Kenneth E. Britt
BRITT - the death of Kenneth E. Britt of Kiersteadville, N.B., husband of Bonita L. (Friars) Britt, occurred at the Dr. Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, on Friday, August 29, 2008. Ken was born in Saint John, a son of the late Leslie J. and Mary A. (Donovan) Britt.
He had been employed as a systems operator with N.B. Power for 36 years until his retirement a number of years ago. He was a member of the Sussex Council of the Knights of Columbus; and the Hampton Golf Club.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Stephen (Sandi) of Whistler, B.C., and David of Saint John; one daughter, Michele Doran (Billy) of Fredericton; four brothers, Dr. Daniel L. (Olga) of Rothesay, Raymond (Ellen) of Hamilton, Ont., John "Jack" (Marjorie) of Saint John, and Gerald (Mary) of Trenton, Ont.; three sisters, Shirley Dysart of Saint John, Joan D'Amours (Guy) of Sorel, Quebec, and Anne Levasseur of Saint John; four grandchildren, Ryan and Britt Doran, and Hilary and Brooke Carroll; and several nieces and nephews.
Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., Saint John, with visiting on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Tuesday morning at 12:05. Victor J. Lavigne
LAVIGNE - the death of Victor J. Lavigne of St. Martin's, husband of the late Edna Mary (Madore) Lavigne, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday, October 11, 2008. Victor was born in Bathurst, a son of the late Amos and Lillian May (Montgomery) Lavigne, and had resided the greater part of his life in the Saint John area. He served with the Merchant Marine during the Second World War. He had owned and operated Vic's Texaco and Convenience Store until his retirement in 1989.
Besides his wife, he was predeceased by two sons, David and Paul Lavigne and two brothers, Fred and Clifford Lavigne. He is survived by five sons, Richard (Linda), Frederick, Peter (Stacy), and Victor Jr. (Debbie), all of St. Martin's, and Daniel (Carol) of Hampton; three daughters, Lillian Jackson (Wayne), Laura Morrison (John), and Deborah Rourke (Terry), all of St. Martin's; two sisters, Audrey Dawson of Sussex, and Mabel Chaput of Deep River, Ont.; and several grandchildren, great - grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Service will be held in Fitzpatrick's Chapel on Wednesday morning at nine o'clock. Interment will take place in St. William's Cemetery, St. Martin's. In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Lakewood Headstart, or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
Arthur B. Wade
WADE - the death of Arthur B. Wade of Campbellford, Ont., occurred at the Campbellford Memorial Hospital on Thursday, October, 9, 2008. Arthur was born in Evandale, N.B., a son of the late Fred and Hazel (Seely) Wade.
He had resided the greater part of his life in Scarborough, Ont. until moving to Campbellford for his retirement. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Wade. He is survived by one son, Warren (Melinda) Wade of Oshawa; two daughters, Beth Shelley (Jimmy) of Campbellford, and Robin Wade of Switzerland; two brothers, Clayton Wade of Saint John, and David (Ruth) Wade of Young's Cove, N.B.; two sisters, Pauline Carew of Saint John, and Dorothy Boucher (Vincent) of Rothesay; 2 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Leona "Babe" Holburn
HOLBURN - the death of Leona "Babe" Holburn, widow of Murray Holburn, occurred at Loch Lomond Villa on Tuesday, October 14, 2008. Mrs. Holburn was born in Halifax, a daughter of the late Zepher and Mary (O'Brien) LaRiviere and had resided the greater part of her life in Saint John.
She was a graduate of St. Vincent's Girls High School and Vocational Business School and had been employed with Sears Credit Dept. for many years until her retirement in 1983. She was a founding member of St. Pius X Parish. She was very active in the Liberal Party; St. Pius X Catholic Women's League; and St. Vincent's Alumnae Association. Leona enjoyed the outdoor life, especially skiing, swimming, skating, walking, and camping. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Agnes Keating and Margaret O'Connell. She is survived by one son, Dr.
Murray P. (Joanne) Holburn of Saint John; three daughters, Maureen Finnigan (Joseph), Leona Calvin (Ross), and Patricia Johnston (Alf), all of Saint John; ten grandchildren, Mark, Kevin, and Sean Finnigan; Michael Calvin; Lee MacLean; Tom Watts; Susan Hendra; and Jennifer, Scott, and Jake Holburn; ten great - grandchildren, Aidan, Ethan, and Gabrielle Finnigan; Michael and Mathew MacLean; Kiernan, Laughlan, and Sorcha Watts; and Luca and Kolya Hendra.

Roland E. Furlong
FURLONG - the death of Roland E. Furlong of East Saint John, husband of Theresa (Lenihan) Furlong, occurred at his residence on Saturday, October 25, 2008. Roland was born in Renous, N.B., a son of the late LeRoy and Marion (Donovan) Furlong, and had resided the greater part of his life in Saint John. He had been employed as a pipefitter and welder at the Dry Dock and was a member of Local 213 until his retirement a number of years ago. He enjoyed cooking and was an avid fan of NASCAR and country and western music. His life was centered around his wife, his children, and his grandchildren. Besides his wife, he is survived by four sons, William (Gail), Roland (Laurie), Robert (Karen), and James (Caroline), all of Saint John; one daughter, Cheryl Furlong of Saint John; three brothers, Ronald (Valerie) and LeRoy (Linda) both of Quispamsis, and Wayne (Christine) of Rothesay; seven grandchildren, Shamus, Alana, Sarah, Nick, Emma, Leland, and Dana; and several nieces and nephews.

Joseph Murray Doucet
DOUCET - the death of Joseph Murray Doucet occurred at the Turnbull Home on Friday, December 5, 2008. Joseph was born in Petit Rocher, a son of the late Wilfred and Beatrice (Bertin) Doucet, and had resided the greater part of his life in Saint John. He had been employed as a lumberman until his retirement a number of years ago. He was the last surving member of his family, having beeen predeceased by five brothers, Aldie, Elide, Fred, Romeo, and Len; and four sisters, Dora, Yvette, Theresa, and Lea.
He is survived by a daughter, Angela King (John) of Saint John; two grandchildren, Brian and Krista King; and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements by Fitzpatrick's Funeral Service Ltd. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
Helen E Colgan
COLGAN - the death of Helen E. Colgan of 25 Lyden Drive, Quispamsis, wife of William Cleveland, occurred at St. Joseph's Hospital on Thursday, December 18, 2008. Helen was born in Saint John, a daughter of the late Joseph C. and M. Florence (Markey) Kane.
She had been a nurse at the Saint John General Hospital and St. Joseph's Hospital for forty years before operating a special care home in Quispamis. She was predeceased by her first husband, James B. Colgan, in 1988. Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Linda C. Colgan of Quispamsis; her grandson, Jim Colgan of Quispamsis; and her sister, Olive Turner of Saint John.

P. Geneva Teehan
TEEHAN - the death of P. Geneva Teehan, formerly of 319 Millidge Ave., widow of Walter J. Teehan, occurred at Kings Way Care Centre, Quispamsis, on Sunday, January 4, 2009, surrounded by her family. Geneva was born in Ward's Creek, a daughter of the late Edward and Marie (Gray) Kierstead. She had been employed at Marcus Furniture until beginning to raise her family. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Hilson Kierstead. She was a member of St. Peter's Bowling League for many years and enjoyed skating at the Saint John Forum.
She is survived by three sons, Walter (Laurel) of Sussex, Michael(Sandra) of Quispamsis, and Eric (Marilyn) of China; two daughters, Julie McGrath (Cecil), and Sheri Green (Mark), both of Saint John; one sister, Ruby Bison of Saint John; 16 grandchildren, Kelly, Jody, Michelle, Meredith, Matthew, Kristian, Shay, Tamara, MacKenzie, Amber, Aaron, David, Ben, Jenna, Zachary, and John - Eric; 17 great - grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Marie - Monique Gill
1936 - 2009
GILL - the death of Marie - Monique Gill of 124 Black St., wife of Kenneth Wm. Gill, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday, January 4, 2009. Mrs. Gill was born in 1936 at Verdun, Quebec, where she was raised and educated, and had resided in Saint John since 1958.
Apart from teaching French as a second language for several years, Monique was involved through the years with a number of organizations:
Le Cercle Francais de Saint - Jean; SAANB; Toastmistresses; St. Pius X Parish Council; St. Pius X Choir; Saint John Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services as a board member; and also a co - founder of CHHA - NB Chapter. After training and receiving accreditation in Calgary, she initiated instruction classes in speechreading (lipreading) for the hard of hearing and instructed many classes. She was predeceased by her baby son, Sean in 1967, and her 15 year old son, Mark in 1975.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her sister, Celine Chagnon, her brother, Jean - Michel Chagnon (Monique), 2 nephews, 1 nieces, and several cousins, all from Verdun and LaSalle, Quebec. She also leaves a sister - in - law, Gail Kai (Darrel) of Langley, B.C., as well as two nephews. Her mission was accomplished and the Lord called her back.
