James Malcolm BYERS
September 6, 1940 - July 19, 2007
James Malcolm Byers passed away Thursday, July 19, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Born in Saint John, N.B. he was the son of the late Ardie A. (Bishop) and W. Russell Byers.
Mr. Byers resided at the Caring Manner, and enjoyed volunteering at the North End Food Bank.
He is survived by four sons; James (Cindy) Byers Jr., Jamie Byers and his fiancé Stacy McGrath, Mark Barton and girlfriend Kristen Jensen, all of Saint John, and John Campbell of Ottawa, two daughters; Sherry Byers of Saint John, Bonnie Byers of Victoria, B.C., two brothers; Russell (Alice) Byers, of Haneytown, N. B., and Paul Byers of Ottawa, two sisters; Janet (Dave) Shaw of Glenwood, NL, and Jean Wilson of Lorneville, eight grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Resting at Castle "Fallsview " Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John.
Visiting will take place on Sunday from 2-4,7-9 p.m.
The Funeral Service will take place from Castle’s “Fallsview Chapel” on Monday July 23 at 1 p.m.
Interment in Church of the Good Shepherd Cemetery.

Mr. Ellwood Bateman
June 7, 1925 - July 19, 2007
Peacefully passed away at the Moncton Hospital on Thursday, July 19th, 2007 at the age of 82 years.
He was the husband of Mildred (Mullen) Bateman of Shediac Cape.
Ellwood was born in Shediac Road, NB, he was the son the late Amos and Ella (Wood) Bateman.
He attended St. Martin's in the Wood Anglican Church.
A member of the Zetland Lodge # 24, Eastern Star # 26.
He also worked at Eaton's Co. for 35 years and retired from Number 5 in Moncton after 15 years of service.
Besides his wife, Ellwood is survived by his son, Ellwood A. Jr of Shediac Cape, his daughter, Darla Bateman of Moncton, his brother, Ronnie Bateman (Winnie) of Caissie Cape, three sisters, June Rafuse (Charlie) of Black's Harbor, Emily Steeves (Ken) of Petticodiac, Joy Welling (Arnold) of Shediac Cape, two grandchildren, Savanah and Jessie and by many nieces and nephews.
He was also predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Art & Gordon, three sisters, Gladys, Hazel & Joan.
A Masonic service will held from the church on Tuesday, July 24th, 2007 at 1:30 p.m.
Funeral service will be held from St. Martin's-in-the-Wood Anglican Church, Shediac Cape on Tuesday, July 24th, 2007 at 2 p.m. with Father Richard McConnell officiating.
The family would appreciate donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the Diabetic Association.

Vivian Elizabeth PORTER
August 10, 1924 - July 19, 2007
Vivian Elizabeth Porter (Carr), age 82, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Wife of the late Earl Porter she was born in Geary, N.B.
She was the daughter of the late Commodore and Marjorie (Murray) Carr.
Mrs. Porter loved dancing, cards, and the outdoors.
She spent many summers trailering at the Green Acres Trailer Park in Jemseg, and was a past member of #2 Legion.
Vivian is survived by 3 sons, Bill (Nancy), Saint John; Brian (Valerie), Saint John and Stephen, St. Martins; 3 daughters, Marilyn (Brian) Giggey, Saint John; Pam Phillips, Oakville, Ont. and Debby (Barry) Reid, Grand Bay-Westfield; 2 brothers, Earle Carr, Saint John and Kenneth (Midge) Carr, Geary; 1 sister, Vera Bleakney, Saint John; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Vivian was predeceased by her infant daughter, Linda May Porter and her brother, Woodrow Carr.
Resting at Castle Funeral Homes, "Fallsview Chapel", 309 Lancaster Ave. (634-1701).
Visitation will take place on Sunday, July 22, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 23, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. from Castle Funeral Home.
Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
Donations, in memory of Vivian, may be made to: The Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
Dorothy E. Wood
August 28, 1920 - July 29, 2007
Dorothy E. (Harris) Wood, passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday, July 29, 2007.
Born on August 28, 1920 in England, she was the daughter of the late Reginald and Anne (Rayment) Harris.
Wife of the late James Charles Wood.
Dorothy was a receptionist for many years with Dr. W.O. Mulligan, Orthodontist, and was involved in many organizations within St. George's Anglican Church such as, the Mother's Union, Martha's and Mary's, and was involved the church choir.
She was also a volunteer and pianist at the Carleton-Kirk Nursing Home.
Dorothy will be sadly missed by son, Ronald (Carolyn); 2 daughters, Verna (Norm) Keating and Donna Laskey; 2 brothers, Reg (Stella) Harris and Neil (Marguerite) Harris; 2 sisters, Violet Woods and Florence (Hartley) Jones; a special cousin, Ted (Vonnie) Harris; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her sister, Winnifred Hallett; son-in-law, William Laskey and granddaughter, Janice Keating.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. from St. George's Anglican Church.

Mrs. Peggy MacKenzie
August 29, 1929 - August 1, 2007
Peggy (Ella Mae Garland) MacKenzie, beloved wife of Stuart for 57 years, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 1st, 2007 at the Moncton Hospital.
Born August 23rd, 1929 in Albert County, she was the daughter of the late John Garland and Kathleen (Chappell) Garland.
Peggy was predeceased by her brother Lawrence (Brud).
She is survived by her brother James (Elaine), three sons: Donald (Vicky), Dale (Joan) and Richard (Vicky) and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In keeping with Peggy’s wishes, there will be no visitation.
A private family service will be held.
Donations to the Cancer Society in her name would be appreciated.

Frank PARKER
April 3, 1921 - July 27, 2007
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frank Parker on July 27, 2007 at Ridgewood Veteran’s Center.
He was born in Carol’s Crossing, N.B.
He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Armed Forces on April 14, 1941 and served 27 years.
He fought for our country in WWII.
He was the recipient of many awards during his service.
He was also a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion with Branch #4 in Fredericton.
Frank was an animal lover and he had a love and bond with his cat Hobo.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Noeline Parker (Peter) of Saint John and Joan Parker (Wayne) of Montreal, Que.; 4 sons, Rick Parker (Cecil) Levack, Ont., Peter Parker (Denise) of Welland, Ont., Jim Parker, and Hal Parker (Monique) of Barrie, Ont.
He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Burial will take place in Doaktown, N.B.
Donations may be made to: The Animal Rescue League or a charity of choice.
