McMorran, Allen Blaney
Allen Blaney McMorran passed away at his residence, Heathland, Charlotte County, N.B., on Nov. 15, 2007. He was the husband of the late Sylvia Mae (Lowery) McMorran and the son of the late J. Blaney and Mabel Louise (Morrison) McMorran.
He is survived by two sons, Daniel (Amanda), of New Maryland, N.B., and Peter (Barb), of Fredericton, N.B.; one daughter, Sheila MacBeth (Robin), of Ripples, N.B.; grandchildren, Brittany and Molly MacBeth, Jenessa Daigle, Finn McMorran, Bon and Myles McMorran; three sisters, Marion Rusnell of Oshawa, Ont., Bessie Sauve (Ron), of Oshawa, Ont., and Thelma McMorran, St. Stephen, N.B.; three brothers, Franklin McMorran, of Old Ridge, N.B., James McMorran (Sharon), of Lincoln, N.B., and Windsor McMorran (Eadie), of Oshawa, Ont.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Jennifer, and two brothers, Jack and Jerry McMorran.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007 from 6-9 p.m., at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home, 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B.
A graveside service will be held at the Scotch Ridge Cemetery, Scotch Ridge, Charlotte County, N.B., on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007 at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
Brown, Edward Raye
Peacefully, at his residence at Pennfield, N.B., on Nov. 17, 2007, Mr. Edward Raye Brown, husband of the late Mrs. Olive (English) Brown. Born at Wilsons Beach, Campobello, N.B., on Dec. 6, 1915, Raye was a son of the late Willie and Gertrude (Ludlow) Brown.
A loving father, grandfather and uncle he is survived by two daughters, Rebecca (Bert) Anthony, of Pennfield, N.B., and Natalie (Morris) Harris, of Blacks Harbour, N.B.; four grandchildren, Andrew (Tammy) Anthony, of Pennfield, N.B., LeighAnn (Kenneth) Richardson, of Leonardville, N.B., Laura Harris (Jeff Tucker), of Musquash, N.B., and Brent Harris, of Sackville, N.B.; three great-grandchildren, Rachel Richardson, and Emily and Oliva Tucker; one sister- in-law, Louise Calder; two nephews, Edmond (Doreen) Calder, of Jemseg, N.B., and David (Heather) English, of Fredericton, N.B.
Raye was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Marine Squadron of the R.A.F. stationed at Point Doichin, Que., Halifax, N.S., and Shediac, N.B. He was a past president and life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 39 and past District Commander of St. Croix District. Raye was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing, as well as skeet shooting and curling. He was a past president of the St. George and Brunswick curling clubs. Raye was also an active member of the Liberal Party.
Prior to his retirement, Raye spent most of his working life around the water as a lighthouse keeper, working at Pea Point Light for a number of years, before going to work as wharf agent for Coastal Transport in Blacks Harbour, N.B.
Rested at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B., from where the service was held from The Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Keith Osborne officiating.
Interment followed at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery.
Visiting took place at the funeral home on Monday evening. A Royal Canadian Legion Tribute Service was held at the funeral home on Monday at 6:30 p.m.
In Raye’s memory, donations to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
Beach, Mary Leona
Mary Leona (Lovelace) Beach, 74, of St. Stephen, N.B., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007 in the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen. Born in Wolfville, N.S., she was a daughter of the late Leland and Cecilia (Arenburg) Lovelace. She attended King’s County Academy and Mount St. Vincent University. She attended Macks Business College and worked at Household Finance. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church where she taught Sunday school and was also a member of the CWL for many years.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Fred; daughter, Mary Lee, Kentville, N.S.; two sons, Robert (Donna), St. Stephen and Kevin, Oakville, Ont.; two grandsons; Sheldon and Brandon; brother-in-law, Bruce Campbell, Kentville, N.S.; one niece, Leslie Campbell-Palmer (Andrew), Kentville, N.S.; one nephew, Scott Campbell, Halifax, N.S.; great-niece, Moriah Campbell, Halifax, N.S.; great-nephew, Matthew Campbell, Halifax, N.S.; cousins, Cathy Taillefer and Celine Hertzog, both of Montreal, Que., Marilyn Carter and Delores MacKenzie both of Ontario.
She was predeceased by her sister, Dorothy Campbell.
Rested at the S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main St., St. Stephen, N.B. Visiting hours were held on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Union St., St. Stephen, N.B., on Friday, Nov. 23, 2007 at 11 a.m. with Rev. William Weiss and Rev. Paul Riley officiating.
Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Kentville, N.S.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the N.B. Right to Life Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of ones choice would be appreciated by the family.
Watson, Agnes Sara
At Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., Nov. 19, 2007, Agnes Sarah Watson, widow of Paul T. Watson, of Dufferin, Charlotte County, N.B.
Survived by daughter, Paulette Johnson, Dufferin, N.B.; three grandchildren, Crystal Stuart (Kevin), Dufferin, N.B., Mark Johnson (Rhonda), Moores Mills, N.B., Debbie Johnson, St. Stephen, N.B.; three great-grandchildren, Neil Johnson, Fredericton, N.B., Seth Johnson, St. Stephen, N.B., Kylie Johnson, Moores Mills, N.B.; half sister, Connie, Bangor, Me.; and one niece, Carla Corbett, Woodland, Me.
Predeceased by grandson, Kevin Johnson and brother, Carleton Moores.
No visitation will be held by request.

Vail, Roger Everett
It is with great sadness that the family of Roger Everett Vail announce his sudden passing in Prince Albert, Sask., on Nov. 19, 2007.
Born in St. Stephen, N.B., on Dec. 6, 1946, Roger was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed the outdoors tremendously. Roger was a 15 year member of the Canadian Armed Forces and traveled the world as a submariner with the navy. After leaving the navy, Roger held various positions, the last being a counselor for those suffering from drug and alcohol addiction. While in this position he was highly thought of and regarded as a true friend to those he assisted in finding a new life.
He leaves behind his mother, Constance Watters, of St. Stephen and a sister, Linda (Doug) Doucette, of Cumberland Bay, N.B.; nephew Lane Doucette, of Prince George, B.C.; special aunts, Dorothy Keddy, Barbara Boone, Enid Vail and many cousins as well as his long time Prince Albert friend, Ken McCormick.
He was predeceased by his father, Phillip Vail.
No formal service will be held.
Family and close friends will be notified of a private celebration of Roger’s life when final preparations are complete.
Rees, Diana
Diana Rees (1939-2007) died on Nov. 19, 2007 quietly at home, after a brave and spirited struggle with ALS.
Born in Prince Albert, Sask., she was educated at the University of Saskatchewan and the College of Librarianship at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. After a career as a school librarian, she came to St. Andrews in 1983 as owner and operator of the Sea Captain’s Loft. She was deeply interested in textiles and design, and after her retirement she completed a biography of Grace Helen Mowat, the founder of Charlotte County Cottage Craft.
While in business Diana was an active member of the St. Andrews Chamber of Commerce, and also served on the board of Charlotte County Hospice.
She is survived by her mother, Mildred Collins; husband, Ronald; son, Matthew; daughter-in-law, Karen; and granddaughters, Morgan and Erin.
Throughout her illness, Diana received exemplary medical care and support from the dedicated staff of the Charlotte County Extra-Mural Program.
Memorial service in celebration of Diana’s life will be held on Sun., Dec. 9, 2007 at 3 p.m., at Wesley United Church, 77 William Street, St. Andrews, N.B. Rev. Bob Johnson officiating.
If desired, a memorial contribution to the Extra-Mural Program Foundation, St. Stephen Unit, or the ALS Society of Canada would be greatly appreciated.

Bagley, Frank Thurston
Frank Thurston Bagley, husband of the late Elizabeth (Brown) Bagley, passed away at his home in Danvers, Mass., on Nov. 20, 2007. Born on Grand Manan Island, N.B., Sept. 4, 1926, he was a son of the late Cecil and Mary (Flagg) Bagley.
Frank worked many years as a self-employed carpenter, then 15 years in the maintenance department at Gordon College.
He was very active in his church as deacon, minister of the church in Everett, and longtime volunteer and supporter of the Billy Graham Crusades. He also conducted services at the Harbourside Twin Oaks Nursing Home in Danvers.
Frank is survived by his godchild, Linda Ward, of Salisbury, Mass.; one brother, Angus Bagley, of Salisbury, N.B.; 10 sisters: Beatrice Hockley, Ontario, Eunice Tate, Grand Manan, N.B., Bernice Hall, Massachusetts, Myrtle Dow, Grand Manan, N.B., Nina Lee, Chamcook, N.B., Isabelle (Gene) Guptill, Marcia (Wendell) Cook, Gwendolyn Green, and Natalie Urquhart, all of Grand Manan, N.B., and Sheila (Vance) Fiander, St. Stephen, N.B.; several nieces and nephews.
Christie, Marvin Edward
At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on Nov. 28, 2007, Marvin Edward Christie, husband of Sylvia (Watters) Christie, of Old Bay Road, St. Stephen, N.B.
Survived by his wife; one son, Allen (Tina) Christie, of Saint John, N.B.; one daughter, Vanessa Christie (Aubrey), of Toronto, Ont.; one granddaughter, Aliyah Christie; one brother, Arthur Christie, Canso, N.S.; one sister, Sarah Christie, St. Stephen, N.B.; and several nieces and nephews.

Lahey, Hazel Ruth
Hazel Ruth Lahey (1910 – 2007) passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., on Monday, Nov. 26, 2007. Born in Woodwards Cove, N.B., she was the daughter of the late George and Hattie (Willigar) Ingersoll.
Hazel worked with her husband, Wilfred, at their general store in North Head, Grand Manan, until his passing in 1969, and then she went on to take the position of Dean of Women at St. Thomas University from 1971 until her retirement in 1990. She was a member of the Church of the Ascension and was very active with Sunday school programs and the Ladies Guild.
Survived by her two daughters, Mary (Norman) Stewart, of Pennfield, N.B., and Pamela (Fraser) Forsythe, of Millidgeville, N.B.; one sister, Twilah Leonard, of South West Harbour, Me.; 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Wilfred; one son, Burton; four sisters, Erma Carter, Viola Lahey, Marjorie Guptill and Lois Brown; as well as five brothers; Maurice, Richard (Dick), Sherwood, Kerman, and Weldon.
The family received friends and relatives at Ells Funeral Home on Thursday.
The funeral service will be held from the Church of the Ascension on Friday, Nov. 30, 2007 at 1 p.m., with Rev. Captain Dana Dean officiating.
Interment will follow at the North Head Community Cemetery.
There will be a reception to follow at the Covert Hall and all are welcome to attend following the service.
Donations may be made to the Hazel Lahey Memorial Award St. Thomas University, and also the Church of the Ascension Memorial Fund.
