René A. Simard
1916-2008
René A. Simard, 91, of Elmwood Drive, Moncton, passed away Friday, May 9, 2008 at the Dr. G.-L. Dumont Hospital.
Born May 15, 1916 in Edmundston, he was the son of the late Alfred Simard and Claire Michaud.
He was a Knight of Columbus member with St. Alphonse de Liguori Council #11985 (N.-D.-de-la-Paix).
He is survived by his first wife Laurette Bouchard and ten children: Louis-Philippe (Norma), Jeanne d'Arc (Paul), Jean-Paul (Micheline), Gaëtane, Gilles (Rose-Marie), Ginette (Louis), Reynald (Claire), Huguette, Denise (Jean-Guy) and Pauline (Allain); a brother, Léopold ( late Jeannette); 2 sisters: Annette (late Yvon) and Jeannine ( Bernard); 19 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; his wife, Anna (née Léger) LeBlanc and her children: Maria (Léo-Jean), Yvonne (John), Alice (Claude), Hélène, Robert (Géraldine) and their children.
He is predeceased by a daughter, Jacqueline, a sister, Yvette and four brothers: Claude, Rhéal, Louis-Philippe and Roland.
The family will receive condolences Tuesday, May 13 from 10 a.m. until departure (10:45 a.m.) at Frenette Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton then to N.-D.-de-la-Paix R.C. Church, Murphy Avenue, Moncton, from where the funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m.
Memorial donations to the Dr. G.-L. Dumont Hospital Foundation (Oncology) would be appreciated by the family.
Ovila LeBlanc
1924-2008
Ovila LeBlanc, 83, of Saint-Antoine passed away on Friday, May 23, 2008 at the Halifax Infimary in Halifax, N.S. Born November 2, 1924 in Ste-Marie-de-Kent, he was the son of the late Maxime and Amanda (Cormier) LeBlanc. He was a retired construction worker.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 62 yrs. Thérèse (Richard) LeBlanc, two sons: Roméo (Mary-Ann) of Orange, Mass, and Rhéal (Sandra) of Gardner, Mass.; three sisters: Clara (late Léandre)Cormier of Renaud Mills, Diane (late Elzéar) Richard and Rose Goguen (Edgar) both of St-Antoine; three half-sisters: Aline LeBlanc (Donat) of St-Antoine, Annette Belliveau (Rhéal) of Ste-Marie-de-Kent, Marie LeBlanc (Alvin) of Moncton; a half-brother Léo LeBlanc (Édith) of Leominster, Mass; four grandchildren: Ricky, Randy, Jason and Jill; two great grandchildren: Makenzie and Aaron, and by several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a half-brother Alderice and by a half-sister Huberte LeBlanc.
Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Saint-Antoine-de-l'Ermite R.C Church, Saint-Antoine. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. No visitation by request. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Frenette Funeral Home Ltd., 396 Main St., Shediac (532-3297). Donations to the St-Antoine Fire Department Burn Fund would be appreciated.
Helene Comeau
1928-2008
Helene Comeau, 79, of Moncton passed away Sunday, May 4, 2008 at The Moncton Hospital.
Born September 16, 1928 in Lewisville, she was the daughter of the late Jean and Euphémie (LeBlanc) Fournier.
She is survived by a sister, Mary Fowler of Moncton, a nephew, Victor Fowler, and a cousin, Gerard Cormier. A special thanks to Pat LeBlanc and her family for taking care of Helene.
She is predeceased by her husband, Anthony Comeau (2000), a sister, Rita, and a brother, Amos.
Condolences will be received Tuesday, May 6, 2008 from 10 a.m. until departure (10:45 a.m.) at Frenette Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton then to N.-D.-de-Grâce R.C. Church, Moncton, from where the mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe.
Memorial donations to the Friends of The Moncton Hospital or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
Cyril Arsenault
1923-2008
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Cyril Arsenault, 85, beloved husband of Corinne (Robichaud) Arsenault of Moncton. His death occurred on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at The Moncton Hospital following a brief illness.
Born March 5, 1923 in Moncton, he was the son of the late Prémelite and Geneviève (Collette) Arsenault.
Cyril was a retired electrician with CN, a member of the Parkton Golden Age Club, and 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 6468.
Besides his wife, he will sadly be missed by his six loving children: Denise Leger (Roger), Cécile Brunet, Cécilia Bertin (Armand), Claudette Bradshaw (Doug), Gilles and Ronald (Brenda); a sister, Mona Tsoulis; 11 grandchildren: Lisa Queena, and Teena Robichaud, Michelle Cosorso, Chris and Nick Bradshaw, Stéphanie and Christelle Leger, Garrett and Carleen Brick, Chelsea and Jade Arsenault; 3 great-grandchildren: Madison, Makenzie, and T.J..
He is predeceased by 6 brothers: Maxime, Clovis, Éloi (t-boy), Willie, Clovis, Joseph; a sister, Henriette.
Resting at Frenette Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton. Visiting hours Monday, May 19 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 20 from N.-D.de-Grâce R.C. Church (Parkton). Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe.

Claude Fortin
1934-2008
It is with great sadness that we, the family of Claude C. Fortin, husband of Lucille Doucet Comeau, wish to announce his passing at the Dr G.-L. Dumont regional Hospital, in Moncton, on Sunday, May 18, 2008, at the age of 73. Born on June 3, 1934, in Saint-André-de-Kamouraska, Quebec, he was the son of the late Charles Eugene Fortin et Desanges Desharnais.
Claude was a retired insurance broker (Assumption Life), member of the Royal Canadian Air Force and Grand Knight with Council 11985 of the Knights of Columbus (Christ-Roi / Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix).
He is survived by his wife Lucille Comeau (late Léonide Comeau); his children, Michel Fortin (Louise Vézina), Danielle Fortin (Marc Sanschagrin), Richard Fortin (Lynn Bourgeois), Patricia Fortin, Gaétan Fortin (Denise Partridge), and Mario Fortin (Nadine Vignolas); his step-children, Diane Drapeau (Jean-Louis Drapeau), Rachelle Bordeleau (Yoland Bordeleau), Suzanne Comeau (Mike Oxner), and Denis Comeau (Marie-Hélène Landry); his grandchildren, Véronique, Leah, Brianna, Carissa, Alexandra, Philippe, Nicolas, Sarah, Julie, Luc, François, Michelle, Christine, Jacob, and Zacharie; one brother, Robert Fortin (Barbara); three sisters, Charlotte Melanson (Emery), Gisèle McCarthy (Tim), and Céline Doiron (Azor); as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Jeannine Young.
Remains are resting at Frenette's Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 20th, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Wednesday, from 10 a.m. until departure (10:45). The funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 21st at Christ-Roi Church, Moncton. Internment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe.

Corinne Niles
1923-2008
Corinne Niles, 84, wife of the late Alfred Niles of Lakeville, formerly of Parkton, passed away Monday, May 19, 2008 at the Dr. G.-L. Dumont Hospital.
Born August 15, 1923 in Sainte-Marie, she was the daughter of the late Clément and Elmire (Cormier) Girouard.
Corinne loved playing bingo and spending her summers at Gagnon Beach.
She will be sadly missed by her three loving children: Alfreda Casey (John) and Rick (Lisa) of Lakeville, Linda Nash (Jim) of Salisbury; seven grandchildren: Clement, Laurie, Kim, Darlene, Roseanna, Emile, Chris; four great-grandchildren: Luc, Shawn, Tina, and Jeffrey; many nieces, and nephews.
Besides her husband, she is also predeceased by a son, Francis; her brothers and sisters: Alice, Irene, Yvonne, Laura, Elmire, Élodie, Laura, Maria, Émile, Laurie, Émerie, and Yvon.
