Upton, Ronald V.
MKCS Ronald V. Upton (USCG, Ret.), 62, of Cherryfield, Me., died Dec. 22, 2008. Ron (Vern) was born June 6, 1946 at North Head, Grand Manan, N.B., the son of Percy G. and Nellie (Weaver) Upton. He moved to Eastport, Me., in 1959 where he attended Shead Memorial High School. In 1964, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. He retired in 1985 as an MKCS - Senior Chief Machinery Technician - after 20 years of service to his country. After his retirement, he worked at several local area businesses.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy (Brown) Upton, of Cherryfield, Me.; sons, Ron Jr. and wife, Ana, of Yorktown, Va., Jarrod, of Newport News, Va., and Joshua, of Hampton, Va.; and two very special grandsons, Brody and Milo Upton. He is also survived by a brother, Russell Upton and wife, Joyce, of Stittsville, Ont.; sisters, Lorraine Ingalls, of Oshawa, Ont., and Dawn Frankland and husband, Burton, of Whitehead, N.B.; a stepbrother, Clark Sherman and wife, Susan, of Bingham, Me.; two brothers-in-law, Larry Brown and family, and Michael Brown and family, both of Cherryfield, Me., and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service with military honors was held at the Cherryfield Elementary School, Cherryfield, Me., on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009 at 11 a.m.

Butler, Carroll Wetmore
At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B. on Feb. 3, 2009, Mr. Carroll Wetmore Butler, of Stuart Town, Deer Island, N.B. Born at Deer Island on Dec. 5, 1930, he was the son of the late Audley and Frances (Lambert) Butler.
A loving brother, uncle and friend, Carroll is survived by one sister, Norma Leslie, of Blacks Harbour, N.B., and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Ethel Wheeler.
Carroll was a carpenter and boatbuilder by trade, who worked most of his life on Deer Island. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He was a friend to all who knew him and a "father" to many.
By his request, there will be no
visitation or funeral service.
In Carroll’s memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Morrow, David Roy
At Flume Ridge, N.B., on Feb. 8, 2009, David Roy Morrow, husband of Beverley A. (Gayton) Morrow, of St. David Ridge, N.B.; son of Jean Morrow and the late George Morrow.
David was a co-owner of Milltown Trucking and O.K. Tire & Auto Service.
Survived by his wife, Beverley; son, Cory, and daughter, Ami, both at home; his mother, Jean, of Oak Bay, N.B.; brothers, Doug (Barb), of Tower Hill, N.B., and Raymond, of Oak Bay, N.B.; sister-in-law, Brenda Hyslop (John), Barter Settlement, N.B.; brother-in-law, James Gayton (Sharon), Barter Settlement, N.B.; special cousin and best friend, Neil Morrow (Laura Ann Morehouse), Oak Bay, N.B.; nieces and nephews, Jessica Morrow, Shawn and J.J. Hyslop, Jamie, Alison and Aaron Gayton, Mandi and Jodi Milligan, Becky, Shawna and Derek Morrow,; several great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Resting at his residence, 26 St. David Ridge Road, St. David Ridge, N.B., with visitation on Wednesday, Feb. 11, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral service will be held at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B., on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009 at
2 p.m.
Interment at Oak Bay Rural Cemetery.

At Montmagny Hospital, Montmagny, Que., on Feb. 4, 2009, Patricia Kathryn (Irving) Gibson, wife of Charles W. Gibson, of St. Stephen, N.B.; daughter of Florence L. Irving and the late John A. Irving.
Survived by her husband, Charlie; son, Michael Dougherty, Montreal, Que.; daughter, Sonia Dougherty, St. Stephen, N.B.; her mother, Florence, St. Stephen, N.B.; stepson, Stephen Gibson, and stepdaughter; Mary-Beth Sharpe (Joseph), both of St. Stephen, N.B.; grandchildren, Joshua, Nikolas and Khloe Dougherty, Xavyier Gibson-Dougherty, step-grandson, Michael Sharpe; brothers and sisters, Linda Fraser (Rodney), Miramichi, N.B., Marilyn Irving, St. Stephen, N.B., Arnold Irving (Cheryle), St. Stephen, N.B., Carol Irving (Brent Brewer), Riceville, N.B., Jim Irving (Michele), Machias, Me., Teresa Theriault (Mike), St. Stephen, N.B., and Chris Irving (Sue), St. Stephen, N.B.; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Hooper, Evelyn Lois
Unexpectedly at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on Jan. 11, 2009, Evelyn Lois (Matthews) Hooper, wife of the late Arthur Hooper, formerly of L’Etete, N.B. Born at L’Etang, N.B., on Nov. 8, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Floyd and Vera (Leavitt) Matthews.
A loving mother, grandmother and sister, she is survived by one son, Lanny Hooper (Panda Bryant), of Back Bay, N.B.; one granddaughter, Tracy Hooper; and one great-granddaughter, Shauna Hooper, both of Saint John, N.B.; one sister, Valores (Daniel) Simpson, of L’Etete, N.B.; and one niece, Debbie Simpson-Walker of Halifax, N.S.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband and one son, Farrell.
In keeping with Evelyn’s wishes, there will be no visitation.
A graveside service will be held at the St. George Rural Cemetery in the spring.

MacVicar, Milton Isaac
Unexpectedly, at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on Jan. 10, 2009, Milton Isaac MacVicar, husband of Alice (Adams) (Darke) MacVicar, of Bonny River, N.B. Born at Canal, N.B., on Aug. 24, 1916, he was a son of the late Archibald and Annie (Campbell) MacVicar.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, in addition to his wife, Alice, he is survived by one daughter, Beth Delong (Herb Bartlett), of Old Ridge, N.B.; two granddaughters, Carla Delong, of St. Stephen, N.B., and Natalie (Kelly) Steen, of Canal, N.B.; four great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Joshua, Jennifer and Merven; two great-great-grandchildren, Hannah and Peyton; two step-children, Allison and Beth Darke, both of Deer Island, N.B.; three sisters-in-law, Geraldine Kinney, Lila Chambers and Hazel Walsh; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Milton was predeceased by his first wife, Blanche Mae (Kinney) MacVicar; one son in infancy; one son-in-law, Carl Delong; one stepson, Greg; one stepdaughter, Donna; and two sisters, Marion MacVicar and Myrtle Henderson.
Milton was owner/operator of his own mill for many years. He was a veteran of the Second World War, having served with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps in both Holland and Germany. He was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 40 in St. George. Milton was also a member of the Second Falls United Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon for more then 40 years. He loved woodworking and taking drives with Alice, as well as eating out at restaurants.
Rested at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B., where visiting was held on Sunday and Monday.
The service will be held from the Second Falls United Baptist Church, Second Falls, N.B., on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Reg Ward officiating.
Interment will be held at the church cemetery in the spring.

Parks, Mildred Lillian
At the Passamaquoddy Lodge Nursing Home, St. Andrews, N.B., following a brief illness, on Feb. 5, 2009, Mrs. Mildred Lillian (Leavitt) Parks, wife of the late Tilley Beecher Parks, formerly of St. George, N.B. Born at Blacks Harbour, N.B., on Nov. 27, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Wesley and Mildred (Bradford) Leavitt.
A loving mother, grandmother and sister, Mildred is survived by five sons: Jim (Shirley) Parks, Richard (Sally) Parks, Larry (Bonnie) Parks and Mike Parks, all of St. George, N.B., and Bobby (Penny) Parks, of St. Stephen, N.B.; one daughter, Brenda Hanley (Barry Logan), of Saint John, N.B.; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, five brothers: Herbie (Rose) Leavitt, of St. George, N.B., Vance Leavitt, of Pennfield, N.B., Frank (Mavis) Leavitt, of Beaver Harbour, N.B., Wesley Leavitt, of Blacks Harbour, N.B., and Keith (Alice) Leavitt, of Breadalbane, N.B., and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, Tilley, Mildred was predeceased by one daughter, Lori, and by two sisters, Norma Brown and Joyce Hanson.
Mildred enjoyed travelling, especially her trips to Ontario. Two years ago she was finally able to visit Jasper, Alta., and the Canadian Rockies. She was an avid fan of Jeopardy and gave a lifetime of loving care to her son Michael.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B., from where the service was held from The Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Andrew Regich officiating.
The interment will be held at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery in the spring.
Visiting was held at the funeral home on Saturday.

Savage, Malcolm David
Malcolm David Savage died, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Jan. 10, 2009, surrounded by his family who provided him with incredible care during his illness. David, the first of five children, was born on May 15, 1943 in Darlington, England to Ethelbert (Ep) and Doreen (Wilkinson) Savage.
David grew up on Campobello Island, N.B., and after high school he served in the Canadian Air Force before returning to Campobello Island, where raised his family and continued the family tradition as a lifelong fisherman, working with many family members during his life.
He is survived by his six children: Terri Brown (Donald), Susan MacFeat (Jim), Angela Stuart (Joe), Andrew Savage (Heather), Kim Savage, and David Ryan Savage; his six grandchildren: Jim and Molly Brown, Erica and Heather MacFeat, and Brett and Jessica Stuart; brother, Donald Savage; sisters, Linda Malloch, Beverly Savage and Kathleen Savage; nephews and nieces, Russell Savage, Carson Savage, Leah Matthews, Kevin Sawtelle, Paula Jones, Anna Fletcher, Scott Fitzgerald, Sarah Fitzgerald, Stephen Smart and Allison Smart; great-nephews and great-nieces.
He was predeceased by his parents; long-time companion, Brenda Fitzsimmons, and great-nephew, Brandon Cline.
David was a fisherman who worked hard until his deteriorating health brought him ashore. Despite limitations occasioned by his health, David went on the water whenever he could.
David will be remembered by his family with great love and strong memories as a devoted father, a man who always encouraged them, tried his best even in the most difficult situations, and who was always there to help in any way he could.
Visiting hours will be at the Anglican Hall of St. Anne’s Church in Welshpool, Campobello Island, on Tuesday, Jan. 13, from 2 to 4 p.m., and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral service will be at St. Anne’s Anglican Church, Welshpool, N.B., on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009 at 2 p.m. The interment will follow in North Road Baptist Cemetery, followed by a reception in the church hall.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Humphreys’ Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St. Stephen, N.B.
Anderson, Mary Gertrude
At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on Feb. 7, 2009 Mary Gertrude Anderson, of Lawrence Station, N.B.; daughter of the late Percival James and Martha (Armstrong) Anderson.
Survived by nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
