Annette Marie Martin
1974-2007

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Annette M. Martin age 32, of Fredericton on July 13, 2007 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born in Edmonton, Alta. she was a daughter of the late Patrick Martin. Annette worked as a medical clerk at the Dr. Chalmers Regional Hospital and was a member of the United Church of Canada as well as the Crohns & Colitis Foundation. A loving mother and daughter, she is survived by her mother Claudine (Mair) Martin; son Bailey Martin; sister Tasha Stewart (Scott); nephews Kaydn and Payson; Maternal Grandmother Beatrice Martin; Maternal Grandfather Gordon Martin; Paternal Grandmother Helen Mair; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Predeceased by her father as well as Paternal Grandfather Don Mair.
Resting at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Rd. with visiting Tuesday July 17, 2007 from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday July 18, 2007, from Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00pm. Interment in the Douglas Rural Cemetery.For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of Canada or the Cancer Society NB Division. Honorary Pallbearers will be; Laurie Davidson, Seana Chapman & Tanya Allen.

Dana M. Ellison
1913-2007

Dana M. Ellison passed away at the Cardiac Care Unit of the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton on Sunday July 22, 2007 at 94 years of age. Born in Henderson, Queens County, New Brunswick, he was a son of the late Myles R. and Evie O (Green) Ellison. He attended school at Henderson and Saint John, NB. He was a graduate of Saint John Vocational School as an Electrical Technician.
Predeceased by his parents and his wife Edith M. (Warren) Ellison, he is survived by a son Brian R. Ellison and his life partner Tony Werth of Toronto; a daughter Marilyn Price and her husband Al of Ottawa; two granddaughters Erin Wilson in Ottawa, Tara Wilson-Gay and her husband James Gay; great granddaughters Autumn and Zanthe in Sydney, Australia; friend and long-term caregiver, Bob Johnson and relief caregiver, Dianne Gunter.
He was employed by NB Power Commission in 1930 for 43 years, until his retirement in 1973. During that time, he was a meter repairman and was in charge of the meter department from 1940 to 1970. At the time of his retirement, he was an Electrical Technologist and an assistant to the Electrical Engineer on Systems Standards. He was one of the two surviving of the 55 charter members of the NB Power 25 Year Club formed in 1964. He was a retired member of the New Brunswick Society of Electrical Technicians and Technologists, and a member of the NB Antique Auto Club for many years.
There will be no visitation at the request of the family. Following cremation, there will be a short memorial service at Bishop’s Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road Fredericton on Thursday July 26, 2007 at 2:00 pm conducted by Rev. R.M. Johnson. A reception will follow at the family home. All are invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Interment of ashes at Bayview Cemetery, Hatfield’s Point, NB will be held at a later date.

Braxston Gary George Paul
2007-2007

At the I.W.K. Hospital in Halifax, NS Braxston Gary George Paul passed away on July 15, 2007. Born in Fredericton on July 4, 2007, he was the son of Jeff and Brittaney. He is also survived by his paternal grandparents Angus and Clarissa Lanceleve; maternal grandparents Maria Davis & Gary Nason; stepmother Kim Mac Donald; aunts Tyisha Davis, Mikayla Davis and Katie Nason; uncle Joel Paul; uncle and godparents Josh Paul and Kaitlyn Morgan. Resting at 130 Paul Street Fredericton. A funeral service will be held at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday July 18 at 11:00 am with Father Monte Peters officiating. Interment will be held at St. Anthony’s Cemetery. Donation to the I.W.K. Hospital P.I.C.U. unit would be appreciated.

Betty Brown
1924-2007

The passing of Betty Brown occurred peacefully at the Fredericton Veteran’s Unit on July 24, 2007. Born in Marysville, November 20, 1924, Betty was the daughter of the late Frank L. and Susan A. (Dodds) Gorman and wife of the late John Brown Sr. She is the last remaining member of her immediate family, being predeceased by her parents, husband, brothers Alboyn (Tac) and Clyde.
Betty was a lifelong resident of Marysville and worked at”the mill”, went on to an office career “over town” with various employers, Medjuck’s, Automatic Heat, Dept. of Health, receptionist and cardiology technician for the Fredericton Medical Clinic.
Betty then took time to be with her husband until his death in 1976. She returned to work with NB Power until her retirement in 1989. She was an active member of Marysville Legion Branch #15, where she served three terms as President and held positions of secretary, treasurer, vice president and member of the executive committee. Betty later became a life member of RCL Beaverbrook Branch #80 and remained a member until her passing. Betty is survived by four sons John (Gail) of Fredericton, Dan (Teri) of Sylvan Lake, Alberta, Larry (Betty) and Gary (Donna) all of Fredericton; several Grandchildren; Great Grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Resting at Bishop’s Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Rd. with visitation on Thursday July 26, 2007 from 3:30-5:30 & 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held on Friday July 27, 2007 from Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel at 2: 00pm. Interment in the Marysville Baptist Cemetery. The Royal Canadian Legion Beaverbrook Branch #80 will hold a tribute service Thursday evening beginning 7pm at the funeral home.

Ada T. McLaughlin

The passing of Ada Theora McLaughlin of Fredericton occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Sunday, August 19th, 2007. Born at Long’s Creek, NB, she was the daughter of the late J. Garfield and Mary A. (Howard) Caverhill. Ada was a long time member of St. Paul’s United Church in Fredericton. She taught school from 1942 - 1948 and worked at the Hartt Shoe Factory from 1949 - 1954 and from 1954 she stayed at home and raised her family. In 1968 she returned to the workforce and was employed by the Lord Beaverbrook Hotel and Keddy’s until her retirement. Ada looked forward to her summers where she enjoyed life at Lake George.
Ada is survived by her husband Russell, her loving husband for 58 years; two devoted daughters, Coreen Brown of Fredericton and Sharon McLaughlin of Fredericton; three cherished grandchildren, Lee, Scot and Trinda; She will be greatly missed by her sister Doris Moore of Fredericton and her brother Carl Caverhill of Lake George; also survived by several nieces and nephews. Her parents, a son Ivan (1978), her sister Eveline Dunlay; her sister-in-law Dora Caverhill and brothers-in-law Ralph Dunlay and Hedley Moore all predeceased her.
Resting at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton, where visitation will be held Tuesday from 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 2:00 PM. Rev. Paul Ross will officiate assisted by Rev. Gil MacKenzie. Ada’s eulogy will be delivered by her very dear and close friend Diane Quigg who not only spent countless hours comforting and reassuring Ada but was also a tremendous source of strength and great support to the family. Interment in the Acton Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons Lee and Scot Cogswell and nephews Rick Moore, Gordon Dunlay, Gary Dunlay and Mike Budaker. The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Helen Sylvia Smith
1921-2007

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Helen S. Smith age 86 of Beaverdam on September 3, 2007 at the York Manor Nursing Home. Born in Harvey she was a daughter of the late David and Winnifred (Carson) Morgan and wife of the late Charles L. Smith. Helen was a member of the Nasonworth United Baptist Church and her love of music lead her to play the organ at the church. A homemaker, she was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother who cherished spending time with all her family as they were a great part of her life. She enjoyed her gardening and flowers.
The last surviving member of her immediate family, she will be sadly missed by her children Charles Smith of Wasauga Beach, ON, Donald D. Smith (Jean) of Orangeville, ON, Linda E. Harris (Charles) of Beaverdam, NB, Sherri L. Blakeny (Ivan) of Winnipeg, MB; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters Amber, May, Grace and Daisy; brothers James, Lawrence and Walter.
Although there will be no visitation, a funeral service will be held at Bishop’s Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road Fredericton on Friday, September 7, 2007 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Ivan Blakeny officiating. Interment will be held in the Nasonworth Baptist Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice. A special thanks for all the care and attention given to mom during her stay at York Manor (Best Building).

Basil Allan Messer
1918-2007

The passing of Basil Allan Messer of Fredericton occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Thursday July 19, 2007 at the age of 89. Born in Tweedside, NB, he was a son of the late Allan and Janet (Mills) Messer and husband of the late Ethel Alice (Farrell) Messer. Basil was employed with Mussen’s Atlantic Ltd. as a service manager, a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, The Cherry Mountain Lodge #50, Eastern Star, and Luxor Shriner’s. The last surviving member of his immediate family, he is survived by sons Duane his wife Bonnie of Fredericton, Garnet his wife Karen of Ottawa; daughter Lida Gorrell of Calgary; grandchildren Troy, Terri-Leigh, Harley, Andrea, Lori-Leigh, Christopher and Matthew; great-grandchildren Tyler, Shane, Joshua, Lydia, Ainsley, Garnet and Elsa; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Calvin, Ezra, Glenwood and Otis; sisters Nellie and Roxie; son in law James Gorrell; brother in law Paul Farrell. Resting at Bishop’s Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Rd. with visitation on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held on Monday at 2:00pm from St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. Interment in the Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Children Hospital or charity of the donors choice. The Cherry Mountain Lodge #50 will hold a tribute service Sunday evening at the funeral home beginning at 7:00pm. Pallbearers are Brian Miles, Lorrie Yerxa, Edward Rogers, Norm Stevenson, Mac Campbell and Gary Horsnell.

William "Bill" McLaughlin
1935-2007

Bill McLaughlin of Geary, NB died peacefully at the White Rapid’s Manor, Fredericton Jct. On July 13, 2007. Born in French Lake on October 8, 1935, he was the son of the late Ernest and Grace (Wood) McLaughlin.
Bill retired in 1996 after 44 years in the Public Service at CFB Gagetown, and loved working in the woods. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his many family and friends.
Survived by his loving wife of 46 years Barbara (Drummond) McLaughlin; daughters Donna of Geary, Kimberly (Rizwan Javeri) of Montreal; one grandson Ryan of Geary; brothers Howard McLaughlin (Marina) of Rusagonis, Jack McLaughlin (Violet) of Rusagonis, David McLaughlin (Anna) of French Lake; cousins; nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents; brothers Maurice, Robert, Donald; half brother Leland; sisters Margaret, Bessie, Edna and Marion.
Resting at Bishop’s Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Rd. with visitation on Sunday July 15, 2007 from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held on Monday July 16, 2007 from the funeral home chapel at 2:00pm with Rev. Robert McDowell officiating. Interment will be at the Geary French Lake Waterville Cemetery. For those who wish memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society NB Division or charity of the donors choice.
