McVicar, Hazel Iona

Peacefully at her residence in L’Etang, N.B., surrounded by her family, on Aug. 27, 2006 Mrs. Hazel Iona (Hooper) McVicar, wife of the late Kirby Roy McVicar. Born in Back Bay, N.B., on March 1, 1910, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Elizabeth (Leslie) Hooper.
A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by two sons, Vance (Ruth) McVicar, of L’Etang, N.B. and Ross (Joanne) McVicar, of Saint John, N.B.; three daughters, Greta Hartford and Thelma Hanley, both of Back Bay, N.B., and Iona (Arthur) Corimer, of Rexton, N.B.; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by two sons, Watson (Sonny) and Bernard McVicar; three grandsons, Dennis Hanley, Bernard A. McVicar and Blair McVicar; one son-in-law, Whitman Hanley, husband of Thelma; and daughter-in-law, Helen, wife of Watson (Sonny). She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Hazel was a member of the Sea View Full Gospel Church in Back Bay, N.B. In her earlier years she had worked as a sardine packer for Conners Brothers Ltd. in Back Bay. She loved knitting and quilting and also enjoyed solving word puzzles.
Resting at the Sea View Full Gospel Church, in Back Bay, N.B., from where the service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 30 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Gordon Cooke officiating.
Visiting will take place at the church on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
In Hazel's memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the care of the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB.

Wyman, Jessie (Annette) Farquhar

WYMAN, Jessie (Annette) Farquhar - Annette Wyman, of Fredericton, N.B., passed away peacefully at Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., on Sept. 27, 2006. Born in Dumbarton, Scotland, on Jan. 16, 1924, she was the daughter of Josiah and Helen (Young) Campbell.
Survived by daughter, Carol Ross (Floyd) of New Maryland, N.B.; son, Eldon Wyman (Doreen) of Edmonton, Alta.; grandsons, Christopher and Stephen Wyman; and step-grandchildren, Georgie Murray (Jason) and Ian Ross.
She was predeceased by her husband, Major Sydney Russell Wyman, of Hebron, N.S.
In the fall of 1946, she arrived at Pier 21 in Halifax as a war bride, to start her new life in Hebron, N.S. As an army wife, she traveled extensively across Canada, lived in St. Andrews and finally settled in Fredericton, N.B.
Her lifelong passion was ballroom dancing that she thoroughly enjoyed sharing with all ages. She loved gardening, needlework and competitive games.
She was a keen volunteer in the Canadian Girl Guide movement; one of the founding members of the Alzheimer Society of Fredericton; and a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Canadian Legion.
The celebration of Annette’s life will take place at New Maryland United Church on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006 at 1:30 p.m., with Rev. Bill MacLeod officiating. Interment at the Riverside Cemetery, Hebron, N.S. at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006.
Instead of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Alzheimer Society of Fredericton, the Kidney Foundation of Canada or the New Maryland United Church.

Galley, Patricia Ann

The death of Patricia Ann Galley of Wilson’s Beach, Campobello, N.B., occurred on Aug. 23, 2006. Born in Eastport, Me., she was the daughter of the late Percy and Florence (Lank) Newman.
Survived by her daughter, Mary Pauline Alexander; sons, Cleland, Dwayne (Leanne), Peter and Bradley (Danielle) Galley; grandchildren, Megan Galley, Jordan and Raeann Getchell, Brooke Alexander, and Cohen and Carter Galley, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Cleland (Bud) Galley.
A graveside service was held on Monday, Aug. 28 at the Head Harbour Cemetery, Campobello, with Rev. Charles Smart officiating.
For those who wish, donation to Head Harbour Cemetery Fund would be appreciated. MacDonald Select Community Funeral Home, 20 Marks St., St. Stephen, in care of arrangements.

Love, Vernard George

Vernard George Love, 73, of Riverview, N.B. It is with great sadness that Vern’s family announces his passing on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006. Born in St. Stephen, N.B., Vern grew up in and around the woods he loved in Charlotte County, N.B. and Pictou County, N.S.
After 25 years on the road with Hallmark Cards, Vern loved nothing more than a good hand of cards with his family while listening to rain fall on the roof of Whoo Whoo Lodge.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rita; his son, Steven; daughter, Susan; daughter-in-law, Charlotte; son-in-law, Chris; his beloved grandchildren, Hannah, Sophie, Simon, Eliza and Angus; and his sisters, Bette and Sharon.
Vern was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Reta, and his sister, June.
His remains are restied at the Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Road on Monday, Aug. 21 with visitation to be held from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m.
The funeral service was held at the Riverview Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006 at 11 a.m. There will be a reception following at the funeral home.
Interment was held in Alderwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital Cardiac Care Unit or to The Immaculate Heart of Mary Building Fund.
Vern’s family would like to express their gratitude to the caring staff of the third floor Cardiac Intensive Care Unit of the Moncton Hospital.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to The Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Road (506) 857-9544.

Wells, William Thomas George

WELLS, William Thomas George - Unexpectedly, surrounded by his loving family, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, N.B., on Sept. 29, 2006, Mr. William Thomas George Wells, age 61, of St. George, N.B. Born in Saint John, N.B., on May 7, 1945, he was the son of the late Thomas and Elsie Wells.
Bill is survived by his loving and much-loved companion, Barb Rayner, of St. George, N.B.; his children, Vicki (Art) Wiggins, of Edmonton, Alta., Stacey (Kevin) Wells, of Blacks Harbour, N.B., and Andrew (Kim) Wells, also of Blacks Harbour, N.B.; nine grandchildren, Michael, Jennifer, Matthew, Michelle, Sean, Janna, Mason, Kelly and Joseph; four sisters in Canada, three brothers and three sisters in Scotland.
He was predeceased by his parents; one sister, Pat, and one brother, Alex.
Bill was employed with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans for 37 years. He was known for his kind and generous heart, his sense of humour, his love of animals and his devotion to his family and friends. He was an avid hockey fan and he always looked forward to his trips down south. "Uncle Bill" leaves a huge void in many lives, which will never be filled.
Visitation took place at the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B., on Monday, Oct. 2, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2006, at 11 a.m., from St. Mark’s Anglican Church, St. George, with the Rev. David Genge officiating.
In Bill’s memory, donations to the Charlotte County SPCA would be appreciated by the family.

Smith, Patricia Ruth

SMITH, Patricia Ruth - Peacefully, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., surrounded by her loving family, on Sept. 26, 2006, Mrs. Patricia Ruth (Richardson) Smith, wife of Goldwin Smith of Lord’s Cove, Deer Island, N.B. Born on Campobello Island on May 1, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Reginald and Harriet (Homan) Richardson.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Patsy is survived by her husband, Goldie; four daughters, Corinne (Daryl) Conley, LuAnn (George) Cline, Sandra (Larry) Bradford, and Karen (Brian) Young, all of Deer Island, N.B.; seven grandchildren, Todd, Trisha, Tera, Darren, Tabby Jane, Sheena and Emily; four great-grandchildren, Julia, Erin, Kendra and Christopher; two brothers, Reggie and Dana; three sisters, Gail, Beth and Andrea; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one sister, Sharon.
Patsy loved sewing, gardening and reading. She especially loved spending time with her beloved grandchildren. She was a member of the Lord’s Cove Church of Christ.
Patsy rested at the Lord’s Cove Church of Christ, Lord’s Cove, N.B., with visiting held on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m.
The funeral service was held on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006 at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Conrad Cline officiating.
Interment followed at the Calder’s Head Cemetery.
In Patsy’s memory, donations to the IWK Children’s Hospital, Halifax, or a charity of the donor’s choice were appreciated by the family.
Arrangements were in the care of the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B.

Mitchell, Nora Jane

At Lincourt Manor, St. Stephen, N.B., on Aug. 16, 2006, Nora Jane Mitchell, widow of Arthur Mitchell, of St. Stephen, N.B.
Survived by one son, James Herbert (Marsha) Inch, Richmond Hill, Ont.; two daughters, Bonita Mary (Alan) Short, St. Stephen, N.B., and Barbara Miriam (LeRoy) Reay, Waite, Me.; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one sister, Mary Jones, Evandale, N.B., several nieces and nephews.
Rested at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B., from where funeral service was held on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006 at 11 a.m.
Interment took place at the Wesleyan Cemetery, Browns Flat, N.B., on Saturday. Aug. 19, 2006 at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Cancer Society, Gideon Bible Society or charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Booth, David Gordon (Gunner)

BOOTH, David Gordon (Gunner) - David Gordon (Gunner) Booth passed away at St. Stephen, N.B., on Friday, Sept. 29, 2006; son of Kathleen (Hogue) and the late William T. Booth, of St. Stephen, N.B.
Survived by his wife, Debra Johnson; one son, Seth; his mother; five brothers, Tom (Diane) Booth, Alan (Sonia) Booth, Michael Booth, Bill Booth, and Alex Booth; four sisters, Bonnie Fairweather (Charlie), Heather Hartford (Jeff), Patricia Booth and Anna Booth, all of St. Stephen, N.B.; two aunts; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church, Milltown Blvd., St. Stephen, N.B., on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2006 at 10 a.m., with Rev. Paul Riley officiating.
Visiting hours were held at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B., on Monday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Interment at Milltown Roman Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Milltown Roman Catholic Cemetery or charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Smith, Ronald John

The death of Ronald John (Fatty) Smith of Heathland, N.B., occurred on Aug. 29, 2006. Born in St. Stephen, N.B., he was the son of the late James and Catherine (Goodine) Smith. He was the husband of the late Muriel (James) Smith. He was a loving father and grandfather.
He is survived by his three daughters, Patricia McLeod and son-in-law, Samuel McLeod, of Virginia Beach, Va., Donna Smith and son-in-law, Greg Smith, of Heathland, N.B., and Sherry Smith Carle and son-in-law, Steven Carle, of Calais, Me. He is also survived by his son, David Smith and daughter-in-law, Pamela Smith. He has 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, and sons, James, Ronald and Randall Smith.
A graveside service will be announced at a later date, to be held at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, St. Stephen, N.B.
