A Memorial Service to commemorate the life of Jim Davies will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at the Greenock Church, St. Andrews.
Roberts, Carole Marie
At Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., on Aug. 14, 2007, Carole Marie Roberts, of Valley Road, N.B.
Survived by her husband, Mike Kojic; her mother, Myra; and one brother, David.
Resting at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B., from where funeral service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007 at 2 p.m.
Interment at Moores Mills Rural Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Aug. 17, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
Frost, Karen Rose
The death of Ms. Karen Rose Frost occurred tragically at Oak Bay, N.B., on July 22, 2007. Born on June 7, 1962 in Blacks Harbour, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Hazen and Alda (Brown) Frost.
A loving mother and sister, Karen is survived by two sons, Neil Buchanan, of Saint John, N.B., and Ryan Buchanan, of Northwest Territories; one grandson, Ethan, of St. George, N.B.; three brothers, Wes (Ann) Anthony of St. Stephen, N.B., Danny Anthony, of Campobello, N.B., and Eugene Anthony of Saint John, N.B.; two sisters, Mary (Emery) Thorne, of Canal, N.B., and Jane Stevens (Bev Beach), of Fredericton, N.B.; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew, cousins and spouse, Wendall Buchanan.
Karen was predeceased by one granddaughter, Isabella Buchanan.
Karen was employed by Connor’s Bros. and previously by True North Salmon. She had competed and finished third in the sardine packing championships for three years in a row. She was a loving, caring and friendly individual with a warm personality.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B., from where the service will be held from The Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Gordon Cooke officiating.
The interment will follow at the St. George Rural Cemetery.
Visiting at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 24 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
In Karen’s memory, donations to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
MERRILL, Charlie Eldon
passed away peacefully at home in St. Catherines, Ont., after a long courageous battle with cancer, on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007 at the age of 75.
Survived by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Verna (Bartlett). He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Pat Metsala (Danny), daughter Marilyn Arsenault (Rene) and son, Dale (France). Beloved grampy to eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, with one on the way.
Charlie was the fifth of 12 children born to Jack and Dorothy Merrill of DeWolfe Corner, N.B.
Survived by brothers, Ross (Loreen), Nate (Kelly), Jack (Linda), sisters Lillian Mattsson (Larry), Nellie Cumberland (Dale) and Margaret Shannon (Gene), with many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by sisters, Verda Marsters (Ron), Ella McKay (Philip), Frances Adams (Jim), and brothers, Willis (Anne) and Orlen (Violet). He will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends for his views on politics, humorous stories and especially the one-liners that he continued to share with us through his tough battle.
Richardson, Joyce Elaine
Joyce Elaine Richardson, of St. Stephen, N.B., passed away peacefully at Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., on July 20, 2007. She was the daughter of the late Lowell Keene and Marjorie Leighton.
Survived by her husband, Elmer Richardson; children, Jeff (Sharon), Brian (Roxanne), Peter (Deanna), and Sandra (Dennis) McCaffrey; grandchildren, Joey, Jason, Jody, Megan, Brittney and Lainie; great- grandchildren, Hayley and Sophie; sister, Roberta McKeown; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her parents; brothers, Robert, Darrell and Arnold Keene; and stepfather, Edwin Leighton.
No visitation will be held by request.
A graveside service will be held at the St. Stephen Rural Cemetery, St. Stephen, N.B., on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at 2 p.m.

At Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., Aug. 19, 2007, Mary Rachel Watters, of St. Stephen, N.B. Daughter of the late Gregory M. and Sarah A. (Denver) Watters.
Survived by one sister, Margaret E. Watters, St. Stephen, N.B.; nephews, Greg Thompson (Linda), Bayside, N.B., and Philip Thompson (Christine), Bayside, N.B.; nieces, Margaret Thompson, St. Stephen, N.B. and Gail Smith (Steven), St. Andrews, N.B.; three grand- nephews, Greg Thompson, Jr. (Jennifer), Fredericton, N.B., Christian Thompson, Vancouver, B.C., and Michael Thompson, Fredericton, N.B.; one grandniece, Kimberly Hartlen (Terry), Windsor Junction, N.S.; two great-grand- nieces, Taylor Hartlen and Kristin Thompson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Union Street, St. Stephen, N.B. on Wednesday Aug. 22, 2007 at 10 a.m.
Interment at Milltown Roman Catholic Cemetery.

Thomas, David Peter
David Peter Thomas, beloved husband of Helen and loving father of Catherine and Rachel, died at home in St. Andrews, N.B., in the early hours of July 20, 2007 of colon cancer, aged 68. Peter was born in Manchester, England, of Welsh parents, David Edgar and Hannah Melvina.
A professor of English at UNB Fredericton for 28 years, Peter earned his first degrees at the University of Wales, Cardiff, and his PhD from the State University of New York. He and his wife immigrated to Canada in 1966.
A writer all his life, Peter published collections of poetry, a novel, works of literary criticism and several books on local history, notably Strangers from a Secret Land, nominated for the Governor General's Award in 1987. In 1980, Peter took over Fiddlehead Poetry Books from its founder, Fred Cogswell, and established a prose arm, Goose Lane Editions, today a highly-acclaimed publishing house.
He was an excellent athlete and avid salmon angler, teaching several good friends the art of fly fishing. Peter was an expert gardener and helped design, build and maintain gardens for both his daughters as well as for himself and his wife. A lover of opera, Peter enjoyed performances at several international opera houses and listened faithfully to Metropolitan broadcasts.
He will be much missed by his extended family and the many friends near and far who have supported him through his illness.
Survived by wife Helen (Price); daughters, Catherine and Rachel; son-in-law, Jerry Hamilton; sister-in-law, Janet Price and family, of California; and brother-in-law, Anthony Price and family, of Toronto.
In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
No visitation please; a Service of Remembrance will be held in St. Andrews in late September.

McCurdy, James Norman
James Norman McCurdy passed away tragically in the late hours of Saturday, July 21, 2007.
He worked many years in construction.
He is survived by four brothers, John McCurdy, Donald McCurdy (Elsie), Darrell McCurdy (Betty Nelson), and Alex McCurdy (Dora).
He was predeceased by his mother and father, Norma (Bell) and Jack McCurdy.
He also had three children: William James McCurdy (Katrina), Jacqueline Marie White (Jamie), and Vicki Evelyn Urquhart (Keith); along with six beautiful grandchildren.
There will be a graveside service on Saturday, July 28, 2007 at 11 a.m., at the St. Stephen Rural Cemetery. Friends and family welcome.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to the Fundy Region Transition House.

Thompson, Saunders Boles
Saunders Boles Thompson, of St. Stephen, N.B., passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., after a long battle with cancer.
She is survived by her husband, Brian Thompson; children, Sara (Patrick Zwicker), Emily (David) Somers, and Naomi (Greg Smith); grandchildren, Alder, Nola and Anna; brothers, Frank Boles, of Indianapolis, Ind., and Lester Boles, of Irmo, S.C.; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Saunders was a dedicated teacher at St. Stephen Elementary School for many years, and was well-liked and respected by both her peers and her students. She was funny, loyal, an avid reader, and loved to tell stories and make lists. Saunders was devoted to her family and friends and enjoyed spending time at the cottage.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 29, 2007 at 12 p.m. at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home in St. Stephen, N.B., and will be followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m.
