas (Debbie) of Atikokan, ON and Steven Thomas (Rita) of Burton, NB; step-son, Dean Thibault (Bonnie) of New Maryland, NB; 12 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren as well as 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Jean of Florida, Pauline and Mavis of England as well as her brother, James of England.

Beryl arrived at Pier 21, Halifax, NS in 1946 as a War Bride and settled in Campbellton, NB, later moving to Fredericton and then on to Oromocto in 1957. She was a cook for DND at Base Gagetown until her retirement in 1986. She was an active life member of the RCL – Oromocto Branch #93 and a chartered member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She held many offices with the Branch and the Auxiliary including President, actually becoming the first lady president of the Branch. She was also the recipient of the Meritorious Service Medal with Palm Leaf for her devoted service. She was even a proud member of the British War Brides Association of Fredericton and the Sunbury Seniors Club. She enjoyed traveling, bingo, cards and camping and was an avid bowler.

Visitation will be held at Oromocto Funeral Home, 108 Winnebago Street on Monday, October 25 from 7-9 pm with the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #93 holding a tribute at 7:00 pm. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday, October 26 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral mass, celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at 2:00 pm at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with a reception afterwards in the church hall. Memorial tributes in Beryl’s honor may be made to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Children’s Wish Foundation.

Edwin Nicholas McIntyre
1934-2010

It is with great sadness that the family of Edwin McIntyre announce his death at the Oromocto Public Hospital on Tuesday, November 9th, 2010 at the age of 76. Born in Coytown, NB on May 26th, 1934 he was the son of the late Byard and Laura (Shears) McIntyre and husband of Betty McIntyre of Upper Gagetown.

Edwin is survived by his wife, Betty; son, Edwin Jr. (Eva); daughters, Joanne (Edwin) and Duranie (Michael); grandchildren, Kyle and Kristin; step-grandchildren, Kelly, Brendan, Jesse and Madilynn; 4 sisters; special friend, Allie Coy and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Edwin was predeceased by his daughter, Cheryl; 3 sisters and 2 brothers.

There will be no visitation at Edwin's request. Friends are invited to join with the family for prayers and words of remembrance at the Upper Gagetown Cemetery on Friday, November 12th, 2010 at 2 pm. A reception at the Upper Gagetown Lions Club will follow the interment. In lieu of flowers, the McIntyre family would appreciate donations to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Walter Blake Vail
1958-2010

The death of Walter Blake Vail occurred at his residence in Gagetown, NB on Monday, November 29th, 2010. Born April 4th, 1958, he was the son of the late Harry and Hattie (Ackerman) Vail.

Walter is survived by his siblings, Pauline Chase (Bruce) of Cambridge-Narrows, NB, George Vail (Helen) of Memramcook, NB, Dennis Vail (Cathy Hay) of Douglas, NB and Margaret Magee of St. Catherine's, ON; several nieces and nephews and numerous friends. He was predeceased by his parents and three siblings, Roland Vail, Elva McConnachie and Freda Kierstead.

Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Friday, December 3rd, 2010 from 3-7 pm. A private memorial service will be held for the family. All are welcome to the interment to take place in the 1st Cambridge Baptist Cemetery at 3 pm, Saturday, December 4th, 2010 and to a reception to follow in the 1st Cambridge Baptist Church. For those who wish, donations in memory of Walter may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. 357-5100.

Daisy "Doreen" LeGassie
1933-2010

Doreen went to be with the Lord on December 4, 2010. Born on May 30, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Kathleen (O’Leary) LeGassie.

She will be sadly missed by her dear friend, Jean Moss and the residents of the Mill Cove Special Care Home. Doreen will be remembered for her big smile and loving heart.

She is survived by her sisters, Pauline Carr and Avis Cabana (Ray); brother, Reg LeGassie (Sandra); niece, Susan (LeGassie) Colwell (John); nephew, Robert LeGassie (Ada); sister-in-law, Joan LeGassie; son, Richard Goguen (Alice); grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her precious brothers, Alden, Gerald and Douglas LeGassie and her sister, Jeanette.

There will be no visitation by request. The memorial mass will take place at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 11:00 am with interment following in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. Ken Weir will officiate. Memorial tributes in Doreen’s name may be made to the “Team Ronan Fund” either at Oromocto Funeral Home or in care of Prince Charles School, 317-319 Union St., Saint John, NB, E2L-1B3 (658-5355). Arrangements have been entrusted to Oromocto Funeral Home (357-5100)

Jessie Caroline "Toots" Byers
1918-2010

The death of Jessie Caroline Byers of Oromocto occurred at the Oromocto Public Hospital on December 1st, 2010. Born in Saint John on October 14th, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Harry E. and Jessie L. (Gates) Cornfield and wife to the late Norman John Byers.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Tynes (Daniel) of Oromocto; her grandchildren, J-D Canney (Angela) of Lincoln, and Ted Canney (Katherine)of Oromocto; her beloved great-grandchildren, Marissa, Donnette, Johnny and Jade; her brothers, Vernon Cornfield of Prince Edward Island and Murray Cornfield (Norma) of Renforth, NB and numerous nieces and nephews. Jessie was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Norman; one sister, Floss Lewell; her brothers, Harry, John, George, Andrew, Jim and her infant brother, Phillip.

Jessie was an active member of St. John's Anglican Church in Oromocto and was involved in many organizations including the A.C.W., the Oromocto Public Hospital Auxillary and the Sunbury Seniors Friendship Group.

Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Friday, December 3rd, 2010 from 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held at St. John's Anglican Church on Saturday, December 4th, 2010 at 1 pm. Rev. Keith Howlett will officiate. Interment will take place in St. Luke's Anglican Cemetery in Hoyt immediately following a reception. For those who wish, donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. 357-5100

John William Robinson
1966-2010

The death of John Robinson of Hamilton, ON occurred on December 25th, 2010 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, NB. Born on November 23rd, 1966 in Calgary, AB, he was the son of Thomas and Elaine (Hilliard) Robinson of Geary, NB.

John is survived by his parents; his son, Riley Robinson of England; his siblings, Frank Robinson (Rosalee) of Oromocto, NB, Wayne Robinson (Terri) of Nanaimo, BC, Harold Robinson of Nova Scotia, Lorri deJong (David) of Haneytown, NB and Nancy Tower (Stewart) of Burton, NB; his brother-in-law, Tony Quackenbush; his nieces and nephews, Tommy Robinson, Hailey, Justin and Trinity Robinson and Dale Quackenbush (Amanda); and three of his very special friends, Leah, Brodie and Simone Greene. John was predeceased by his sister, Vicki Lynne Quackenbush.

Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 29th, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held at the Oromocto Baptist Church on Thursday, December 30th, 2010 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Dr. Perry Hanley officiating. Interment will take place in the Geary, French Lake, Waterville Memorial Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oromcto Baptist Church, NB Lung Association or to the charity of the donor's choice.
