Johnson, Myrle Robert

of St. Stephen, N.B., died July 6, 2008, at the age of 93 at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., with his wife and sons at his side.
He is survived by his wife, Esther; sons, Royden (Sheila), Brockville, Ont., and Eugene, St. Stephen, N.B.; seven grandchildren, eight great- grandchildren; one brother, Ralph (Beatrice), British Columbia; three sisters, Rachel Bartlett, St. Stephen, N.B., Gloria Leighton, Woodland, Me., and Ruth Johnson, St. Stephen, N.B.; several nieces and nephews.
Resting at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B., from where funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 2 p.m.
Interment at Rollingdam United Church Cemetery, Rollingdam, N.B.
Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon only, from 2 to 5 p.m., and Wednesday 12 to 2 p.m. There will be no visitation for Mr. Johnson on Tuesday evening.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Mehan, Barbara Russell

At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B, on July 7, 2008, Barbara Russell Mehan, widow of Elmer C. Mehan, of St. Stephen, N.B.; daughter of the late Percy T. and Mona G. (Breen) Hatfield.
Survived by her children: David Mehan (Debbie), Honolulu, Hawaii, Deidre Merrill, Jacksonville, Fla.,
J. Terry Mehan (Darlene), Scotch Ridge, N.B., Peggy McIntyre (David), Saint John, N.B., and Bill Mehan (Carol), St. David Ridge, N.B.; 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Erroll Hatfield (Carolyn), Rothesay, N.B., and Allan Hatfield, Oakville, Ont.; several nieces and nephews.
Resting at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B., from where funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 2 p.m.
Interment at Scotch Ridge United Church Cemetery, Scotch Ridge, N.B.
Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 9, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to Shriners Hospital or charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Ross, Peter Charles

At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., on July 6, 2008, Peter Charles Ross, of Canal, N.B.; son of the late George and Elsie (Scott) Ross.
Survived by two daughters, Tammy Jo Ross, Pennfield, N.B., and Patricia Ross (Bradley Monks), Canal, N.B.; one grandson, Dustin; two brothers, Andy (Martha) Ross and Donnie Ross; two sisters, Sandra Cox (Jay), and Sylvia Laporte; nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by one brother, Michael Ross.
No visitation will be held by request.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 11 a.m., at the Upper Mills Cemetery, Upper Mills, N.B.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Stevens, Albert Alden Bell

Unexpectedly at his woodlot at Canal, N.B., on July 1, 2008, Mr. Albert Alden Bell Stevens of Canal, N.B. Born at Blacks Harbour, N.B., on April 30, 1959, he was a son of Alden and Eugenia (Tinker) Stevens.
A loving son, brother and uncle, Albert is survived by his parents, Alden and Eugenia; one sister, Amber (Anton) Sentse, of Basswood Ridge, N.B.; one brother, Ashley Stevens, of Canal, N.B.; special niece, Ella Sentse, of Basswood Ridge N.B., and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Albert was always working on his woodlot and various construction jobs throughout the Atlantic provinces, with drilling and blasting as his trade. Albert was an avid hunter, he especially enjoyed moose hunting with his friends. His Thursday nights were usually spent at the St. George Curling Club playing 63s with his many friends.
Rested at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B., from where the service was held from the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Friday, July 4, 2008 with interment following at the St. George Rural Cemetery.
Visitation was at the funeral home on Thursday.
In Albert’s memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Stuart, Hibbert Read

The death of Hibbert Read Stuart occurred on Sunday, July 6, 2008, at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B. Hibbert was born in Saint John, N.B., on May 7, 1911, the son of Linnie (Ross) and Frank Stuart.
Hibbert is survived by two daughters, Beverley (Wayne) Doherty, of Quispamsis, N.B., and Martha (David) Nutbrown, of Halifax, N.S.; one brother, David, of Ottawa, Ont.; three grandchildren, Douglas (Diane) Boyle, of Rothesay, N.B., David (Melissa) Boyle, of Sausalito, Calif., and Elizabeth Doherty, of Fredericton, N.B.; two great-grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Laura (Tulk); daughter, Lynn Boyle; as well as brothers, Ross and Frank, and sister, Helen Jamesion.
Hibbert graduated from Saint John High School in 1929. He worked for the G.E. Barbour Co. for many years, both in Saint John and St. Stephen. He later became the administrator of the Charlotte County Hospital. After his retirement from the hospital, he worked for Fred McCain, MLA, as his constituency secretary. In his late seventies, he resumed his role as the administrator of the Charlotte County Hospital for a period of nine months.
Hibbert was a member of Christ Church serving as both treasurer and warden. He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club, St. Stephen Home and School Association, and the St. Croix Golf and Country Club. He was a founding member of the board that established Lincourt Manor Nursing Home. Over the years, Hibbert served on many other boards and community groups.
Hibbert had a wide circle of friends and was known for his great sense of humour and love of animals. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the SPCA or the Animal Rescue League, or Lincourt Manor, would be appreciated by the family.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at 2 p.m., from The S.O. Mehan and Son Funeral Home in St. Stephen, N.B.
Interment at the St. Stephen Rural Cemetery.
A reception will follow at Trinity Hall, Christ Church, St. Stephen, where Hibbert’s family will be pleased to greet friends and family.

Waycott, (Mahar) Lillian Helen

Lillian Helen (Blondie) (Mahar) Waycott passed away peacefully on July 12, 2008 in Calais, Maine. She was born on April 22, 1928 in Utopia, N.B. She was the wife of the late Norman Waycott, Sr.
She is survived by her children: Judy (Raleigh) Barry, of L’Etete, N.B., Robert (Ann) Waycott, Paul (Sharon) Waycott, of Calais, Me., Susie (Gerald) Brown, of Alberta, Gale Waycott of Me., June (Ronald) Kinney, of St. Stephen, N.B. and Cindy (Phil), of Princeton, Me.; brother, Jack Mahar; sisters, Marion Mahar, Irene Stewart, Ann Nolan and June Kingston, sister-in-law, Ola Mahar; 29 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Matilda Mahar; her infant son, Daniel; brother, Tom Mahar; sisters, Mae Mahar and Blanche Breau; stepson, Norman Waycott, Jr.; grandsons, Daniel Waycott and Philip Waycott and granddaughters, Helen, Nancy and Tina Waycott.
A service will be held at the Second Baptist Church in Calais, Me., on July 18, 2008 at 2 p.m. (U.S.)
In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, remembrances made to the charity of one’s chice would be appreciated by the family.

Cheney, Wilbert “Wib” Manson

At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., on July 8, 2008, Wilbert "Wib" Manson Cheney, husband of Mrs. A. Pearl (Hobbs) Cheney, of Pennfield, N.B. Born at Grand Harbour, Grand Manan, N.B., on Nov. 27, 1921, he was a son of the late Austin and Leona (Allen) Cheney.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, he is survived by his wife, Pearl; three sons: Vance (Emily) Cheney, of St. Stephen, N.B., Carl Cheney and Brian (Sonja) Cheney, both of Pennfield, N.B.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one half-sister, Maude Morse, of Grand Manan, N.B.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Lysle Cheney.
Before his retirement, Wib worked for Connors Bros. for a number of years. In 1967 he went to work at the new Blacks Harbour arena, where he was employed for more than 20 years as caretaker and arena manager.
Wib will always be remembered as a hard worker who spent many weekends and weekdays running the day-to-day operation of the arena and who could be seen circling the ice on the Zamboni and sharpening hundreds of pairs of skates for many youths and adults throughout the area. Wib also enjoyed woodworking and taking nature walks.
Rested at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B., from where the service was held from the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Bruce Alcorn officiating.
Visiting was held at the funeral home on Wednesday.
In Wib’s memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Styles, Colin Bruton

At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on July 9, 2008, Colin Bruton Styles, of Blacks Harbour, N.B., husband of the late Mrs. Elizabeth (Jackson) Styles. Born at Brentford, Middlesex, England on June 3, 1912, he was the son of the late Elizabeth Ada Styles.
A loving father and grandfather, he is survived by his daughter, Ruth (David) Balfour, of Bethel, N.B.; four grandchildren: Jill Russell (Rick Spencer), of Saint John, N.B., Paul (Anita) Balfour, of Markham, Ont., Michael (Nina) Balfour, of Whitby, Ont., and Lorraine (Stephen) McGuigan, of Canal, N.B.; eight great-grandchildren, and one great- great-grandson.
Colin loved walking and making his daily trips to Hooper’s Convenience in Blacks Harbour, as well as doing his many chores throughout the village. He enjoyed gardening and was frequently seen tending to his lawn and flowers at his home in Blacks Harbour.
Prior to his retirement and arrival in Canada, Colin was employed by the British Railway as a railway supervisor.
A service of remembrance was celebrated from the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B., on Monday, July 14, 2008 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Mary Ann Langmaid officiating. Interment followed at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery.
In Colin’s memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Lord, Alan James

Unexpectedly, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., on Sept. 3, 2008, Alan James Lord, husband of Catherine (McCumber) Lord, of Fairhaven, N.B. Born at Blacks Harbour, N.B., on Jan. 4, 1959, he was a son of James Lord and the late Janice (Martin) Lord.
A loving husband, father, son and brother, Alan is survived by his loving wife, Catherine; one son, Leigh Lord, of Fairhaven, N.B.; his father, James (Ina) Lord, of Fairhaven, N.B.; two brothers, Daniel (Liana) Lord and Thomas (Christa) Lord, both of Fairhaven, N.B.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his mother, Janice.
Alan was a self employed fisherman who loved what he did for a living. He enjoyed being on the water and spending time with his family.
By Alan’s request, no visitation will be held.
A graveside service took place on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008 at 2 p.m., at the Fairhaven Community Cemetery at Calder’s Head, N.B., with Rev. Maurice Hatfield officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
