McGlinchey, William Robert

At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on March 2, 2008, William Robert McGlinchey, husband of Dorothy E. (Holliday) McGlinchey, of Elmsville, N.B.
Survived by his wife; one son, Jeffrey Dean (Charlene), Johnson Settlement, N.B.; two daughters, Christina Dawn Turnbull (Donald), Elmsville, N.B., and Jill Deanne McAllen (James), Greenock, Charlotte Co., N.B.; six grandchildren, Rob, Mark, Jeffrey, Mathew, Laura and Patricia; one great-granddaughter, Lauren; one brother, George (Marlene), Ontario; several nieces and nephews.
No visitation will be held by request.
Funeral service will be held at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B., on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at 2 p.m.
Interment at Christ Church Cemetery, Elmsville, N.B., in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Cancer Society or charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Dionne, Margaret Hannah

Margaret Hannah (Riley) Dionne, in her 104th year, at Lincourt Manor, St. Stephen, N.B., on April 4, 2008. Born in Johnville, Carleton County, N.B., March 13, 1905, she was a daughter of the late William and Priscilla (Hourahan) Riley; widow of Adolphus C. Dionne.
Survived by sons, Adolphus (Barbara) Dionne, of St. Stephen, N.B., Patrick (Phyllis) Dionne, of Washington State, U.S.A.; John (Patricia) Dionne, of St. Stephen, N.B., and Michael (Juliette) Dionne, of Toronto, Ont.; daughters, Marion Enman and Audrey Cormier (Art), Saint John, N.B.; one sister, Edna Leroy, Coburg, Ont.
Predeceased by one daughter, Priscilla Morey; one grandson, Victor Enman, Jr., one granddaughter, Catherine Figura; two stepsons, Joseph and Walter Dionne; one stepdaughter, Frances Mayr; one stepgrandson, Joseph; five brothers: Frank, Gerard, Earl, William and Aloysius; four sisters: Veronica, Mary, Eileen and Ursula.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Union Street, St. Stephen, N.B., on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at 11 a.m.
Visiting hours will be held at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B. on Tuesday, April 8, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Interment in Milltown Roman Catholic Cemetery, St. Stephen, N.B.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Larkin, Francis Michael

At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., on April 3, 2008, Francis Philip Larkin of Union Street, St. Stephen, N.B.; born in St. Stephen, son of the late Francis Michael and Annie Florence (Hinchy) Larkin.
Survived by his wife, Marion Lois (Douglas) Larkin; sister-in-law, Ruth Douglas, of Saint John, N.B.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Francis served faithfully as a Lay Minister for Holy Rosary and St. Stephens parishes for many years.
Francis was a member of Council 6507 Knights of Columbus, St. Stephen. He was employed with J. Clark and Son Ltd., and later as Supervisor at Customs Revenue Agency until his retirement.
He was a veteran of the Second World War, having served in Canada and twice overseas, processing the troops returning to Canada.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at 12 noon at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Union Street, St. Stephen, N.B.
Interment in Milltown Catholic Cemetery.
Visiting hours were held from The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B., on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Ramsdell, Carolyn Donna

At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on April 7, 2008, Carolyn Donna Ramsdell, wife of L. Robert Ramsdell, of Mayfield, N.B.; daughter of the late Eileen (Kettlewell) Wade, of Toronto, Ont.
Survived by her husband, Bob;
several stepchildren, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
No visitation will be held by request.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

Spires, Leicester Knight

Leicester (Lester) Knight Spires (1918 - 2008), 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday mornig, March 29, 2008, at Granite Ridge Manor, Stittsville, Ont. Leicester was born on Friday, Dec. 27, 1918, at the family home in New River Beach, N.B., son of the late Florence Edna (Murphy) and Stephen John Spires.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Leicester was the last surviving member of his family. Leicester Knight Spires and Eva Mary (Gowan) were united in marriage on Thursday evening, July 8, 1943, by Rev. J. Edison Lane at Christ Church Anglican, Elmsville, N.B.
Survived by his wife, Eva Mary, of Ottawa, Ont.; four sons: Meryl Leicester Spires, Frederick Ivan Spires and wife, Margaret Rita (LaForce), Michael Hazen Spires and wife, Sheila Ann (Burr), and Harold Francis Spires and wife, Penelope Anne (Arbuckle), all of Ottawa, Ont.; one daughter, Winnifred Anne Spires, Ottawa, Ont.; special grandchildren: Miguel John Andre Bernard Spires, Kimberely Ann (Smith) LaForest, Kenneth James Smith, Karen Ann (Smith) Anderson, Kerry Ann Spires, Kimberly Joan Spires, Joy Kathleen Eva (Spires) Godfrey, Mark Edwin Spires, Ryan Matthew Spires, Lindsay Margaret Spires, Shawn Michael Wright, Erin Anne Wright and Matthew Richard Spires; five great-grandchildren: Carson Montgomery Spires, Payton Henry Spires, Mackenzie Marie Chisholm-Spires, Braedon Matthew Spires and Joshua Matthew Knight Spires; sister-in-law, Alberta Kathryn (Jarvis), wife of the late Vincent Chipman Spires, of St. Stephen, N.B.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Predeceased by his parents, Stephen John Spires (Feb. 3, 1980) and Florence Edna (June 11, 1981); five brothers: Maurice Stephen Spires (July 21, 1943), Vincent Chipman Spires (Aug. 28, 1962), Maynard Russell Spires (April 27, 1985), Melvin Hedley Spires (Jan. 15, 1997), and Arthur Hazen Spires (Dec. 17, 2004); twin daughters, Margaret Spires (June 29, 1947) and Mary Spires (June 29, 1947); and one special cousin, Myrtle Jean (Scott), Mrs. Richard Everett Denley (June 11, 1995).
Rested at Tubman Funeral Home, 3440 Richmond Road, Ottawa, Ont., with visitation held on Monday, March 31.
Funeral services were held from St. Richard’s Anglican Church, 9 Rossland Ave., Ottawa, Ont., on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. Michael Fleming officiating. Pallbearers were special grandchildren: Kenneth James Smith, Mark Edwin Spires, Ryan Mtthew Spires, Shawn Michael Wright, Joy Kathleen Eva (Spires) Godfrey, and Matthew Richard Spires.
Interment in Capital Memorial Gardens, Otttawa, Ont.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, or a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Scott, Rodney “Brent”

Rodney “Brent” Scott, 61, died Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Calais Regional Hospital, Calais, Me. Brent was born in Calais, Me., on March 14, 1947, son of Gordon Scott and Winifred (Fickett) Hart.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. For many years, Brent was employed as a millwright for Georgia Pacific. He married Mary McGuire in Baileyville, Me., on March 15, 1985.
Brent enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycles and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are his loving wife of 23 years, Mary Scott; his father, Gordon Scott. of Baileyville, Me.; his mother, Winifred Hart, of Baileyville, Me.; one daughter, Janel Scott, of Baileyville, Me.; two stepsons, G. Andrew Getchell, of St. George, N.B., and Christopher Getchell (Patti Spens) of Halifax, N.S.; a sister, Sharon Simpson and her husband, David, of Berwick, Me.; a brother, Francis Scott and his wife, Annette, of Baileyville, Me.; two granddaughters, Ashley and Ariel Glodowski of Wisconsin; a very special grandson, Dylan Chase Getchell, of St. George, N.B.; his mother-in-law, Margaret McGuire, of St. Andrews, N.B.; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
He was predeceased by a son, Phillip Gordon Scott.
A Celebration of Brent’s Life will be held at a later date.

Haggerty, Dorothy May

At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., on April 3, 2008, Mrs. Dorothy May (Brown) Haggerty, wife of the late Earl Frances Haggerty, of New River, N.B. Born at Campobello, N.B., on August 20, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Elsie (Carter) Brown.
A loving mother, grandmother,
sister and aunt, Dorothy is survived by three daughters; Judy (Bob) Frost, of Second Falls, N.B., Elsie (Donald) McCurdy, of New River, N.B., and Becky Cox, of Edmonton, Alta.; three sons, Earl (Brenda) Haggerty, of Lower Sackville, N.S., Douglas Haggerty, of Grand Prairie, Alta., and Steven (Heather) Haggerty, of Saint John, N.B.; 14 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; four sisters: Adrianne (Michael) Cline, of Campobello, N.B., Marie Murphy, of St. Stephen, N.B., Florence (Phil) Miller, of Lubec, Me., and Hazel Newman, also of Maine; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her huband, she is predeceased by sisters: Marjorie, May, Julia and Beatrice; and brothers: Clyde, Ernest, Harold, Harry and Ralph.
Dorothy was an avid bingo player and loved spending time with her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B., from where the service was held from The Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Sunday, April 6, 2008 at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. Bruce Alcorn and Rev. Calvin MacDonald officiating.
Interment will take place at the Lepreau Community Cemetery at a later date.
Visiting was held at the funeral home on Saturday.
In Dorothy’s memory, donations to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

James, John Donald

The death of John Donald James occurred at the Royal Alexandria Hospital, Edmonton, Alta., on Friday, April 4, 2008. He was born on March 13, 1919, a son of the late Thomas and Annie (Mowatt) James.
Don is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lois Barbara (Reynolds) James; one son, Brian; and five grandchildren, Brandee, Peper, Bradley, Michael and Laura, all of the Edmonton area.
Service was held at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B., on Thursday, April 10, 2008.
Interment at the St. Stephen Rural Cemetery at a later date.

Oliver, Roger Lee

Roger Lee Oliver lost his battle with cancer at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on April 10, 2008.
Survived by his mother, Lillian (Oliver) Mogg, of St. Stephen, N.B.; sister, Brenda (Robinson) Small, of Grand Manan, N.B.; several nieces and nephews.
Roger’s love of long haul trucking led him across every province in Canada and every state in the United States, except for two. He also enjoyed restoring older vehicles and personalizing his last two new vehicles. His smiling face will be missed by his friends who knew him from coast to coast.
Visiting hours were held at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B., on Sunday April 13, 2008 from 1 to 2 p.m., with a graveside service immediately following at the Moores Mills Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Charlotte County Cancer Society, P.O. Box 292, St. Stephen, NB E3L 2X2, would be appreciated by the family.
