Campbell, Elsie Bernice
The death of Mrs. (Elsie) Bernice (Clinch) Campbell, wife of the late Stephen Afton Campbell of Breadalbane, N.B. in her 91st year, occurred at the Fundy Nursing Home at Blacks Harbour on Friday, April 17, 2009. Born in St. George, N.B. on July 12, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Elsie (Goodiell) Clinch.
Bernice was a member of St. Mark’s Anglican Church and attended St. George Baptist Church. A loving mother, grandmother and aunt, she is survived by her children: Ellen Hatt, of St. George, N.B., Jane (Richard) Smith, of Breadalbane, N.B., Stephanie (Alan) MacEachern, of Grand Manan, N.B., and William (Janet) Campbell, of Halifax N.S., grandchildren: Stephen (Mary) Hatt, of St. George, N.B., Laurie (Harry) Moses, of Utopia, N.B., Allan (Crystal) MacEachern, of St. Stephen, N.B. and Sheryl MacEachern, of Canoose, N.B.; seven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, including David and Rossylyn Allen, as well as several cousins and sister-in-law Rhoda Palmer.
She was predeceased by brothers; Edward, Joseph and William Clinch, and sisters, Helen Thompson, Verna Reynolds, Ethel Stewart, Nellie Brown, Laura Maxwell, Dorothy Baldwin and Marion Cunningham. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Bernice was a life-long resident of the St. George area and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Bernice and Steve lived for many happy years at Breadalbane on the shores of Passamaquoddy Bay, where Bernice loved to watch the birds and the sunsets with her husband, family and friends. For the last few years, Steve and Bernice were residents of the Fundy Nursing Home where they received exceptional care and love from the staff.
A celebration of Bernice’s life will be held at the St. George Baptist Church on Thursday at 2 p.m., April 23, 2009 with Rev. Darren Millett officiating.
Visiting at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. In Bernice’s memory, donations to the Fundy Nursing Home would be appreciated by the family.

Johnsen, Patricia
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia Johnsen at Passamaquoddy Lodge, St. Andrews, N.B., on March 15, 2009. Pat was born in Perth, N.B., on March 17, 1916. Over the years she lived in Perth, New Denmark, Four Falls, Andover, Nackawic and St. Stephen until the last few months.
Lovingly remembered by son, David (Lois) Johnsen, and daughter, Ann (Michael) Mazuruk; grandchildren, Rodney (Heidi) Johnsen, Kimberley (Kevin) Ganong, John (Jennifer) Mazuruk, Mitchell Mazuruk and Steven (Hana) Mazuruk; great-grandchildren, Emmitt and Madison Ganong; sister, Mary DeMerchant; several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
Pat was the daughter of the late William and Lucy (Walker) Clark. She was predeceased by her dear husband, Charles, in 1998; infant daughter, Judith; brothers and their wives: John (Madeline) Clark, Bruce (Eileen) Clark, Robert (Eileen) Clark; sisters and their husbands, Anna (Bert) Fraser, Juanita (Russell) Thompson, and brother-in-law, Ralph DeMerchant.
We will fondly remember her and always remember all the memories she left in our memory banks.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Lesley Pinder, the nurses and staff at Passamaquoddy Lodge, St. Andrews, and the staff at Lonicera Hall, St. Stephen. Special thanks to Sadie Nixon, for always being such a dear and true friend.
A memorial service will be held at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B., on Saturday, March 21, 2009.
Friends may visit at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m., followed by the service at 2 p.m., with Rev. Dr. Mark Hatfield officiating.
Cremation has taken place and the interment, with a graveside service, will take place in June at Melville United Church Cemetery, Kincardine, N.B.

Maxwell, Ross Edward
At his residence, at Canal, N.B., on March 31, 2009, Ross Edward Maxwell, husband of Mrs. Blanche (Spear) Maxwell. Born at St. George, N.B., on Sept. 1, 1921, he was a son of the late Donald and Ethel (Thorne) Maxwell.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, in addition to his wife, Blanche, he is survived by one daughter, Dawn (David) Daigle, of Canal, N.B.; two granddaughters, Gale Stanton (Walter McDowell), of Blacks Harbour, N.B., and Naomi (Sylvain) Cote, of Lawrence Station, N.B.; two grandsons, Joe Daigle, of St. Andrews, N.B., and Cameron Daigle, of Blacks Harbour, N.B.; two great-grandchildren, Kaitilin Stanton, of Blacks Harbour, N.B., and Gabrielle Cote, of Lawrence Station, N.B.; one sister, Madeline Maxwell, of Moncton, N.B.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by one brother, Horace Maxwell, and by one sister, Yvonne Fenney.
Ross was in the construction industry for most of his working life. He and his brother, Horace, owned and operated Maxwell’s Construction for many years, after which he became a truck driver for Connors Bros. and Fundy Construction. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, and enjoyed reading in his quiet time.
He was totally a family man, dedicated to spending time with his family and was a man who lived by his faith.
Rested at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B., from where the service was held from the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Friday, April 3, 2009 at 3 p.m., with Lynda and Diane Anderson officiating.
Interment will be held at the St. George Rural Cemetery in the spring.
Visiting was held at the funeral home on Wednesday and Thursday.

Dougherty, Doreen Mary
Peacefully, at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B. on April 22, 2009, Mrs. Doreen Mary (Leblanc) Dougherty, wife of Hayward Dougherty, of Canal N.B. Born at Moncton, N.B. on Dec. 3, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Emile and Sylvia Mae (Bourgouis) Leblanc.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, in addition to her husband Hayward, she is survived by one daughter, Sandra Hatt of Canal, N.B.; one son, Garry (Barbara) Dougherty of Canal, N.B.; six grandchildren: Lori Hatt, of Saint John, N.B., Serri Hatt (Kenny Hawkins), of Canal, N.B., Sasha Hanley, of Saint John N.B., Shelli Hanley, of Blacks Harbour, N.B., Steven Dougherty and Jeffery Dougherty, both of St. George, N.B.; 10 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by three brothers: Edmond, Oreal and Ulysse, and one sister, Dorice Cormier. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Doreen was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with the Medical Corps in Fredericton, Petawawa, and various bases throughout Canada. She loved music and played the guitar and often participated in charity fundraisers. Doreen found joy in helping others and will be missed by all who knew her.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George, N.B., with visiting on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the St. George’s Roman Catholic Church on Saturday at 12 noon with Father John Mooney officiating, followed by interment at St. George’s Roman Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Charlotte County Cancer Society or Spiritual Bouquets would be appreciated by the family.
Greenlaw, Carl Raymond
At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., March 17, 2009, Carl Raymond Greenlaw, of Rollingdam, N.B.; husband of the late Pauline Clara Hamilton, and son of the late Raymond Linton and Mary Alice (Stinson) Greenlaw.
Survived by his children: John Carl Greenlaw (Jane), of Meriden, Conn., Sharon Little (Allan), of Bartlett Mills, N.B., William (Billy) Greenlaw (Wendy), of Rollingdam, N.B., and Susan Mary Johnson (David), of St. Stephen, N.B.; grandchildren, Robert and Shaun Greenlaw, Michael Luke Little, Jonathan Johnson, Kevin Allan Johnson, Katrina Furrow (Randy), Heather Andrea Little and Jennifer Lorraine Little; nieces, nephews and cousins.

At Pro Tem Health Care Services, Moncton, N.B., on March 15, 2009, Dorothy Louise McIntee, of St. Stephen, N.B.; wife of the late Kenneth Vincent McIntee.
Survived by two sons, Brian McIntee (Kaye), of Chamcook, N.B., and Steve McIntee, of Moores Mills, N.B.; one daughter, Bev Anderson (Eric), of Riverview, N.B.; four grandchildren, Kenneth, Joanne, Meaghan and Meridith; three great-grandchildren, Kenneth, Amanda and Olivia; nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her husband and one infant grandson, Michael.

MacFarlane, Reta Vivian
At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B., on Monday, Dec. 22, 2008, Reta Vivian (Estey) MacFarlane, of St. Stephen, N.B., wife of the late Robert Jerome MacFarlane. Born in St. Stephen, N.B., she is the daughter of the late Eldon and Ida Estey.
For many years Reta was self-employed as a hairstylist in the St. Andrews area. She was a member of the St. Stephen Presbyterian Church.
Reta is survived by her two sons, Ronald, of St. Stephen, N.B., and Richard and his wife, Louise, of St. Andrews, N.B.; cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one brother, Ron Estey.
By Reta’s request, there was no visitation.
A service of remembrance to celebrate Reta’s life will be held Monday, April 13, 2009 at 11 a.m., at St. Stephen Presbyterian Church. Rev. Cheryl McFadyen will officiate.
A reception will follow in the church hall.

Survived by his wife; son, Justin Mitchell, Wilson’s Beach, NB; daughter, Emilee Mitchell, Wilson’s Beach, N.B.; sister; Michelle Mitchell, Lubec, Me.; several nieces, nephews; aunts, uncles and cousins.
Rested at the Wilson’s Beach United Baptist Church, Wilson’s Beach, N.B., from where funeral service was held on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at 2 p.m.
Interment at Wilson’s Beach Cemetery.

Funeral service was held on Monday, April 6, 2009 at 2 p.m., at Grace Memorial United Baptist Church, 536 Northumberland Street, Fredericton, N.B.
Family received relatives and friends at the Grace Memorial United Baptist Church, Fredericton, on Monday from 12 to 2 p.m.
Interment will be held at a later date.
