Debbie Burke

The death of Debbie Burke of 106 Glen Road, wife of Wayne Burke occurred on March 2, 2003 at her home. Born in Saint John she was the daughter of Eldon Clyde Waddell and the late Edna Mary (Jackson) Waddell. She is survived by her two sons Greg (Sandy) Burke of Moncton and Kevin (Michelle) Burke of Fredericton; brother Clyde (Darlene) Waddell and sisters Janet (Bob) Palmer and Carol (Brian) Beckingham all of Saint John; granddaughters Courtney, Jillian, Madison, Shyanne and Gracie.

Debbie's genuine love for her family, friends and animals touched the hearts of everyone who knew her. Debbie will be sadly missed by her family and all who were blessed to have known her. She was predeceased by her mother Edna in 1984.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, (646-2424), with visitation on Tuesday 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Ann's Church, Simpson Drive, on Thursday March 6, 2003 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. The family would appreciate donations made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Gertrude Doris (Campbell) Orr

Mrs. Gertrude Doris (Campbell) Orr, of Charlton Place, Saint John, wife of the late Robert Charles Orr, occurred on Tuesday July 8, 2003 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born August 26, 1918, in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Owen R. and Ella Mae (Patterson) Campbell.

She is survived by her sons Robert Charles (Flo) Orr of Calgary and John Brian (Sandra) Orr of Saint John; her daughter Margaret Rose Willar (Larry) of Saint John; special grand nephew Terry Campbell of Saint John; sisters Ethel Ryan, Bessie Parks, Mary O'Blenis and Frances Mailman all of Saint John; sister in law Anne Orr of Saint John; eight grand children; 17 great grand children; five great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, parents, brother William Campbell, and sisters Pearl Campbell, Margaret Dunphy and Claire McAuley.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, (646-2424) with visitation on Wednesday 7-9 p.m., Thursday and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Pius X Church on Saturday July 12, 2003 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Lucy Thelma Colwell

The death of Mrs. Lucy Thelma Colwell, of the Carleton Kirk Nursing Home, wife of the late Gordon Colwell, occurred on Thursday July 3, 2003 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born June 27, 1928 in Spencers Island, NS, she was the daughter of the late Capt. Charles and Sadie (Spicer) Haggerty. Lucy was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch 22.

She is survived by her children Jack (Colleen) Colwell of London, Ontario and Rose (Basil) Grasse of Musquash; three grandchildren Erin and Darren Colwell and Collin Grasse; one sister Florence Blenkhorn of Quispamsis; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon, parents, brothers Malcolm and Daniel Haggerty; and sisters Alta Rumson, Jean Pomieatlaz, Christine Cole, Laura Kelly and Ida Moyer.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, (646-2424) with visitation on Friday July 4, 2003 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday July 5, 2003 at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Fernhill Cemetery. The family would appreciate donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Stanley Thomas Conroy

The death of Mr. Stanley Thomas Conroy, of Rocmaura Nursing Home, occurred on Wednesday July 2, 2003 at his residence. Born September 23, 1913 in Saint John he was the son of the late Thomas and Julia (Whittingham) Conroy. Stanley was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

He is survived by niece Colleen Somerville of Saint John as well as several nieces and nephews. He worked as a foreman in the Machine Shop for the Saint John Dry Dock for 50 years, and volunteered at the Rocmaura Nursing Home. He was predeceased by his parents, sisters Mae Boyle and Eileen Somerville, and half brother William Hampton.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitation on Friday July 4, 2003 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday July 5, 2003 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Fernhill Cemetery. Donations made to the Animal Rescue League or Cherry Brook Zoo would be appreciated.

Frederick Edwin Watters

The death of Mr. Frederick Edwin Watters (Sunny), loving husband of Jean (Campbell), of Saint John, occurred on July 1, 2003 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born September 13, 1934 in Saint John, he was the son of May R. (Stubbs) Watters and the late Frederick W. Watters. Fred was employed with NB Tel for 28 years prior to retiring in 1991, he was a member of Silver Falls United Church where he served on the Session, Stewarts and Board of Trusties.

Besides his loving wife Jean, he is survived by his daughters Linda (David) Allan of Quispamsis and Laura vanZuylen of Saint John; grandchildren Michelle, Katharyn, Ian and Janine; sisters Dorothy Keohan of Moncton, Donna Sproul of Saint John, Doris (Bill) Nelson of Saint John and Darlene (Ian) Silliker of Calgary; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Frederick W. and brothers Robert and Gary Watters.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitation on Wednesday and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Silver Falls United Church on Friday July 4, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. Following cremation, a private family interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family would appreciate donations made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Aurele Joseph Hebert

The death of Mr. Aurele Joseph Hebert, loving husband of Laura (Poirier) Hebert, of Renforth, occurred on Sunday June 22, 2003 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born March 13, 1934 in Acadieville, NB, he was the son of the late Joseph and Arthemise (LeBlanc) Hebert. Aurele was a carpenter by trade, retiring from the Saint John Shipbuilding. He enjoyed fishing, camping and woodworking, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was also a member of the Assumption Center 30 Up Club.

He is survived by his loving wife Laura, three sons Leo (friend Karen Godin) of Renforth, Yvon (Jacqueline) of West Saint John and John (Michelle) of Wells; two daughters Claudette (Jim) Maxwell of West Saint John and Rose (Dave) Stewart of Saint John; one brother Edgar Hebert of St. Ignace; five sisters Elva Richard, Rita Richard and Therese Daigle all of St.Louis de Kent, Lucie Richard of Moncton, and Edith Robichaud of Massachusetts, US. Pere also is survived by eleven grandchildren Nicole, Brian, Erika, Ryan, Stephen, Michael, Cameron, Evan, Julie, Caitlin and Sophie; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Elvery Hebert.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, (646-2424) with visitation on Tuesday June 24, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Ann's Church on Wednesday June 25, 2003 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. The family would appreciate donations made to the Palliative Care Unit Saint John Regional Hospital or to Canadian Cancer Society.

Signa Mae Manuel

The death of Mrs. Signa Mae Manuel, wife of the late Arthur Manuel, occurred on Thursday June 19, 2003 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by her family. Born July 27, 1922, in Norris Point Bonne Bay, NL, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Abraham and Fronie (Dolimont) Humber. Signa was a member of the Pythian Sisters, ACW, and St. Mary and St. Bartholomew Church. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She will be sadly missed by her loving children Eric (Pat) of Sault St. Marie, Ont, Randy of Saint John, Wayne (Cindy) of Sussex, Richard (Sharon) of Saint John, Derek (Kim) of Saint John and Marguerite (James) MacKeigan of Fort MacMurray, AB; 20 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers James, Leslie, Eric, Calvin and Clyde Humber; sisters Caroline Warren and Katherine Humber.

Following cremation, visitation will be held from Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Monday June 23, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held from St. Mary and St. Bartholomew Church on Tuesday June 24, 2003 at 11a.m. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor's choice.

M. Annie LeBlanc

The death of Mrs. M. Annie LeBlanc of Saint John, occurred on Thursday June 19, 2003 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born December 19, 1913 in Bouctouche, NB she was the daughter of the late Charles and Rose Ann (Cormier) LeBlanc. Anne was a member of Senior Citizen Inc., Milford Card Party, St. Joachim's Church and was a avid Bingo player.

She is survived by four sons Philip LeBlanc of Toronto, Ronald (Jane) of Bridge Water, NS, Leo (Carol Ann) of Saint John and Mark (Debbie) of Saint John; one daughter Dale (James) Gallant of Barnsville; two sisters Mary Jeffries of Saint John and Normande LeBlanc of Bouctouche; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son Rodney LeBlanc, husband Marcell LeBlanc, Arthur Fredrick Gilligan, sisters Emma Rull, Almyre Kerr and Ida LeBlanc, and brother Joseph LeBlanc.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, (646-2424) with visitation on Saturday and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9. A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Monday June 23, 2003 at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. The family would appreciated donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of the donor's choice.

Hiram C. Foster

The death of Hiram C. Foster of Grand Manan, NB, loving husband of Frances (Ingersoll), occurred on Thursday June 19, 2003 at the Grand Manan Hospital. Born April 27, 1915 in Grand Manan, he was the son of the late Arthur and Dorcas (Jones) Foster. Mr. Foster was self employed as a Electrician and Plumber, he was a member of Grand Harbour Baptist Church.

He is survived by his son Richard (Ellen) and daughter Barbara Foster both of Riverview, NB; sister Helena Russell of Grand Manan; two grandchildren Loriann (Svein) Sveinson and Peter Foster; three great grandchildren Alison and Emma Foster and Matthew Sveinson; one niece and two nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Terrance.

Visitation will be held from Grand Harbour Baptist Church, Grand Manan, on Friday June 20, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday June 21, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. The family would appreciate donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Grand Harbour Baptist Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424).

Wilfred Joseph Savoie

Canadian Flag The death of Mr. Wilfred Joseph Savoie, loving husband of Clara (Gallant) Savoie, of Saint John West, occurred on Monday June 16, 2003 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born May 11, 1918 in Pointe Sapin, NB he was the son of the late Alex and Mary Blanche Savoie. Wilfred was a veteran of WWII, member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 69, and Knights of Columbus Council 6770 and Assembly 1940 4th degree. He was a Foreman for Strescon for many years.

He is survived by his loving wife Clara, sons Raymond (Cecile) of Chalk River, Ontario and Donald (Michele) of Saint John; daughters Dianne Foote of Saint John, Linda (Dennis) Bruton of Kanata, Ontario and Freda Robertson (Gordie Wilson) of Saint John; 10 grandchildren; five great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers Walter and Emery.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitation on Tuesday and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Rose de Lima Church on Thursday June 19, 2003 at 2 pm. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery Field of Honour. The family would appreciate donations made to the Alzheimer's Society or to the charity of the donor's choice. A legion tribute to a veteran will be held on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.
