Roy, Benjamin A.
Benjamin A. Roy, 69, passed away Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006 at Calais Regional Hospital, Calais, Me., with his family by his side. Ben was born in St. Stephen, N.B. on June 26, 1937, son of the late Albert and Irene Roy.
He lived in Calais most of his life and was a well known mechanic around the area. Ben was an avid hunter and gun collector, enjoyed camping, and loved the outdoors. He was a lifetime member of the N.R.A.
Surviving are his childhood sweetheart and wife of 48 years, Roberta (Bobbi) A. Roy, whom he married on May 8, 1959; six sons, Phil and Rob of Connecticut, Mike of Kentucky, Tim of Calais, Me., Dave of St. Stephen, N.B. and Ben of Bangor, Me.; a daughter, Jodi Thomas of Charlotte, Me.; a brother, Glen Roy and a sister, Donna, both of Toronto, Ont.; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a special brother-in-law and close friend, Thomas Daggett of Milltown, N.B.; his grandchildren Krista, Ericka and Amanda, who were there by his side to take care of him every step of the way.
Predeceased by brother, Kenneth Roy.
Honourable mention of daughter, Jodi (Roy) Thomas, who was there at his beck and call.

Conley, Myrtle Fanny
CONLEY, Myrtle Fanny - Peacefully, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., on Oct. 9, 2006, Mrs. Myrtle Fanny (Calder) Conley, wife of the late Carroll Quentin Conley, of Pennfield, N.B., and formerly of Fairhaven, N.B. Born at Fairhaven, on Dec. 24, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Horance and Nellie (Lord) Calder.
A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by one son, Brian (Sheila) Conley, of Rolling Dam, N.B.; two daughters, Gloria (Paul) Henderson, of Quispamsis, N.B., and Barbara (Kerry) Luther, of Portland, Me.; four grandchildren, Danny, Tony, Troy and Cathy; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by one sister, Verna Theriault.
Myrtle loved to pass the time by knitting, crocheting and completing crossword puzzles. She was known for baking the best apple pies and volunteering her time with the Women’s Missionary Society, of which she was a long-time member.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B., from where the service was held from The Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006 at 1 p.m., with Rev. Maurice Hatfield and Rev. Geoff Conley officiating.
Interment followed at the Fairhaven Community Cemetery, Deer Island, N.B.
Visiting at the funeral home was held on Wednesday.
In Myrtle’s memory, donations to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
Acheson, Anson Charles
ACHESON, Anson Charles - Unexpectedly at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on Oct. 6, 2006, Anson Charles Acheson of Wall Street, St. Stephen, N.B.; son of the late George Albert and Joyce (Jobson) (Acheson) Davis.
Survived by his wife, Ella (Cairns) Acheson; one son, Dean (Kim Gale), St. Stephen, N.B.; one daughter, Kim Fowler (Larry), Golden, B.C.; five grandchildren: Jill, Bonnie, Ryan, Robbie and Megan; three great- grandchildren; one brother, Peter Acheson (Caroline); two sisters, Diane McFarlane and Linda Feltmate, St. Stephen, N.B.; two half brothers; one aunt; several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visiting by request.
A funeral service will be held at Christ Anglican Church, Prince William Street, St. Stephen, N.B., on Friday, Oct. 13, 2006 at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Cameron, Ruby Alice
Ruby Alice Cameron, of Trail (and formerly of Rossland), B.C., passed away peacefully with her family at her bedside at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital, on Aug. 27, 2006. Ruby was born on Jan. 30, 1926, in Little Ridge, N.B.
She is survived by her children: Larry (Sharon), Gary, Juanita (Mark), Dwight, Rhonda and Greg; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert, Earl and David; two sisters, Violet and Rowena.
She was predeceased by her husband, Merle, in 1996; her parents, Jared and Hazel Baxter; her brother, Albion; and her sister, Velma.
A Memorial Service was held on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2006 at noon at the Rossland Royal Canadian Legion.
Donations may be made in Ruby’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, 908 Rossland Ave., Trail, BC V1R 3N6.
Gillis, Warren Melvin
Gillis, Warren Melvin - The death of Warren Melvin Gillis, of Rolling Dam, N.B., partner of Janet Shatford, occurred on Aug. 25, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B. Born in St. Stephen, he was the son of Melvin L. (Anne) and the late, Charlene (McKinney) Gillis.
He was employed as a laborer with various companies in the Saint John area and had worked for Rothesay Paper for a number of years.
He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his children: Anthony, Andrew and Carla, and their mother, Paula Gillis; Deborah Ann Shatford; grandchildren, Courtney, Dominic, Haley, Mckenzie and Brooklyn; stepchildren, Janet, Mark and Charley Shatford and their children, Jennifer and Jasmine (his special girl); his sisters, Kimberly Moore (William) and Pamela Stackhouse (Steven); and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
His sister, Debbie Ann, and infant brother, Raymond, predeceased him.
Rested at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, N.B., (634-7424, www.brenansfh.com), with visitation on Monday.
The funeral service was held on Tuesday, August 29, 2006, at 11 a.m., at Brenan’s Chapel.
Interment will take place at the Bocabec Cemetery.

McGarry, M. Lenore
McGarry, M. Lenore - The death of M. Lenore McGarry, wife of the late John Thomas McGarry, occurred peacefully at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on Sept. 1, 2006. Born at St. George, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Edward and Mary Agnes O’Neill.
A loving mother, grandmother and sister, Lenore is survived by one son, John (Deanna) McGarry, of Fredericton, N.B.; two daughters, Pat (Donald) Southard, of St. George, N.B., and Jane (Stewart) Ingalls, of Quispamsis, N.B.; 10 grandchildren: Rosemary Southard (Richard Malone), Jill Southard, Jonathan Southard, Suzanne (Scott) Mowry, Julie (Mark) Paulin, Shelly (Scott) Armstrong, Patrick, Rachel, Eric and Anna McGarry; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Geraldine O’Neill, of Saint John, N.B.; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and by her special friends, Mary Eileen McCarten and Lorraine Leland.
She was predeceased by her husband, John; two brothers, James and Jack O’Neill; and one sister, Frances O’Neill.
Lenore was a hard working business woman for most of her life. She was a long time office employee with Eatons Ltd. She was an avid Bridge player, who was up for a good game whenever she could get the chance.
Rested at the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B. Visiting took place on Sunday from 2-4 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated from the St. George Roman Catholic Church, St. George, N.B., on Monday, Sept. 4, 2006 at 12 noon, with Fr. John M. Ighacho officiating.
Interment took place in the St. George’s Roman Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, donations may be made in Lenore’s name to the St. George Roman Catholic Church Building Fund, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Grant, Dorothy Jeanette
Grant, Dorothy Jeanette - The death of Dorothy Jeanette Grant of St. Stephen, N.B., occurred at Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006. Born May 2, 1939 in Little Ridge, N.B., she was the daughter of Rhoda Dickinson and the late James Dickinson.
She is survived by her husband, Hazen Grant; mother, Rhoda Dickinson; two daughters, Barbara Grant (Kenneth), and Roxanne Grant; two sons, Peter Grant (Patty), and Ronald Grant; chosen daughter, Lynette Fiander (Mark); four sisters, Shirley Stuart (Stillie), Kay Reid (Ken), Sheila Belliveau (Gerry), and Eleanor Simpson; grandchildren, Danny (Robin), Bradley (Candace), Jeremy, Daphne (Bob), Ashley and Courtney Grant, Andrew, Danny and Alex Reid; great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Hayley, Kayleigh, Gavin and Jason; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m., on Monday, Oct. 16, 2006 from the Kirk-McColl United Church, St. Stephen, with Rev. Dr. Mark Hatfield officiating.
Interment at the Old Ridge Cemetery.

Henry, Margaret Frances - At the Oromocto Public Hospital, Oromocto, N.B., on Sept. 2, 2006, Mrs. Margaret Frances Henry, formerly of St. George, N.B., wife of the late Charles Leroy Henry. Born at Isle of White, England, on April 6, 1905, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Margaret (Smith) Till.
Mrs. Henry is survived by four sons, Donald (Reta), of Kirkfield, Ont., Manferd (Eva), of Peterborough, Ont., Glenn (Ruby), of Scotchtown, N.B., and Gary (Lilla), of Ottawa, Ont.; two sisters, Amy Buchanan and Marion Kaulback, of Hamilton, Ont.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two daughters, Doris and Alice; two sisters, Jennie and Bessie; and one brother, Charles.
Rested at the St. Mark’s Anglican Church, St. George, N.B., from where the service was held on Monday, Sept. 4, 2006 at 3 p.m., with interment in the St. George Rural Cemetery.
Visiting was held at the church on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

MATHESON, Gordon MacLeod - At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., Oct. 16, 2006, Gordon MacLeod Matheson, husband of Doris R. Matheson, of Scotch Ridge, N.B. He was a member of the Carleton York Regiment.
Survived by his wife; three sons, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one sister, several nieces and nephews.

Interment at Scotch Ridge Cemetery.
